I Will Protect You

Eli reached for Kevin’s hand. He frowned when he noticed how slight it was. Kevin needed to be fattened up. He was all skin and bone, practically malnourished.

“I’m Eli, you’re new nurse.”

Kevin just stared at him. It was actually a little unnerving the way Kevin watched him so intently. It was like no one else existed in the room except the two of them. Kevin never looked away from his face, even when his father started speaking to the nurse. “Kevin is very stubborn, Eli-ssi. Please make sure he eats at least one meal a day if you can’t make him eat all three. The boy is an athlete and we can’t risk his health to get worsened more than it already is. So please take care of Kevin while we’re away. The maids have prepared the guest room for you, it’s the one right next to Kevin’s, so don’t sleep in with him.” Mr. Woo said with a caution in his tone.

Eli stood up and bowed to Kevin’s parents. After giving him one final, critical look, the parents decided that Eli was a good person and was going to take good care of their ill son, so they bid their farewells and left for their trip. Eli turned around and looked at Kevin. “Well… looks like it’s you and me now, Kevin,” he smiled. “Kevin is a pretty big name for such a small guy,” he said, trying to make a conversation. It was hard for him as well, because Eli wasn’t much of a conversationalist. “I think I’ll call you Kev, so that we’re both even—three letters, three letters.”

Kevin just stared up at him. Eli sighed; this is not how he expected their first meeting to be. He didn’t like to be the one doing all the talking. “You know why I’m really here, don’t you?” Eli thought he’d cut to the chase, since this was getting boring. He rolled up his sleeve and showed Kevin a mark that was recently burned right into his skin. Kevin sat up as Eli finally caught his attention. “These are our initials. You have the same mark somewhere on your body as well.”

Kevin pressed his hand to his chest, and slowly started to push the edge of his T-shirt aside, showing Eli the seal. Eli’s breath hitched because everything was true. He looked at Kevin with a smile, “Do you know what that means, Kev?” The other shook his head. “I’m your mate. I know what you are, and I am going to protect you from them.”

“You know?” Kevin whispered.

Eli nodded, “You’re a wizard, mated to a tiger-shifter. No one could harm any of us now, so rest well.”

Sooo, it’s a supernatural-shifter drabble. Let’s see how much votes it will get in the poll in chapter 11, later on.
