My Daragon OTP...
I currently have an obsession of writing Daragon paired stories. For fanfiction I just like the pairing of these two stars, Dara and Jiyong; they're cute and have the right combination of chemistry and angst to make a great leading couple in stories. But in real life I'm sorry to say I don't think the two make such a great match. Like any other Appler I'd be thrilled if one day by some miracle they did end up together. But whenever I see pics of Dara with the people she seems happiest with, and GD and the people he's happiest with, I realize that their pairing is just my own selfish wish and that these two stars really are probably too different to ever be a real life pair.
Jiyong to me has transformed more and more into G-Dragon in his real life, which is fine. He loves the young, rich, fast lane. Heck, he's worked hard to get there so I think let him enjoy it! In a few years I see him settling down more and becoming a super great music producer and someone still highly respected in the music industry. His time in the spotlight though is now and he's making his mark on the industry. I say more power to him. His personal friends are of the same mindframe as him: young, rich, fast lane kids that love the bling bling, high fashion, good life, and are striving to leave their mark on their respective fields. South Korea has a great set of young Ambassadors in them.
Dara, on the other hand, strikes me as someone who has consciously set out to set a clear difference between her onstage and offstage personnas. She has transformed herself successfully since her YG trainee days into Dara of 2NE1, but out of the limelight she seems most happiest when she transforms back into "Sandy". Her personal friends - even the entertainer ones -- are more conservative, down to earth, and have a different vibe than GD's Nuthang crowd. For me, I like that Dara seems to have that clear distinction between her stage life and her personal life. When she's with YG and 2NE1 she becomes our beautiful goddess Dara, but when she's not onstage she transforms back into Sandy. Still loveable, cute, and humble, and easily able to exchange the super star personna for the girl next door. Maybe that's why I hope that when she finally finds and announces her real love one day it will be someone that will love and match both her roles as the superstar goddess Dara that we all love, but also the down to earth Sandy that we also adore.
