Personality : Kyumin is the definition of mysterious. He doesn't like getting to attatched to people because in his mind any relationship that's too good ends quickly. He's pretty quiet, and doesn't speak unless he's spoken too. He usually keeps all his feelings bottled up inside, causing him to stress out often. Kyunmin is the type of person who thinks a lot, and usually worries over things  from over-thinking things. He has a hard exterior and is a very brave guy, due to a rough childhood. He feels like he often has to protect his family, and needs to be strong for them. He's an independant type of guy, and doesn't like depending on others. Kyumin may seem cold, and distant but he only keeps himself that way because he's afraid of getting hurt...His temper is tiny. He doesn't like taking peoples bull, and can explode easily.  He doesn't realise that he seems mean, it's just his natural aura. He tries not to be too mean, but he can't help it. He's also the type of guy who can be over-protective, and puts others before him. He loves and cherishes those close to him, and would do anything for them. (family, close friends, etc.) Kyumin also isn't the type of guy who beats around the bush. He's very honest and blunt, therefore, making him seem rude. He'd rather be honest than lie to someone, he absolutely cannot stand lying, or liars.  Kyumin is a very selfless guy. He's not the least bit selfish, and is very generous.  When he was in high school, he would help with people in need, and give a lot of him time to others.Only a very small amount of people actually get to know Kyumin, and are close with him. Kyumin is truly a creative, fun guy. He loves making other's happy, and hates hurting others. If he's comfortable and close to you, he will talk a lot more, crack jokes, and show his true bright colours.  He can't stand aegyo, but has a soft-spot for his younger sister's. 

Background : Kyumin grew up in Irvine Orange County, California with his family. Kyumin is the middle child in his family, and has an older brother named taekyuk and a younger sister named saeron. Ever since Kyumin was young, he remembered his mother and father would never get along. They would always yell and fight, and even at that young age, kyumin and his older brother had gotten used to it. Kyumin was still a toddler when his parents fought, so he didn't remember as much as his brother, but he still remembered the look of his parents face, and how loud they would yell at one another. Kyumin's father was an alcohlic, and was addicted to gambling. He would gamble the houses rent and often lose all the money, causing the family great problems. Kyumin's mother became depressed, but had no choice but to work even harder since her husband quit work to continue gambling. Eventually, the two divorced when Kyumin was six years old. Kyumin and his brother stayed with their mother, and they never saw their father again after he left one night when everyone was asleep, without a single word. With nothing left in California, Kyumin and his family moved to Seoul, where his grandparents and other family relatives lived. He was excited to meet his family, and also to start a new beginning. Kyumin and his brother were much happier than before, and started school and automatically began making friends. His mother began working in their family's bakery in the city, and she had met a police officer there, and the two began dating and eventually fell in love. When Kyumin was eight his mother was pregnant with a baby girl, and after the baby girl was born, kyumin's mother re-married.  

As Kyumin grew up, he matured and grew away from a few of his friends, and only kept a few close. Even though it had been many years later, Kyumin was still affected by what had happened between his father and mother. He hated him for leaving, and hurting his family but still was sad that he left without a word. Even though his father was drunk and off gambling eighty percent of the time, the two still had good times together. Kyumin promised himself that he would protect his family, and friends no matter what and never end up like his father. Kyumin became interested in music when he skated past a few street performers in the city. They were hip-hop dancers and were amazingly skilled. He was amazed at how they moved perfectly in synch to the music and beat. He soon became interested in underground rapping, and he even joined his high school's dance team. 

Kyumin's step-father knew about Kyumin's passion for music and dance, so for his fifteenth birthday, he enrolled Kyumin to Seoul Arts Performing High School. Kyumin was completely ecstatic and happy that he might have a chance to follow his dream of becoming an entertainer. Kyumin fit right into his classes and was well-known for his rapping and dancing. He even began playing guitar and piano, and started composing music. Kyumin was 16 years old when he was scouted at a talent show in his school by an SM agent, who thought his performance was splendid. He quickly offered Kyumin a card, and suggested he came by as soon as possible, because his talents was exactly what SM Entertainment had been looking for.

Training years : four years
Trainee life: Kyumin never played around when it came to training. He trained past midnight after school, and spent a majority of his time on weekends, and the rest he would spend with his family or people with special needs. Kyumin never really cared about socializing with other trainees. His main focus was to be the best he could be and not let anyone get in his way. Even though Kyumin had no interest in socializing, he still met one good friend who was also a trainee, named Jino. He was interested and singing, and the two got along well. Jino had been a trainee before Kyumin, so he would help him out. Even when Jino debuted with The SM Ballad, the two maintained a good friendship.

How they met : F(x) had just debuted when Kyumin joined SM, so he would often see Amber around along with the rest of the f(x) members. Out of all the other trainees, SM girls, and f(x) members, Amber grabbed his attention the most. Kyumin had been training one day, after everyone else had left because he felt he still had a lot more to learn. Amber was still in the building, and she passed the room he was training in, and she couldn't help but stop and stare. She was impressed, especially since he was only a trainee, and a beginner. Kyumin hadn't realise she was staring until he finished his routine and turned to play the music again to see her standing at the doorway, and clapping. 

"You're pretty good! What's your name?" She asked. Kyumin didn't respond. He stared at her for a good two minutes, because he couldn't tell what was going on and if he was day-dreaming or not. He eventually spoke up but stuttered, making his name sound like "Kyu-nim".  Ever since then, if Amber ever saw or ran into Kyumin, she would call him "Kyu-nim".

How they act around each other: Amber acts pretty normal with Kyumin, except Kyumin completely changes. He gets flustered and doesn't know what to say. He never felt that way towards anyone else besides her.
