Advertising On People's Walls

Okay, hi guys.

So lately I've been getting quite a bit of advertisement on my wall, and honestly, it's starting to bug me.

All these AFF users that are desperate for subscribers, comments and upvotes post on many other users' walls, and not just mine (I have done some stalking) and they're always telling us to check out their story, and giving us a link, going all: "Oh, I just finished my story and I was hoping you could check it out, subscribe and comment? I'm sorry for taking up your wall space, feel free to delete this."  Honestly guys? If you're so sorry for taking up my wall space, don't post any advertisement in the first place.

If you put actual time and effort into your story, comments, subcribers and upvotes will naturally come. There's no need to advertise on everyone's walls just so you can get comments and become 'popular' like all the other AFF users that are well-known.For example, if you look at primrosing / Mina, she doesn't beg for comments and subscribers, and neither does she advertise on other people's walls. She's popular because she's a good writer and has interesting storylines, not because she goes around posting on other people's walls: "Please check out my story BLAH BLAH BLAH"

If your stories are good then there will be people that subscribe and stick by, and if they really enjoyed it, then they'd comment and upvote. Honestly, I'd be happier if people naturally came instead of coming because I asked them to. What's so satisfying about earning subscribers and comments if they didn't come willingly and by themselves? If they came just because you told them to, and they did what you wanted, if you were happy just because of that, then... well... you're weird.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here, I'm simply stating my opinion. There are many under-rated authors out there that write for plain entertainment and for fun, not for popularity and compliments. If you're on AFF and posting stories just for subscribers and popularity, well, I don't know, that's just seriously screwed up.

Think about it, what's so successful about being popular if you didn't earn it yourself? I'm not saying you can't advertise properly by actually paying karma points, feel free to do that actually. But constantly advertising on people's walls and practically begging for upvotes and comments really sends me over the edge of anger. (I'm on the edge, of glory~)

And if you guys think the only way to get subscribers is by advertising like that, then you're wrong. Sure, you have really less karma points at first, but the better your story is, the more karma points you will get because of subscribers. Don't beg, because they will naturally come. And if you're scared no one will like your story because your grammar is 'terrible' or something, you can kindly ask for a beta-reader, or simply just start reading more books. Trust me, it really works.

So the point of the blogpost is that you shouldn't advertise on other people's walls just for the sake of popularity and subscribers, because they will naturally come. OKAY?!?!

K.

I'm out, bye guys, thanks for reading this (if you actually did)!
