rainbow rowell's two books.

So, first of all everyone, hello! I hope you're having a great night/day. So, I've finished reading Attachments by Rainbow Rowell and as well as Eleanor & Park. And let me tell you this: I don't regret reading those two books ever.

So first of all, Eleanor Douglas (I had to search her last name because the author never mentioned her last name - it was always Eleanor) is not your typical teenage girl in a novel. Nope. Not at all. Well, she is the typical girl in real life situations - where you see them in school, outside of school, in the grocery or whatever. But book-typical? Nope. If you get what I mean. When I read her character description when Rowell described her, I cringed. I really did. I wanted to put down the book. Why? Because I couldn't relate. Eleaner was on the larger side. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just that I'm thinner than I should be, and I wish I had more meat like her (especially if a boy like Park will like me) so there's nothing wrong with her. Something's wrong with me though - Okay, back to the book. I don't want to spoil the book for you, because Rowell tells her family background bit by bit, not all at once like some characters would do. Proves that she is really a typical girl in real life, because who would like to share their painful past like that? Well of course, Eleanor gets bullied at her school, but she meets two friends who help her, but aren't her best friends. Because her friends are already best friends. Know what I'm saying? So yeah. They call her Big Red, a girl in school terrorizes her, but what's good about Eleanor is that she doesn't care. Even if it goes over-the-board bullying, she just brushes it off. Why? Because of her past - that I will not reveal because her past is a masterpiece in the story. Anyways, my summary of Eleanor is that she's a poor girl but with a big heart. At sixteen, she has gone through a lot really, and you would feel sorry for her, but you'd respect her for her courage. And, you wouldn't believe how she dresses.

Now, move on to Park. Park is Park. Park is a cute fluff ball of sunshine that you just want to pocket because he's a cute Korean who knows Taekwondo (I'm sorry, but how manly is that? Oh my). Park's family is normal, and he doesn't have a tragic background like Eleanor (woops). His mother is Korean, he has a brother who's taller than him but younger than him and he has a father who's American. Park also plays basketball. I literally want to meet him and fawn over the boy. He's just so cute and fluffy and ugh. He loves music as well. He has a stereo and lots of CDs and albums. Actually, he wore eyeliner because Eleanor said it made his eyes stand out, and his father wanted him to remove it because his son was finally turning into a girl, or is gay (because Park never had a serious relationship for 16 years until Eleanor). But then his grandmother is so good in fortelling (is that how you spell it?) because she said something along the lines of:

"You should see Korean boys your age in Korea."

And all I thought of was the young idols with eyeliner. She's totally right.

Anyways, Park loved Eleanor for who she is, and I loved it. He didn't , and he didn't pressure her to lose weight. He accepted her and loved her. I'm fangirling inside really when they're together. THEY'RE SO CUTE TOGETHER OMG. #ParkEl.

The writer has such beautiful writing skills. It's admirable. You could practically see and hear what the characters are saying and doing. Favorite YA novel as of now. It's amazing. I love it. You'll love it. Just give it a chance. It's a very nice book. And the ending is not typical. I'm going to give you guys a hint:

It's a happy ending.

But they're not a couple.

I hope you guys read it c:

For this, I won't give a lot of reviews, because I didn't love it as much as I loved Eleanor & Park. E&P made me cry in the end (out of happiness? sadness?) and I relate to Attachments in one section only, really. The setting is in modern times, and it's about a guy called Lincoln falling in love with Beth. The settings were mostly in the newspaper building where they both work, Lincoln's mom's house, places with Eve, and movie theaters. The book was half reading emails between Jennifer and Beth and half Lincoln trying out new things. You see, Lincoln is like Captain America. Old-fashioned. He doesn't smoke, drink, lives in his mother's house. Beth is with a guy for 8 years who practically just said, "I love you, but I will never marry you."

Talk about ouch.

Anyway, I liked the book. It was written in Lincoln's POV, and for a female writer, she caught guy's thoughts really well. It's a nicely written book. Would I read it over and over again? I would read it for the fluff and how many times Lincoln's thought about Beth and commented on her.

Imagine, falling and ending up with a guy who read your e-mails?

Actually, Lincoln already liked Beth without ever seeing her. Weird? Probably. Romantic? For me, yes. I liked the book. But I love Eleanor & Park more. By miles. But it's still a good read! Warning though, the characters in the book are 29. Doesn't mean you can't relate, just saying.Still a great read.

So, to everyone who has read my review, thank you! And I do hope you guys would read it. It's really worth the time. I'll be getting Fangirl next time I go to the bookstore. And probably Allegiant. Gosh, I haven't read it yet. But I think I should also look at more books. The reason why I got Eleanor and Park is because the cover was cute, it was YA and Allegiant was nowhere to be found. Serendipity? For me, yeah.

I'm hoping I don't see Allegiant next time I got to a bookstore.

I think I need to take a break from reading series. I mean, it's nice to have a super long story and plotline, but novels are really nice. I only knoticed that now, and I really wished I noticed it sooner. I made a bad decision in ignoring them. I always thought that they were always half finished. But here I am, with Rowell's two books beside me (actually they're behind me, stacked neatly on the dresser). Read them when you have a chance. It's really nice c:
