Wolf and The Humanoid Review SUBSCRIBERS PLEASE HELP.

Just got back my review for 'Wolf and the Humanoid'

Honestly...I'm puzzled by it. So, I want to know what are your thoughts(my readers). Because to be frank, I felt quite disheartened by it, because only god knows how much effort I put into the story.

here's the link

To be honest, yes the reviews are "biased" based on the critique of the individual.

Generally speaking, you may choose to accept it or ignore it. I can see that you have put a lot of thought into the story but I want to point out a few points that were mentioned:

- trying too many things at once can be a bad thing unless you plot it out in little mini arcs.
I see that you do indeed label off your chapters but with longer running fics...

it's good to make a mini prologue chapter that eases readers into what's happening while creating a backstory that "refreshes" + give an idea of what to expect.

- being descriptive is good but over analysing this aspect in a story can prove to be repetitive as the story stretches on.

Some parts of your story can be cut down a bit --- there are 3 sentences that describe the same thing when it could be worded into 1 sentence alone.

- Spacing after " is one thing that puzzled me as well. Yes the reviewer did state that they are "harsh" but it's not exactly the end of the world.

============================

I've been on and off reading your story - my feelings: I quickly lose interest because each chapter seems to drag on little by little. I hope you won't be taken aback by my comment but I am just saying what I truly feel.

I do have chat it up sessions with my friends/subscribers/readers - maybe you can join us on tinychat once in a while :)

We exchange ideas and also plan on what can be thrown in or scrapped out, basically like a peer tutor.

Having an editor is also another way but can only go so far if your thoughts aren't in one place. Do drop by, I really wish that you cheer up :) being a writer and in the magazine industry myself - I intake criticism daily and vice versa.

The thing about reviews is that some of them can be very biased. I mean,a certain reviwer may have one build of the perfect story in their mind, but another reeviwer might look at things differently and have a different defenition for perfection.
Mostly, I think you should take in from the review what you see as necessary, I haven't read all of it because most of what I've seen were insults- I don't say that pointing out the bad things is wrong but pointing out the good things is necessary to know what you're good with- it's okay to disagree with the review, or for the reviewer to not like your story, you can please everyone all the time.
As long as you like writing, and fix the things you want to fix, it's a good story. The important thing is to enjoy writing, if you do it just to impress someone ten what's the point- do what you like to do, and write how you like to.
Though, don't dismiss the review entirely, there could be things you would want to fix and it's okay- you're only getting better and better, not all of us are wizards when it comes to writing and it's okay to make mistakes and not to have the best grammar; you can work on it.
Also, please don't count on only one review- as I said in the beginning, people have different points of view on these things, you can always ask for more reviews if you'd like to.
I'm not a professional and I merely read for my own enjoyment, but I do think your work is well done, I have what to compare it to and it's like a million miles away from being utterly bad.
Keep on writing and keep on the great work, you're only getting better with each erase and each new word that comes out! Don't lose hope nor the enjoyment of writing, remember, you're not doing it for anyone but for yourself, it's your story to write.
