17 Questions for Writers

1. Do you write stories (or parts of it) everyday? Day or night?

I don't write them as often as I think about them. Usually it's very early in the morning - right about when I wake up. And then I take a break around 1-2 PM. The drive to write comes back when the sun is setting and takes me on and off into the evening.

2. Do you have any writing rituals? If yes, what are they?

Hmm...When I can't reach my laptop, I only make notes and brainstorm with pen and paper. I never use other computers or electronics. Only about 50% of the time will I actually use my brainstorming sheets to guide the story. It's mainly to keep my mind chugging away at ideas.

I also cannot write unless I'm listening to the proper music. It has to fit the mood of the story and if I can't find the right song, then I just don't write.

3. Where do you write: MS Word, Notepad app, notebook, AFF text editor, Google doc, etc.?

I exclusively use MS Word. I don't know why, but I can't seem to get my thoughts across on any other platform.

4. Do you start a fic with an outline? If the answer is no, proceed to #6.

I never have outlines. I have vague ideas and sometimes I'll make outlines but I never follow them so it becomes useless anyway.

5. Is your outline fixed or a work in progress?

N/A

6. How do you know if a chapter is done?

If the chapter feels done. That was ambiguous. Basically, if the scene has come to an end or it feels like a good cliffhanger, then I'll break the chapter there. I truly dislike continuing a chapter that includes an entire day's worth of activities if those activities are not directly related. Also, if there is a time skip by even a few hours, then I will start a new chapter.

7. When do you update?

I update when I'm inspired. Sometimes it's from a very kind comment, other times I wake up and know what's going to happen next in the story after so long.

8. Do you usually write short chapters (<1500) or long ones (>2500)?

It varies greatly. When I first started on AFF i wrote very short chapters but nowadays my chapters can average between 2-3,000 words.

9. Is it a must for your story to have a poster?

I think posters are fun to make and I think for gaining viewership, it's important. However, if people are only reading my story for the poster, that would be very odd. Furthermore, posters aren't necessary to success. There was a time on AFF when posters didn't mean a story's credibility or popularity.

10. What do you usually write in your foreword?

Disclaimers, warnings, etc.

11. What font do you use? Font size?

Times New Roman, 12 pt.

12. Do you write stories about your bias?

xD Actually I never really write my bias...LOL. Leeteuk is my bias from Super Junior, but my OTP is KyuWook. But sometimes I do write HenHae and Henry Lau is A GOD. I LOVE THAT MAN. He's my ultimate bias in...everything. He's absolutely perfect and FANTASTIC. Okay. I'm done.

13. Which of your fictional characters can you relate to the most? Why?

I write a lot of sappy romances and in reality I'm quite the non-romantic. Perhaps a better interpretation of the word "relate" is "cry for"? I have only cried for a few of my characters because I felt their emotions so strongly -- not because I have experienced their problems, but because I just connected.

It would have to be Ryeowook from Winning Hearts. I feel very connected to his ideals on loyalty and love that is supposed to be everlasting. Of all the characters I've written, I felt he was the most human.

14. Have you requested reviews for your stories?

I've only requested one review ever. It was a long time ago and for one of my first stories "When it Rains, Angels are Crying". The reviewer was DevilLaugh. If you want to see the review, here's a link: http://devilaughreviews.blogspot.com/2012/01/pandorasv13s-when-it-rains-angels-are.html

15. What are your weaknesses when it comes to writing?

Probably plot? I focus on the characters more than the plot, just because I think a plot is like the surroundings or props in a story. The characters are who you remember.

16. Why do you write fanfics?

It's a stress reliever. It's a place to just throwdown whatever gunky ideas I have building up inside. It's also a place to explore and experiment and gain critiques.

17. Any advice/tips about writing?

Write about something you enjoy. Have fun when you write. Don't be bogged down by what you think will get you popular or what you think people want to see. It's your story to share. No one else can take that from you.

Thanks for answering my questions :D

#13 Yes. "Relate to" could also mean understand - that character you understand the most that you root for him/her or that character who resembles you the most
#15 Then you most probably write character-driven stories.

haha how does having a bias that isn't in your OTP work? I've always been biased to a certain vocal called Kim Ryeowook and my OTP is Kyuwook so I just spazz over the two of them in general XD
