This is a rant filled with my personal opinions. I don’t mind if you disagree me, but please keep in mind, that if you do comment, I will most likely reply back.

S.N.S.D (a.k.a Girls’ Generation) is getting close to their 7^th year anniversary. I remember watching their debut stage and being mesmerized by their youth and beauty. Of course I’m stilled entranced by them, but it was a different feeling 7 years ago. Probably because they were in their late teens when they debuted and now some of them are going to 26 next year.

For as long as I have known, S.M. Entertainment does not allow their idols to date, at least not publicly. They have always been very strict with this rule, but this year they haven’t denied any of their idols dating, all of them being from S.N.S.D. I know that most SONES are very sad and heartbroken, and I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t sad, but I’m sad because the members that are dating are proving that they are growing up. However that’s only 10% about what I feel about this girl group. 90% about how I feel is pure happiness.

On January 1^st of 2014, when it was announced that Yoona was officially dating, I was so happy. Ever since Seohyun turned 21, I’ve been dreaming that one of the members of S.N.S.D would publicly date. Honestly speaking, these young women aren’t getting any younger. Sure, there beautiful and some of the members definitely have natural beauty, but the truth is that the more your age increases, the lesser chance of you getting a boyfriend. I don’t want the members of S.N.S.D to turn into the members of B.E.G (a.k.a Brown Eyed Girls). B.E.G fans, don’t take this comment offensively. I’m not trying to say that the members of B.E.G are bad singers; in fact, I love their music very much. What I’m trying to say is that I don’t want the members of S.N.S.D to be over thirty with no boyfriend just because they are afraid that the amount of fans they have will drop. Look of Sunye from the Wonder Girls. She is around the same age as the majority of the S.N.S.D members and she is already married and has a beautiful baby girl. Congratulations Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yoona, and Sooyoung

Now I am going to be explaining my perspective about this recently touching subject about Taeyeon and Baekhyun dating. Before doing this, I have read all of the articles that have discussed about Taeyeon and Baekhyun dating and have even asked my K-pop friends about it.  My opinion on this matter has remained unchanged, so lets’ begin.

1. Age Difference (This is something my friends think is a problem)

It is well known that Taeyeon is about 3 years older that Baekhyun, but to me, that’s not a big . As longs as they really like each other, age is just a number :) 

2. “I won’t date until I am 35”

Netizens are always bring up this quote from Baekhyun, saying that it hurt them and stuff. I realize that people like to fantasize about themselves dating Baekhyun in real life, but in reality Baekhyun is not going to date someone unless he knows her. I sometimes wonder if people really do want Baekhyun to be a bachelor until he is close to the age of 40. There are also several ways to interpret this quote. Baekhyun could have meant that he won’t date publicly. Baekhyun also probably said that to increase the amount of fans.

3. Taeyeon using her Instagram account for personal usage

To me, this issue is very annoying. Taeyeon created her Instagram account about a little bit more than a year before  going out with Baekhyun. I know that a lot of SONES are complaining that Taeyeon’s SNS account is only for connecting with her fans and instead of doing that, she was secretly sending code messages to Baekhyun. Currently, Taeyeon has 539 photos on Instagram. Out of those 539 photos, most fans have picked on these pictures on her Instagram as the secret codes: Oreos, Taeyeon coffee mugs, a picture of her doing the same poses as Baekhyun, chocolate ice cream plushie, and the “Can I like you?” picture. So out of 539 pictures, 5 of them are secret codes, unless fans are going to try to say that everything that is black and white in the pictures is a secret message to Baekhyun. Most people are forgetting that even before Baekhyun and Taeyeon got together and EXO just debuted that Baekhyun stated that he was a huge S.N.S.D fan, so Taeyeon is still reaching out to a fan.

4. Instagram Apology

This seemed ridiculous to me. Did Taeyeon really need to type an apology letter to her fans? I honestly thought that the pictures that fans are suspecting to be secret codes are a very cute and clever idea. Because Taeyeon and Baekhyun probably barely see each other because of their busy schedules and they were still secretly dating back then, an innocent picture sent as a reminder to their partner that they love them is adorable. Taeyeon didn’t “betray” her fans. K-pop star have creating SNS so their fans can be familiar with the idol and know a little bit more about the idol. Since fans now know that Taeyeon and Baekhyun, that is now one more thing that fans know about these two idols. Is dating between idols a bad thing? No, it is not. I cannot believe that even after Taeyeon sent out the apology letter, fans were still not able to accept it. There were so many negative comments that Taeyeon had to block all of her fans from her Instagram. 

5. Online Petition

Now things are going too far. I was shocked to read that so many fans signed an online petition for Baekhyun to leave EXO. Kris is already leaving EXO (sorry to people who believe he’s going to return) and now fans want another member to leave.  Is this because they want the members in EXO K and EXO M to be even? This is not a joke! Forget about “EXO we are ONE”, it’s starting to look like “EXO we are BROKEN”. Is this problem so serious that people hate Baekhyun? I don’t care if fans are saying “I don’t hate Baekhyun, I just hate that he used his SNS to communicate with Taeyeon”. To me, that sounds like you hate Baekhyun. I never knew that EXO fans were that vicious. I understand that Baekhyun’s relationship with Taeyeon was right after Kris announced suing S.M. Entertainment (talk about terrible timing), but it wasn’t their fault that the press decided to release the rumor about them dating so soon.

Saesung and very sensitive fans are some of worse fans an idol could ever have. Sure, accepting fans are great, but people wanted to become idols for a reason, and that reason is to impress people. However, idols want to impress people with their talent, not their appearance nor their social status. My advice is “don’t hate, appreciate <3”
