Almost Like Being In Love

"OH MY GOD!"

those were the words i can only comprehend as i am reading this awesome masterpiece of Steve Kluger! All my life, I only considered Flipped as my all time favorite novel but after reading Almost Like Being In Love last night for seven straight hours which is a three hundred plus paged book; I FIND MY SELF COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH IT!

It was the first time i read something like that. And I mean with the writing style. It is not the usual narrative type with first or third person's point of view. The story was wonderfully executed by post-ins, letters, articles from newspapers, journals, e-mails, etc. This story made me realize how first love can affect you. How strong and powerful it was after being separated with your loved one for such a long time.

FREAKIN TWENTY YEARS!

And Craig, I really loved Craig's character. I loved everything between him and Travis. How their love for each other started to blossom and how they accepted each other; including their beauty and flaws. How much almost were Travis' first times with Craig. How perfect they are for each other. Craig is not the smartest guy out there but Travis helped him. Travis is not the most confident guy out there but with Craig; he didn't bother doing anything with him.

I was just so amazed how it moved me.

And the setting being in the 70's and late 90's IS A MAJOR PLUS!

Like really? Are you kidding me? A gay romance with a classical setting? THIS IS JUST SO PERFECT! This is the perfect novel for me after flipped of course.

Now Im experiencing some book hangover and existential crisis since I can't still move on from the awesome-ness of ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE.

I will rate this a 4.5 stars out of 5. The -0.5 was for the common nouns used that i barely have no idea because i was born too late for them to actually know what they are. Nonetheless, I will still highly recommend this book to anyone who are open minded enough to accept equality for everyone despite the gender discrimination some s are creating.

So beware: FIRST LOVE NEVER DIES
