So yesterday (June 19, 2014) DISPATCH exposed these “dating” photos of Baekhyun and Taeyeon. As the new spread all over the internet, SM has quickly confirmed that the two are indeed dating for four months. I was not online the entire morning so I just found out about this last night. I, myself, was shocked about the news but instead of pouring my heart in writing a very long blog (which is I’m actually doing now), I decided to read the other EXO fans’ (especially, Baekhyun stans) reactions first.

As I browsed through Facebook, Tumblr tags and Twitter, I was very satisfied because I read a lot of mixed reactions and honestly, it was quite entertaining.

And just to break it down – 30% from BaekYeon supporters (the one who say they’re happy for them and will support them no matter what), 30% from BaekYeon haters (well, they are ChanBaek supporters), 20% from these I-will-leave-this-fandom-now-because-I-can’t-take-this-anymore fans (they can’t take all the “dramas” within the fandom and because they LOVE Baekhyun so much that they can’t take seeing him date a girl…or just seeing him date anyone) and the other 20% from these detectives who were able to come up with such clever speculations about this very sudden announcement of SMent. I’m referring to these fans who keep on reiterating how everything was planned to a.) Bury Kris’ issue, b.) Get more attention for SNSD (?) c.) Compete with JYP or JYJ or to any other agencies or groups which are having a comeback and d.) Get more MONEY (SMent’s stock and shares).

Alright, so let me share my thoughts about this (and the main reason why I’m writing this). For all EXO fans and to be specific, Baekhyun stans, I understand what you feel. Like, seriously, the pain, heartbreaks… it’s inevitable. I know that most of us here spend most of our time and have been very devoted supporting our boys. I know this kind of joy that our biases could give us by simply by watching them perform, smile, laugh or just simply, how they breathe. Their mere existence gives us this inexplicable joy that we can’t just found anywhere. And trust me, when I say that I know that pain of seeing/hearing/learning that your bias is DATING an idol or an ordinary person… I mean it. I DO UNDERSTAND.

I’ve been a fan (in and out for several times) of KPOP for 6-7 years now. I have supported newly debuted groups and been supporting some of them until now. I used to have 1 bias until it became 1…long list of biases. I realized it changes over time.  But of course, I have this ULTIMATE BIAS. I fell in love with one idol to another over and over and over again. And broke my heart several times because of different reasons – like, a member left the group (and the person happened to be my bias), the group completely broke up, my bias became part of military enlistment, my bias became part of WGM, my bias became part of musical/movie/drama that inquired them to have a “kissing scene”, my bias dated a celebrity/idol/a fan and many more reasons.

Now, Baekhyun is NOT my bias in EXO, honestly. He’s part of my TOP 5 but KYUNGSOO and LU HAN are my biases. So I know you might ask, do you really have an idea what we feel if Baekhyun is not even your bias? Again, my answer is YES. Someone asked me, what would you feel if Kyungsoo starts dating a girl too? I said, WELL, THAT’S A GREAT NEWS! HE’S FINALLY GROWN UP AND JUST GOT HIS DRIVER’S LICENSE SO HE DESERVES TO DATE A GIRL NOW. What about if it’s Lu Han? Well, I’ll be hurt because I thought we’re meant to be (JK!) but come on, that’s another sign of manliness. Lu Han is manly, just like what he’s been trying to prove us. So I’ll be happy.

It’s not easy and to include all of these speculations going around this issue, it’s not really helping. I know that in some way it raises up your hopes that it’s not all true and that is where being “delusional” kicks in. But I’m not saying that these speculations are completely false. As I read them, they actually made sense. But we all have to face the reality. What if all of these are TRUE? What if BaekYeon are really in love with each other? With SMent’s history about dating, it might be really unbelievable, but if you’re really a fan of Baekhyun, you must know that this guy has a huge CRUSH on Taeyeon.

What I’m trying to say is, let’s all be REALISTIC. Let’s all be BRAVE ENOUGH to face the reality that our IDOLS will soon date or marry SOMEONE ELSE. I need to be a little harsh here but, we all know that the chance we have to be with our bias is 1….1%. You’re lucky enough to have that chance, actually.

Let me also share this, when I was 18 years old and still in school, all I do every day was to listen to KPOP. I had numerous amounts of sites that I checked daily. Like what they say – I eat, drink and breathe KPOP. But when these dramatic events started to happen, I also started to feel broken and felt like I have nothing else left. Yes, it was horrible. However, I was able to get back on my feet. It was like; I was really in this relationship and had to break up with the one I love. And suddenly, I decided to move on. I met new groups and fell in love with them again. Then, I realized that I was not feeling hurt anymore and I could just enjoy the songs of my previous bias. That’s life. It is meant to go on and on.

So for those who are hurt, just relish it. It’s okay to not feel okay. You can cry and scream. Eventually, the pain will go away. And then once you’re done crying, think very hard – will I stop loving or supporting him now because he’s already dating someone? Should I just forget everything I did for this group? Just one thing, don’t be BITTER. Like, posting hateful comments for Baekhyun and Taeyeon on their Instagram accounts. Seriously.

This too shall pass and what matters is we learn how to deal with this as a real, mature fan. Our idols need a fan who will support them all the way, with every decision they make for their lives. Sooner or later, we will all realize that things do happen in real life. Life goes on.

And to SM Entertainment: We haven’t forgotten about Kris’ issue. That says everything.
