SM's Global Audition in Indonesia
I couldn’t believe that SM opened an audition in Indonesia last month. I was really like… WOW?? (0.0) Did they really do that!? Well, I subscribe SMTown’s channel in Youtube and ever spotted the video about SM’s global audition in thumbnails. I saw the flags and one of them looked like Indonesia’s flag (red and white), but I never really clicked it because I just didn’t believe that SM would try to find their trainees here in my country. Until a few days ago, my dongsaeng in my dorm told me that SM really did open an audition for future Indonesian trainees. At that time, I was literally screaming like… “ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?”
It wasn’t I regretted because I couldn’t go to the audition (I’m old already) that was held in Jakarta, but all I know is SM always look for faces and voices. Indonesians have “voices” (all countries have beautiful voices), but “faces”…? NO-NO. Don’t misunderstand me. Of course, I don’t underestimate my own race—and I won’t. What I mean is, Koreans typically will only like Koreans, while Indonesians have that type of “south-eastern-asia” faces. That’s why I was so surprised in disbelief. I just really hope SM have found the “talented seeds” from here and nurture them well in Korea, so they can finally bloom beautifully. Whoever Indonesians who had been picked up to be SM’s trainees, I just wish they never change their true identities and are always proud of the country where they initially belong to and root from. I’m so looking forward to Indonesian trainees to debut under SM in the future. HWAITING, my Indonesian fellows! ^^
I’m still wondering. Did SM get inspired by the success of the establishment of JKT48 as AKB48’s group sister in Indonesia? Korean Wave is indeed growing hugely in Indonesia, but Japan’s influence has been “living” here much earlier and don’t ever underestimate Japan lovers here (I’m one of them, hehe ^^). Seriously, JKT48 really has loooooooots of fanboys here, from “children fanboys” to “uncle fanboys”. They’re like Indonesian version of SNSD, and when JKT48 perform on the stage, it is really hard to find fangirls because the venue will only be crowded by fanboys. Then, when JKT48 sing, there are only male-voiced fanchants heard from the beginning until the end and they are really LOUD. I mean it, SO LOUD. JKT48 fanboys here are loyal supporters to their girls, and sometimes when I watch JKT48 performing on TV, I feel like I watch a noisy football match instead of singers singing. But yeah, I admit that the girls are really cutely beautiful and young. I think JKT48 is the most successful Indonesian girl group now.
{ If Indonesian fellows read this, correct me if I’m wrong. (^_^)/ }
