Online private fundraising - Good idea or begging?

Hi guys!

I've been accepted to a university in Wisconsin for the spring semester 2015. I'm super excited to go and have most things worked out by now. There is one little detail though; To be able to pay I would have to borrow 5600 US dollars, which would gain a lot of interest and before I even have a chance to think about paying it off. I am considering making an online private fundraiser, simply explaining that I didn't get a slot on any of the exchange programs at my university, so I've had to arrange the exchange myself and thus have to pay for everything myself. I'm just a bit meh about it.

How would you see an online fundraiser like that? Would you think "BEGGING!" and just ignore or would you be more like "Well, I guess I can spare 5 dollars"? Should I do it? Should I not? .____.

It's not bad so long as you don't advertise it everywhere. That's more annoying than anything.

Go for it, I don't think that's begging, some mean people might but I think most people would be willing to help ^^ congrats on getting accepted btw! ^^

I think you should.
Its about your education after all. ^^
But some people might see it as begging because their heart is as cold as ice and they would maybe think that you're not worth their 5 dollars. >.>
But other people would try to help you out so its like 50-50 either way. ^^
