About Kris, SM, and writing: my thoughts.
It was officially announced in the Korea Herald that Kris was seen by a doctor who believes he has myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart. It hasn't been officially declared yet, but rather than wait until he becomes symptomatic, I whole-heartedly agree with his decision to leave SM. They have controlled what he does, denying him opportunities for dramas and concerts, and now they've impacted his health.
I feel horrible for Exo, because this cannot be easy for them. One of their members vanished, and then they found out he's filing to leave (the lawsuit was for termination of the contract, full-stop.)
In my opinion, this was not idly done. He's been thinking about this for a long time, even if he kept it from the other members.
I for one would rather see him leave SM, and Exo, knowing that he'll be able to follow his dreams, do what he wants, and be healthy and happy than selfishly ask him to remain with SM and Exo and end up in the hospital or worse.
That said, despite the popular opinion and division lines, this scandal will not impact my writing. Fanfics are important because they allow us to explore possibilities beyond what we're given. My stories are not about Kris, Wu Yifan, they're about Kris, a character who happens to look long Yifan. So my writing will continue.
Finally, a petition has been made to stop SM from abusing their artists. All of their artists. SM's mistreatment of Kris has left him with a heart condition. Who needs to /die/ before they stop their bull?
I just signed the petition "SM ENTERTAINMENT: Give their artists more respect and civil rights" on Change.org.
It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:
