personality —   Earthbenders have a reputation for being strong and Lei isn’t one to disappoint. Although a late bloomer, he was able to display great skill in his bending and has proven that he is a force to be reckoned in his later years in Yang Ping. Other than his strong offense,Lei has dabbled into some basic martial arts training which makes him pretty decent in combat. Lei is an extrovert. He’s high energy, a people person, and an entertainer. He enjoys spending most of his time around other people, and loves to be the center of attention. That being said, he also values independence and self-determination. Rarely will he rely on other people and when he does so, it’s reluctantly. Lei  is a hard worker who often pushes his own limits. Easily frustrated, he can come off as having a short temper. He’s undeniably a perfectionist, especially when it comes to his own skills and talent. He wants to be the best at what he does and wants to be recognized for it. Although a skilled bender, Lei is reckless. He tends to just rush into things and given that his defense isn’t as strong as his offense, causes him to sustain minor injuries during his pro-bending matches. Lei was born into a noble family. With his father being a military officer and his mother, a socialite, it would be an understatement to say that there weren’t things expected of him. It was drilled into his head that he would grow up to become a powerful earth-bender and serve under the military as an officer. However, that task seemed impossible for him to reach as he wasn’t showing any signs of being capable to earth-bend.

Just when Lei was slowly starting to accept the fact that he might not be able to earth-bend at all, he does it. It happens when he’s eight years old and the details are a bit fuzzy ( his father says he got annoyed at his younger brother and decided that hurling a boulder at him would be good payback) but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that he could earth-bend and that he could finally attend Yang Ping to hone his skills.

Despite being a late-bloomer,Lei  became a promising earth-bender and a popular student at the academy. Upon graduation,He joined the military. It was the norm for people with his skill and stature. Lei is a military general when the war started it was no surprise that he sided with his people and was so determined to bring them victory however his soldiers get him down sometimes by their laziness and lack of determination.
