—Jaein has a bright personality. she's mostly all smiles and laughs and jokes, this makes her kinda loud too. like she laughs loudly, speaks loudly, and her actions are sometimes exaggerated. hence, she's naturally friendly and talkative. she's very good at socializing, either with friends of the same age, older or younger friends, elders, parents, workers, even friends she found on the internet forums. she might look bright and fun and smart, but she has that dumb aura around her. i swear, she's reaaaally sloppy. jaein often trips on many things, even air, she's often hurt because of her uncarefulness. for example, she's holding a sharpened pencil and when she moved her hand, she'll somehow scratch her skin with that sharp pencil.
—As dumb as she might seem, she has a high temper, especially on her periods. yeah, she's a bit sensitive, she gets annoyed easily, at the littlest things. and when she bursts out, you wont want to go near her. she'll be a new jaein you dont know, she'll be full of profanities, curses, cold stares, harsh glares, dark auras, she'll be really scary. but she calms down quickly, so just leave her alone~
—Jaein is well educated by her parents, she knew very well how important school is, so she's considered a good girl in her school. she's hardworking and diligent, she gets disappointed easily at bad results so she studies hard. even though she studies well, she tends to procrastinate a LOT on her homeworks. she's extremely lazy when it comes to doing homeworks...

 

Background: 
—Jaein was born on a harmonious, economically well, nice family consisting of a father named song minki, full korean, a mother named song sukhye, full american and was valentine mc'courtney, and an older brother named song jaejin, half korean half american and was song jovan. she grew up being loved and educated well by her family. her father who is a pattisier wants her to be a chef or some sort, but cooking aint her style. her father understands though that jaein might have another hobby or interest so he doesnt force her to learn being a chef, instead her father became strict on studies. jaein doesnt complain though, her father is working hard to pay her school fee, food, pocket money, clothes, her all needs even cameras and its expensive lenses, so as a gratitude, she studies hard.
—It will be said at the besties' section that jaein used to not share her problems and close her heart. its something cliche but she was betrayed once by her ex-bestfriend. so this evil girl befriended jaein because she wanted to flirt with her brother. jaein found out later that that evil was only pretending to be her friend. jaein even told her secrets to that evil but she secretly leaked(?) those secrets out to embarrass jaein. thank God, jaein still had and has jocelyn, that her bright personality didnt die. though she became much further. and thank God her brother knocked that evil out.
—And lastly, thank God again that soon after that incident, jaein's family decided to move to korea. her father was called by some extremely famous popular hotel to work there and its been his dream to work for that hotel, so at the age of eleven, she moved to korea. jaein and jaejin both were always talking korean with her father and mother, so they didnt forget about korea, so it wasnt that hard to move to korea and have a new life there. jaein had always wanted to try lots of korean food! she and her brother automatically transferred to SIS.

—From the first sight, howon has that cold aura that makes people want to stay away from. he's extremely mysterious, he doesnt talk much. though when you get to know him, those were just a mask used to cover his real self. still, without the cover, howon's a quiet guy. he just doesnt talk much. but he's good at listening. and offering a shoulder or broad y many chest to cry on. how y.
—Yes, he's one caring, gentle, reliable type of guy. thats why when jaein gets along with howon, she thinks of him once or twice as a big brother, though it becomes something more soon right /winks winks/. no, seriously, howon's really kind to others. He always cares for his friends. and he tries to keep his friends out of troubles. how kind.
—Howon's another real personality is that he's awkward and dense. he might be caring and reliable and all gentle but he's totally dense of a girl's complicated feelings. well he never dates anyone nor he has any sisters and his friends who are girls are limited to minimum. thats why he's a bit awkward towards girls. he does care for girls since he thinks that girls are pure and need to be protected from the beasts(?) creatures, but he cant really show his caring gentle side to girls he doesnt know. ugh, how adorable.

 

How they meet :
—One beautiful shiny day, Jaein's club, photography club, was working outdoor on the yard, backyard, garden, fields, to take photos, the theme of the week was shine. jaein thought about taking pictures of the sunflowers the gardening club grows, with the sun. well the sunflowers are always with the sun which is so shiny right? but, fortunately, when she was searching for the best angle, she caught someone dancing on the dancing room on the first floor. as far as she remembered, dongwoo her best friend who was on the dancing club said that there were no club activities at that moment, so she thought that this guys might love dancing so much.
—She was awed by the guy, that man looked so shining and passionate, it was eye-catching. So she picked up a sunflower, bravely walked closer towards the dancing room's window, held the flower as high as the window, the flower facing the guy, with her left hand, and with the right angle, she took many pictures focusing on the guy dancing. he just seemed so passionate when dancing, his expressions were comfortable, happy, content, he looked shining, it was mind-blowing. Alas, the guy noticed her taking pictures of him and opened the window, calling out to her, "You taking pics of me?" Jaein wished she could just disappear suddenly from there. she immediately blushes, laughed out loud awkwardly to cover her embarrassment but failing miserably of course, and ran away.
—The best pictures of the guy and the sunflower was (by force decided to be used by the photography counselor) used, and she titled the picture as "The Sunflower Who Always Faces the Shining", on other school's photography competition Jaein participated in. she miraculously won second place, she got the silver medal, new lenses for her camera, Nikan (yes she named her dear camera), and 5000$ cash. she was thinking not to meet, or even not pass by, the guy ever again. but then she needed to meet him, to thank him for accidentally modelling, and maybe divided the prize.

 

Plot story :
—jaein'll decide that she'll overcome her embarrassment of being caught like a stalker and search him at the school. after asking dongwoo and being teased about the pics, she'll come to the dance club activities, and eventually, it becomes a routine. though her first impression of howon was not really good, since howon's being cold, she realizes that they were only howon's masks covering his real personalities. howon was actually awkward and just scared of hurting jaein with his cold and harsh and blunt words. since then, she kinda fell in love with howon, who was actually adorable, lol, and kind.
—jaein in love is totally different with normal jaein, she becomes all shy and awkward and nervous and blushes and its totally obvious when she's in love. even though howon is dense of girls' complicated feelings, he knows that jaein's in love with him, the word CRUSH is obviously written on her forehead. feeling all unfamiliar with jaein's new adorable side, howon, who was used to think of jaein like a sister or only friend, starts to look at jaein not only as a friend of his bestfriend, but a girl who he can crush at. -dugeundugeun
