Another Rant About the

*Rant Ahead! You've Been Warned!*

So regarding a blog I once made about the horde of girl groups coming back with the now unnoriginal and overdone "y" concept after seeing how well it went for Girls Day, recent interviews with some of those said groups have confirmed my thoughts about them not knowing what the term "y" really is.

So apart from the fact that none of them should speak during interviews anymore, because apparantly none of them know the meaning of tact, being humble or respect, they basically continue to further prove my point on how they think the term is something it's not.

Before I go on, I'm going to give examples of people who naturally y without even trying. Hyori being the first, the woman just stands there and she's y, BoA, SNSD Yuri, 2NE1's CL and Minzy, Miss A, Sistar's Hyorin, Sunmi, BEG, WG's Yenny and Yubin. These are women who exude natural appeal and charisma. Their confidence and their natural personalities make them y. The way they carry themselves, makes them y. It's their confidence when they're just being themselves that makes them y. It isn't just an act and noris it a concept. They just are.

Again, y doesn't necessarily refer to the word , nor do they always correlate. For a woman being y is a state of mine, and y doesn't equate lack of clothing or ual innuendo's.

The men in charge of these girl groups need to ing learn some and apparantly so do some of the actual girls in the groups.

Take Rainbow Blaxxx, for example, who recently pissed me off during an interview they had. So i'm not a Girl's Day fan, in fact, they just recently did an interview as well that pissed me off, but whatever. I digress. So anyways, They girls of the Rainbow unit were asked something along the lines of how do they fare or stand out among the wave of girl groups (Girls Day, AoA, Dal Shabet) that came back with a y comeback to which they responded, pretty unprofessionally, I might add, that they were better in that department, even going as far as calling out Girl's Day. When they were asked why, Leader Jaekyung said that it was because one of the members watches movies, plus they're older and more mature and that's what makes them y.

So, do we all see the problem here? If not, let me explain.

First off, whether I like a group or not, really has nothing to do with the fact that I'll always respect every single one of them and even defend them if I feel like they need defending. All groups, whether you like them or not, should be respected, because all of these idols work extremely hard to get where they are, and some aren't even acknowledge or recognized for it. Instead they just kind of go under the radar, without so much as a pat on the back and a "good job". I can understand that some of them get frustrated because they feel they do well yet go underappreciated, hell I can understand that, but that doesn't excuse when they say something against another group who does well. (That was my problem with the recent Girls Day interview). Nor does that justify the fans to go on a rampage on saying this person works harder than the other so they deserve it more. (Which is why I can't stand some fan wars, some are justified - for othes reasons- but most of the time it's just nonsense).

In the end it's not about how well you THINK you did or do, but the about appeal to the general audience. And you can't blame another artist for them not being recognized.

With that said, what in the world does watching movies or being older and mature have to do with being y?

I know people who watch and trust me, none of them are the definition of y.

I agree, Woori is y and Jaekyung, when she's not being an arrogant brat, can be y, but they aren't even aware of it and think that it has something to do with watching movies, wearing provocative clothing, making faces at the camera, touching yourself lewdly in the middle of choreography, or having to have a rated video.

I hate comparing, but when SNSD did RDR, they were y. Was it a rated video? No. Did they do anything else that I mentioned? No. They just were. The same with 2NE1 when they did I Love You and Missing You. And when MissA does any of their songs, or when Sistar did Alone or Secret did Love is Move or Sunmi 24 Hours or even BEG when they did Sixth Sense. All of these women I mentioned share something in common, they all have class and elegance, which is the least that I can say for some of these other groups.

As a woman, myself, I find that what these girl groups are doing now is downright degrading, (not ty, because that is something else altogether, but degrading.) and they're all totally buying into it.

It just freaking baffles my mind, and now I cringe when people talk about the "y" concept, because they just throw that word around to the point where it has absolutely no meaning. And everything is so redundant now. The dancing, the clothing, the concept teasers or music videos. They all look and even sound the same at points. It's so ridiculous. Now I'm just bored and am waiting for something new and fresh. -I gotta say, I'm enjoying Spica's comeback and I hope they get an award soon.

I guess I'll just have to wait for the Kpop female titans (SNSD, 2NE1, MissA, Sunmi, etc.)  to make their return and hope it's something different, because unlike these girl groups now, they have nothing to prove because they have already solidified themselves as amazing female girl groups that should be admired and respected.

THIS.
No truer words have been written on this site. People just don't seem to understand 'y', or hell, even 'cute' (but that's another rant altogether). When I see videos like Hyuna's 'Ice Cream' and even After School's 'Dr Feel Good' it just seems really uncomfortable. Meanwhile my jaws just drop whenever I watch SNSD, Miss A etc, and they're not stripping down or gyrating in front of the camera.

preach sister :3 The reason why I stan the older girl groups (in terms of debut date) is that they don't strip their clothes just to be "y".

Took the words right out of my mouth. These girls groups now a days think that touching themselves on stage is considered "y" infact it just make me uncomforable to watch and i feels sorry for those girls who think that to be recongize you have to be y.
But thank you for these words i agree with everything you just said
