KDrama Review: Prime Minister and I

I just finished the drama "Prime Minister and I"

I think most drama watchers, whether they've seen it or not, know what it's about. A woman in her twenties is forced to marry a man in his forties and they end up falling in love.

If you haven't seen it and have plans to watch it please don't read this post.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!!

But for those who have watched this here's what I think of this drama: (It might be all over the place :3)

The idea is new and clever. You don't see a 10+ year difference between the two lovers in most dramas. It made a good story plot. Some didn't like it but I did. It made the show interesting. But the reason they got married was a little... extreme? Is that that word?? PM Kwon got in Nam Da Jung's face because she "kidnapped" his son Man Se. A reporter took pictures and it blew up into this big scandal. Very overexaggerated in my opinion. A marriage wasn't the only solution. He could've said there was a misunderstanding and they were both angry. But I guess if that happened and everything was solved there wouldn't be a show~

One of the reasons why they got married was because Nam Dam Jung's father was sick and didn't have much time to live. I guess it was a smart idea. But still very extreme. Not every person with sick parents conjure up fake marriages just to make them happy.

The whole drama was a little unrealistic. The children accepting her right away. Even the middle child Na Ra called her mom. Man Se who loved NDJ didn't even call her that yet. Once everything is in place and feelings are shared the "dead" mother is alive. To be honest I wasn't expecting that. It's highly unlikely that she could hide out (in Seoul!!) for all those years and not be spotted. It's highly unlikely that she'd be alive in the first place. In real life, once you are dead you are dead. Woori accepts her quickly after she was absent after all those years without asking any questions. And of course there's the conflict with Director Kang. It's unrealistic how Nam would pick an old man with 3 kids over a younger man with no kids who was nice to her from the very beginning.

But I have to admit those kids were adorable. Man Se is Too Cute xD The Na Ra and Suho (Exo) moments were cute too^^ Woori matures thoughout the drama. (And to me he kind of looks like Bang Yong Guk >.<) I wish they showed more of them with Nam and PM like a family. There were only a few moments. After the mom came back and she left there were no more moments :(

Oh and it's also unrealistic how people in high power can have so much free time. Is seems all the politians were going drinking, eating out, visting family at the hospital, going ice skating. And why did JoonKi hire Secretary Seo?? Didn't he find it was wierd that she would leave the PM and join him?? She ended up being a "spy". Shocker. Also, the chances of a mother leaving her kids behind and go overseas with man is slim.

On to the ending. Aish... That ending.

It was rushed and poorly put together. A lot happened in that last episode. It should have had more so the story can conclude naturally. Nam left the journal with all her secrets in plain site. Instead of having it under lock and key she keeps it in her purse :/ Luckily, it was her dad and no one else who found it. I had a feeling he would find out. The father's death was rushed so it wasn't as tragic as I expected. When they were outside she didn't call for help which was also unrealistic. Who just breaks down and cries when your love one is dying? You call for a doctor!! I wish they would've taken more time to honor his passing. He was vital character in the show. Nam leaves for a year to unknown places and returns as a children's book author. I was left wondering a lot of things.

How did the kids react to their mother being in their life?

What happened in that year NDJ was gone?? What did he tell the press? Your wife leaving for a year doesn't really look good to the media.

Did they get married for real?

There are a lot of unanswered questions. I wish there was a short scene about the future or something.

I give this drama a 3 and a half out of 5. It was an ok drama but the ending was a turn off. On the bright side, Yoona's acting was good.
