style. as the gorgeous daughter to two of korea's many underrated clothiers, kang minhee has traveled through the world of fashion magazines, ad pull-outs, and fabric racks; her catalog-trotting and posh shopping style has inspired her chic getup. minhee is particularly fond of lip gloss, statement clutches, high-waisted trousers, and decadent dresses. she is also all about that modish blazer look coupled with the classy, sassy oxfords and messenger bag. sometimes she'll do jongin's cardigan but that's only sometimes (which means most of the time). minhee is one to use fashion to distance herself from the other students; her disdain for her fellow peers compels minhee to chose clothing that emphasizes her own individuality; never one for dressing down, minhee exclusively experiments with a variant array of textures and patterns. her selections in dress are superbly girly, boldly chic, and always memorable. jongin's cardigan ¦

CHARACTER.
background.
minhee was born and raised in the urban capital metropolis of seoul—officially seoul special city—to kang jonghyun and kang mihae. they resided in the heart of downtown, in a quaint condominium complex that looms over the myeongdong district of seoul, where fascino, etc. (the family boutique) is strategically located. minhee's urban upbringing comprised of pampering and "oooh, baby minhee!" and well— minhee grew up and turned out just fine, much thanks to two loving parents who wanted nothing but the best for their children and an elder sister who looked over minhee well.

however, despite her parents's shared so-freaking-happy-go-lucky-that-we'll-just-get-our-baby-whatever-she-wants attitude, their leash on the youngest offspring began to tighten around junior high when the mention of boys came around (and quite frankly, minhee blames her god awful elder sister for spilling the beans about that one lee bihyun classmate who was revealed to have given minhee a valentine gram). she didn't have as much freedom after that v-day incident; no more trips to gyuri's house (bc honestly nam gyuri could be code name for boyfriend for all they knew); no more going to the ice cream parlour after school because boys; and no more phone or social media because wow minhee could be talking to boys. serious? it was one valentine gram and minhee was sure lee bihyun had no intention to deflower her, as her parents had pleasantly euphemized.

but what her parents didn't know wouldn't hurt them. although expected to put a tighter reign on their daughter's freedom, the kang parents created a spoiled princess who used her twinkling eye-smile and charming words to get what she wanted. it started with innocently telling her classmate, seunghyun, how she hadn't been able to go to the bakery to get her favorite pineapple bread lately because of her parents' sudden authoritarian dictatorship; lo and behold, the next day; that same classmate brings her a loaf of pineapple bread, sheepishly claiming that his older brother had leftovers and seunghyun wasn't all that into pineapple bread as he was into green tea funnel cake anyways so "you can have it instead". the second incident was when minhee's teacher had unexpectedly turned up the air conditioning with no intention of turning it down; minhee, suffering a cold, pleasantly cursed mr. moon behind his back in a fit of coughs. however, seconds afterward, minhee was instantly relieved when her seat mate, kyungmin, kindly offered her his jacket. and omg, light bulb. what she could no longer have.. could now be easily re-attained, simply through the means of a sweet smile and casual utterances of "hi oppa"!

and thus, princess kang minhee was born.

traits.
{ + } flamboyant, dramatic, lively, vivacious, self-assured, valiant
{ – } standoffish, confrontational, lacks discipline, arrogant, impulsive, stubborn

personality.
kang minhee's outward manner is often described to be flamboyant, egotistical, and dramatic. however on the contrary, she is, in fact, a young lady dedicated to her friends, family, and only sometimes her studies. despite being of middle-class background, kang minghee is self-dubbed a princess, regal in demeanor, upper-class etiquette, and shameless flattery. she establishes a life for herself, living fortuitously with an air of self-confidence that resonates brightly under the shower of compliments and self-praise. minhee in herself is the epitome of comic relief, an outspoken and audacious character whom is still quite naive despite her nearing adulthood. however, minhee's naivete may just be a euphemistic way to categorize her ignorance. minhee isn't stupid; she picks up on social cues – she practically feeds on them, considering her outwardly flirtatious nature. she simply dwells in her delusions more often than not, heeds to the materialistic things rather than what possessions she is fortunate enough to already have. fancy cars, fancy clothes, fancy mansion — minhee figures she was born in the wrong social class because money can buy her all the happiness she desires.

facial expressions are minhee's best feat; whether they are coy and alluring or humorously exaggerated for effect, minhee can easily capture her audience's attention with a simply quirk of her (perfectly-threaded) brow. she celebrates romance (minus its cliches) and longs for intimacy, although in general, minhee is still quite blind to her own feelings of romantic love towards jongin, of which most of her classmates are completely aware. the demeanor minhee chooses to depict through sultry eyes and luscious lips differs drastically from her true personality; of all characters told in any story, in fact, kang minhee would be the most two-faced insofar. because although minhee makes a poised and charming temptress, she is often bumbling and attention-seeking outside of that melieu (particularly in jongin's company). in addition, minhee is quite confrontational; coupled with her self-indulged arrogance and stubbornness, she has the courage to speak her mind; her passion and liveliness simply fuel the fire that evokes impulsive mannerisms, and it does have a tendency to get out of her hand, for minhee lacks a structured rule of discipline.

in summation, minhee is quite accustomed to getting what she wants. she is a charming speaker, with a blatant love for skinship, appearing to be versatile when the situation calls for it. however, this attribute also leads into the habit of leaving projects midway and never quite getting jobs done unless she is probed consistently to do so. minhee's self-assured personality catalyzes her vivacious nature, alluring and sultry and flirty and coquettish and kittenish and all that; boys are her favorite things to play with. it helps that they buy her things – nice things. but there's just one problem, and it has nothing to do with minhee's behavior: it's jongin and his stupid cocksure attitude.

love interest. kim jongin
back up love interest. huang zitao
personality.
because of jongin's immaturity in dealing with mingling and sharing people, he is childishly over-possessive of each of his friends (namely minhee but ok). naturally, jongin is on par with kang minhee on a lot of things. he is charming and charismatic and playful; but he isn't quite as outspoken or overly-dramatic. jongin prefers the suave hook, line, sinker method of reeling in his fanbase. whereas minhee is all action, whatnot with her not-so-subtle winks and flick of the hair, jongin is all talk. of course his puffy-lipped smirk always comes in handy, but it's namely jongin's baritone-rich timbre that gets the hearts palpitating.

jongin, furthermore, is cocksure, confident in the beknownst abilities of his words and handsomely appearance. he gets hot-headed when things don't go his way because that's what he's used to — having things go his way, and it's not a difficult feat to accomplish when he's been dubbed the school's walking demigod. this stubbornness paired with his straight-forward vanity instigates a bad-boy image that only his friends and minhee knows doesn't exist. because underneath the plastic flattery and shallow compliments to fuel his popularity, jongin's playful flirtations dwindle down to a boy who is merely seeking company to combat the loneliness he suffers at home in the shadows of his elder sisters.

history.
ah, the sweet mother's-friend's-son named kim jongin. the kim's resided in the same complex as the kang's, actually only two floors above. many playdates were set; compromising couple names were given; and a materialistic friendship was acquiesced upon between the two mothers-who-just-so-happened-to-have-been-sorority-sisters-in-college-omg. but those two are irrelevant; this is about kang minhee and kim jongin. hypothetically, they were supposed to fall madly in love with one another—blissfully schemed by their mothers ahem—and well, that was actually going well for the first thirteen years of their lives, really. if they weren't seen playing in the sandbox together, or walking through the school halls with one another, they were either eating side-by-side in the canteen (having traded lunches because for some reason, minhee's mom never realized how much minhee disliked broiled vegetables) or taking the bus home together after school. given, sandbox playdates became study sessions and buddy-lunch-trading turned into "buy me patbingsu" and half-assed "iou's". it was dandy, jonghee was dandy.

of course, until they hit puberty and jongin figured that there were other existent females in the world aside from just kang minhee. post-puberty jongin was hot. and well, i guess the rest was kinda just that: history.

PLOTLINE.
plotline. overdose
expansion.
they are the best friends that shouldn't be best friends. both of them parasitic and theoretically very toxic to one another, minhee and jongin are the childhood-buddies-gone-wrong. following the respective revelations of their charismatic abilities, the pair drifted apart from one another. minhee was no longer dependent on jongin's presence and jongin no longer heeded the responsibility of protecting the other. but for some reason, when their so-called catches-of-the-day (whomever minhee has delegated to bring her pineapple bread; or respectively, whomever jongin thought would make him a nice home-packed lunch) was absent or too placid for their liking, the two—like elastic—are drawn together again, snapping back into the camaraderie they once shared as adolescents. of course it's a more.. refined camaraderie now, whatnot with pet names and subtle touches and hair flips and surreptitious smirks. soon enough, it's no longer about pineapple breads or home-packed lunches; it's something about the way jongin calls her darling; something about the way minhee pushes jongin's shoulder away when she gets flustered; something about her increasing demands; and something about jongin being the only one able to satiate the princess's hunger for moremoremore. something about that tells their peers—unbeknownst to the two idiotic flirts themselves—that maybe, and just maybe, there's more to it than just "being used to each other" or "having been childhood friends" that minhee and jongin keep going back to each other for more.

INTERVIEW.

what kind of student are you?
yeah, i wish i was a good student. i dont know, i do enough to just pass — barely pass. there's a reason jungah-unnie is the first-born and not me; first-borns do all the work. it's the job of the second-born to leech off of that isn't it? just kidding! i really do wish i could go back in time, though; maybe i would've studied harder. maybe i would've done more homework, maybe i would've slept less, who knows? not me, i don't know. i'm actually really just content with my art grade — art is my best subject, you know? i'd rather excel in what makes me happy rather than do something stupid like math. oh my god, math though. math really needs to disappear, please and thank you.

are you involved in any extracurricular activities? any school clubs? any school organization or sports?etc.
i'm only a part of the sewing club; it's a relaxing place to be, i guess. nobody really bothers you and i can use the free fabric they have to sew new clothes for myself. it's win-win. i get free fabric and the sewing club has one extra member to hep meet the minimum requirement of ten club members per established club. i practically saved them from gettng dissolved by our student body cabinet! and well, i also take art classes. i really think that's the only class i bother paying attention in. the lectures are useful to me; they teach me how to structure my models and blend my pencil marks evenly. it helps with the whole fashion spiel i got going on, you know? but yeah that's it. i wanted to join our culinary arts club to learn how to make my pineapple bread, but a lot of girls in there don't like me for some reason. and i'm not stupid, you know? their glares and stuff make it so obvious, oh my god. so stupid. i don't wanna be around that, so i noped outta there.

what are your plans for the future?
how far into the future are we speaking? of course i wanna finish high school. but then after that, i don't know. maybe go to a liberal arts college, maybe a fashion school if i can find a good one. then rack up enough money with a job to pay for grad school overseas? i just want to do fashion, you know. i really like it; i like the fast-paced lifestyle, the whole glam and glitz stuff. say i don't become a high profile designer, so what? if i can't rack up the money i need to found my own boutique, i'll just inherit fascino, etc. no problem; jungah-unnie's not gonna take it, she's too busy studying to become an actuary anyways.

what are your priorities?
do what you love and love what you do? it's not necessarily just fashion, but whatever makes you happy. and of course that's fashion for me, but that will always come second to my family and close friends (and yeah, that actually includes jongin. surprised?). you can have as much fun as you want; do what you gotta do, sure. but family and friends are the things that are going to stick with you from beginning to end, and i think a lot of people forget that, you know? but i don't know, i really gotta work on prioritizing my together; in my opinion, i'm not exactly the perfect role model when it comes to responsibilities. but i guess i'm on the right track... for now... hopefully.

THE END.

it's ok if i just link examples, right? to save typing and reading time?
