So many story ideas, so little time

Danger

"So, have you found the target Taeminnie?"  Key asked as he lounged in the sun chair that was folded out on the roof of the apartment building. He tried to lay as still as possible so he wouldn't mess up his outfit that was dripping with designer labels. The building was only four floors up so the boys liked to hang out on the roof and just watch people walk by. Every once in a while they would actually go down and socialize with the peasants that walked beneath them. Or, at least that was what Key called them, but he was a diva. Everyone was a peasant to him. Taemin sat on the edge of the building, his feet dangling over the edge. He was wearing a very expensive suit that was perfectly fitted to him and he was slouched over trying to light his cigarette without the wind blowing it out. When it finally caught, he flicked his head up, his scraggy, new dyed blonde hair hung in front of his eyes and he blew smoke out of his nose like a resting dragon. He tucked some of his hair behind his ear, showing off the large cross earring that shined in the light.

"Give it time hyung. I'll find it." Taemin said taking another large drag from the cigarette. Onew beside Key on the ground with a cookie hanging out of his mouth. He stretched out his legs, his dress pants covered in dirt and crumbs but he didn't care. Onew had an air of relaxation around him that never seemed to fade, no matter the situation.

"Leave it to Taemin. He is the best in the business." Minho walked through the door leading to the roof with Jonghyun right behind him.

"I know, but I just get so bored. Why couldn't we have normal jobs like, international super star or master chef...maybe an internationally recognised tattoo artist. " Key whined and pulled out his cell phone to check his reflection. Minho snatched the phone out of his hand and scolded him before doing the same thing.

"You have no idea what normal is...do you Key hyung?" Jonghyun joked as he  patted Taemin on the shoulder, the younger boy not even flinching. "Any sign of the target?" Jonghyun asked and was answered with silence. "Alright then...take your time." Jonghyun patted Taemin's shoulder again before sitting on the ground beside Onew. "He's still mad at me, isn't he?"

"I would be too if my team mate shot me in the shoulder." Onew commented after swallowing a cookie whole.

"It was an accident!" Jonghyun cried out, pleading his case for the hundredth time. Key and Minho just chuckled and Jonghyun groaned, they were never going to let it go. "Whatever, I apologised a bunch of times. He needs to grow up and not hold a grudge.

"I think you meant to say bullet fragments...his shoulder is holding onto bullet fragments. Isn't that right Taeminnie?" Kay said while laughing. There was no response and Key looked over to see Taemin was gone. The boys ran over to the edge and saw Taemin casually walking on the sidewalk with his hands in his pockets and the cigarette still in his mouth.

"He didn't fall....pity." Jonghyun muttered and that little comment earned him an elbow in the ribs, courtesy of Minho.

"Let's go." Minho and the others ran to the door and sped down the stairs.

"How did he get down four flights of stairs in five seconds? Is he a teleporter?!" Onew whined as he made it to the main floor last. Even the diva who refused to work out, was in better shape than Onew. It was embarrassing.

As Taemin walked down the sidewalk, his eyes locked onto the target, the gun that was holstered to his side suddenly felt heavy. His hands were shaking even though they were tucked away into his pockets. It was always like this before a kill. He took another long drag of the cigarette, the smoke filling his lungs and when he breathed out, he exhaled all of the smoke and all of the worry within his body. Suddenly the target stopped walking so Taemin did the same. The target, a young woman, was crouched down next to a little boy who was crying. He pointed up to tree and sitting in one of the branches was a balloon with Pororo on it. Taemin watched her as he took another long drag of his cigarette. The young woman smiled at him and dropped her backpack. She stood up and the reason Taemin picked her out so easily became very apparent. Her hair was tied up into a messy bun with her bangs still slightly hanging into her face, she was wearing a green hooded drawstring-waist jacket, a plain white tee under and skinny jeans that had the union jack designed all over it.

"Wait here for a second." Her voice was soft as she spoke to the child before she bravely climbed into the tree without a second thought.  She climbed up expertly and grabbed the balloon string before getting back down. With a little huff, she straightened out her clothes and then crouched down beside the boy again. "Don't cry, alright. Noona got your balloon." She handed it over and the boy took it but was still crying. "Come on now, be a man. Stop crying." She tried to sound like she was being tough and the little boy forced himself to stop crying. She giggled before taking her jacket sleeve and whipping away the boogers running down the boys face. "Good. Now go to your mommy before she gets worried." With that the boy ran off and joined his mother who was busy trying to find him.

"She's a nice person...what a shame." Taemin started walking towards her, reaching to the gun that was calling out to him. In the corner of his eye he saw a man stand up from a bench and head straight for the girl. He reached behind his jacket and pulled out a gun for everyone to see. The young woman had no idea and she picked up her bag and continued to walk in the direction she was going. Looking between the man the target, Taemin felt a lump of guilt drop in the pit of his stomach. He didn't even look back to see where his team members were and jumped into action. Taemin threw away the cigarette and ran to the woman. The man raised the gun and a few people screamed, this caught the woman's attention and she turned to see what was causing all the commotion. Taemin ran as fast as he could, pull his gun out of the holster and shot at the gun, hitting his leg. The man stumbled to the ground, groaning in pain. Taemin reached the girl and grabbed her wrist.

"Come with me if you want to live." Taemin said and the girl just stared at him with wide eyes. There was a loud groan and they both looked back to see the man standing back up, the gun raised once again. "Come on!" Taemin pulled the woman tight against him, burring her face into his chest. He shot again, this time hitting the man in the chest. He fell to the ground like a sack of bricks. In no time, three other men jumped out of a car and ran over. All of them had their guns out. Taemin took the girls hand and took off running.

"FREEZE!" The men yelled behind them, shooting before the other two could even respond. People were now running and screaming in every direction which helped Taemin who wanted to disappear. He would stop every once in a while and with the girl protected behind him, he would fire off a few rounds avoiding the civilians at all costs.

"Taeminnie~ What did you do now?" Key and the rest of the guys caught up with him and Taemin shoved the girl at them.

"Protect her. We have a double booking on our hands." Taemin pointed his gun towards the three guys coming at them.

"Come with me." Key said cheerfully, leading the confused and scared girl away while Jonghyun, Minho, Onew and Taemin broke off from each other. Almost all of the people had cleared out so it was only Taemin and Onew facing square on with the three unknown men.

"Give us the girl and walk away." One of the men warned. Making Onew chuckle.

"Why do I think you're full of ?" Onew raised his gun and the three men did the same. Taemin took a deep breath as he stared down one of the guys. It was total silence and Taemin felt his finger itch to pull the trigger but he made himself count to five.

"One last chance." The man said. "I'll give you to the count of three. One, two-" He was cut off when Taemin pulled the trigger and shot three rounds into his chest. The other two men fired only to be taken down by Jonghyun and Minho who came in from the sides and cut them off.  Taemin unloaded the gun magazine and reached out his hand. Onew pulled one out and handed it to him and Taemin loaded the gun and put it back in its holster.

"Double booking, huh?" Jonghyun went over to the guys and started searching them for identification.

"What do we do with the girl now? Key has her so he can just kill her now if we give the signal." Minho pulled out his cell phone and hit Key's number on speed dial, ready to call up his team member.

"Hold up, look at this." Jonghyun pulled out one of the guys wallet and the only thing inside was a royal blue business card with a bright red 'X' in the middle. "We were hired by the same damn people." Jonghyun threw the card in the air and stood up with his hands on his hips.

"We keep the girl. At least until we find out why we were double booked. After that we can kill her." Onew, although he didn't act like it, was the leader of their little team and his word was final. Taemin sighed heavily and pulled out his cigarette pack from his jackets inside pocket.

"I should have just shot her in the middle of the damn street." Taemin lit the cigarette and took a long drag, spitting out the smoke in rage.

"Yeah, you should have. Idiot." Jonghyun shoved Taemin lightly and walked away with Minho and Onew following after him to where Key had taken the girl. Taemin looked back at the guys and picked up the business card that Jonghyun had thrown away. He put it in his pocket before looking back down at the men that they had killed in cold blood.

"Rookies." He muttered with a smile on his face as he followed his team members to find out the truth behind today's events.

Wow, this is really good. I'm just a fan and reader, but really, this fic, if you ever got enough time to continue this, I'll definitely check it out! This beginning was pretty good and it got me hooked, although it was weird to have this characterization of Taemin. All bad boy and such. Anyway, good job! :)
