The Sewol ferry tragedy. Many precious lives have been lost, many are still missing as their family members wait for the news of their return. Many of the victims are students who were on a trip to Jeju Island, and I can this much, they are just like us. Their lives cut short so quickly and I can guess that many are fans of kpop just like us.

Let us pray for those who are missing for their safe return to their families,

mourn for those who have died,

and hope for the families that everything will be alright.

But not everything is always alright.

All we can do is pray and hope and wish.

Also, to the EXO fans who keep complaining to SM about 'Overdose', please stop. A tragedy has just happened and they are doing their best to help, so they have postponed some of EXO's activities.

Other entertainment companies are doing the same so please stop and pray for the victims and their families instead. Even EXO themselves are wearing all black, and little to no jewellery to show respect.

And for Luhan's birthday, let's silently wish him a happy birthday - don't trend his birthday on any SNS (twitter, tumblr, facebook etc). You can wish him a birthday without the hashtags :)

the reason why this is such a big problem is because the ferry's captain told the passengers to sit still and return to their rooms. they were told not to move while on a sinking boat. even as the boat was tilt completely on its side, they were told to "keep calm" and not move. the people on board didn't know how to activate the lifeboats(?) and most of the people didn't even have life jackets from the lack of them available. the captain was the first person off the sinking ship as well as the majority of the staff (given, there were a few staff who stayed behind and died trying to help escape those that were trapped). this man, apparently, dried the soaked money he had in his pocket the minute he got safely on land. he was seen getting medical treatment with the rest of the injured. the boat was also overloaded; they didn't check the weight of the items being boarded + the several people who got on without ticketing. even worse, the parents of these children were told that EVERYONE was safe. that everyone had been rescued. and then the statement is taken back and only twenty or so were found. there were parents who were told their child was safe, specifically by name, only to find out that it was an error on the government's part. parents were told their child's dead body was found, to go to see their face, only to find it's not their child. the government is hiding everything from us again. everything the news is spitting at us is bull and everything's just completely ridiculous. the news is more interested in informing us how much money is going to be distributed to the families of the deceased than giving us accurate information. it's embarrassing all the i'm seeing online and offline. there are times where i'm more than proud to say that i am korean, but this isn't one of them. i am utterly shocked at all the ridiculous the government is pulling and all they're hiding from its people and more importantly the parents of these dead children.
