Respect

Hi everyone. Due to a certain topic that has come about I will discussing with you all an issue that I think needs to be addressed in kpop and fandoms in general.

R.e.s.p.e.c.t I know what it means to me.

Frankly from what I have seen the way that some fans respond to other's opinions can be a little downright impolite or rude and it isn't just to the fans but also how they talk about other's biases or favourite groups. Let me give you an example. Here's what one person said about the SM verses Kris scenario:

i don't care about Kris cause he's at the very bottom of my bias list in EXO. but well, it is still quite sad to know that EXO isn't 12 anymore. i hope that rumor isn't true...

So what is this person saying? They don't want EXO to be less than 12 but you don't really like him? Now what if Kris was my bias and I had read that?

Now here's some examples of people not being respectful when it comes to the comments on Allkpop (warning this may be considered racist to some)

utilize KPOP = disgusting chinese = kris, hankyung

Ouch first of all does that person not realise that Korea's music industry is growing in popularity a lot more than Chinese music? No wonder they have people coming from there to Korea and second of all I don't think they even realise the impact of their words.

In the past I've noticed a lot of negativity about the popular authors here on AFF. Being a person that can be easily influenced I realise that I am not one to judge for I was agreeing with what my friends would say about some authors without even knowing them.

Is that being respectful?

There's a good saying which goes 'If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all.' Why do we have to comment on a blog if we don't like what the person is saying? Why does it matter if that person writes a story about 1 girl loving 7 guys better yet do we even have to tell someone or blog about it?

Why is respect becoming so outdated? Generation Y is becoming rude in the way we're treating our elders as well as those our age you'd think we'd just come out of caves.

So there's hopefully some food for thought and maybe we can all start thinking about a way we can respect others better. Hate is easy, love is hard.

Respect...now that's something you don't see a whole lot anymore these days especially online. I'm on both sides with the Kris/Exo thing because I just simply cannot choose between them. Fans are so quick to believe every gosh darn thing they hear it's ridiculous. I don't believe the guys really meant what they said through their SNS accounts. We all say things out of anger and hurt, everyone's emotional right now...they've been friends for how many years I don't think they'd let this one thing ruin everything they worked for.

People that choose between Exo or Kris are just like the people who choose between TVXQ/JYJ or Suju/Hangeng. I can't accept those people's thoughts I'm sorry, they are just so ignorant it's not funny.

Choosing sides doesn't do any good trust me on that.

I never choose between DBSK/JYJ or Suju/Hangeng, I'm not choosing between Exo or Kris.

I get sad about my generation acting like this X___X So I try to act as nice as possible.

Even if I'm not that big a fan of EXO, these types of comments are just downright rude. It seriously pisses me off. Thank you for mentioning about this.

Amen, friend, amen. Not to mention all the pain we feel is just bouncing around. Obviously, Exo stans are hurting over this, and some are sure to hurt others in the process even without meaning to. It makes me want to cry knowing that this is the third time SM's losing an 'it-group' because they were stupid enough not to take care of their artists properly. T.T I wonder how the boys themselves are doing?

Are you hurting as much as you did when this stuff happened to TVXQ/SJ just like me, E? TmT

I know this will sound cruel, but I think you'd know I don't mean any harm to this question, but if Yifan isn't in Exo anymore, would that mean they have to subtract a member from Exo-K to even out the numbers for the groups? @.@

I get so angry at the comments referring to Kris' nationality. So what if he is Chinese born in Canada? Does that make him inferior? If you don't like him, that's fine, we can't like everybody, but that's not a valid reason for getting all racist. Quite frankly, I can't think of a single reason valid enough to start discriminating people based on where they come from, or any other reasons for that matter. Racists are ignorant and I don't like ignorant people.
