Viet Nam, here I come!

I'll be in Vietnam (or Viet Nam. This is the regular way to spell it if you are a true Vietnamese person) until I think Febuary. I'm coming here for tết, or New Year. You might wonder why we Vietnamese people are celebrating New Year on January 31st instead of the first of January? Well, the Vietnamese kind of "inherit" the celebration from Chinese New Year, but not really. We don't do all the stuff Chinese do, but sometimes we do since the Vietnam country is close to China. Our new year lasts for a week instead of just a day. During that week, some of the more grown up people will give you red envelopes. In the red envelope is money, because the red simbolizes "good luck". Well, everyone probaby wants money, so red + money = happiness, and you should be happy on tết. Gold also simbolizes happiness, so red and gold are the main colors of New Year. In China, I think the red can scare the sprits and monsters away on the wonderful week, so yeah. But I don't think Vietnamese inherit that, but who knows? I am a "third generation", so I may or may not know all this New Year stuff. I can't guarantee you that everything is right, but some of them are! Also, you're not supposed to cry during that week or it might give you bad luck. 2014 is the year of the horse. Like the Chinese do, we have these different animals if you're born in this specific year. Like for example, if you're born in 2004 you would be in the year of the monkey, 2003 is the year of the goat/ram, and 2012 is the year of the dragon. Elders (like first/second generations) believe that the dragon is the most precious animal of them all, but most of us don't really believe that anymore. Some of the first/second also believe that you will have some traits that relate to your personality. You won't be like the animal, of course, but some of the traits you'll have may relate to that person that is also born in the same year. They also believe that if a daughter has the same animal as her father, it brings good luck, and if a son has the same animal as his mother, it will bring bad luck, and all the others that don't have the same animals are just normal, but don't get soooo scared, I don't even think it's true. (It could be, I don't know...) Viet Nam has this special celebration for the New Year, and it's beautiful! I'll also be visiting you know the usual, the relatives and stuff. But you know, the greedy people want money. The bad thing is when you like graduate college, you won't get money, you'll have to give the money to people. Regular adult stuff, it hurts. At least I'm not in college yet! The time zones between Vietnam and America is different. Depending on where you are, for example: If you live in the Midwest and pretend it's 1:00 in the morning (AM), it will be 2:00 in the afternoon (PM). So, that's what I wanted to tell you fanfictors, just a little history and a heads-up. I'll be arriving at Icheon (don't know if I spelled that right) Airport in Korea (yay!) but I actually won't be going out of the airport so (wahhhhhhhhhh!)...yeah, I won't be actually seeing my biases. I'll be at Icheon (airport) because I'll need to rest and stuff, so yeah. I think it's fourteen hours to get to Vietnam and back (EXHAUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) so yeah. Thanks for reading, fanfictors! See ya at Vietnam!

I hope they have free WiFi on the airplane....

I'll be leaving tonight, I think.

Vietnam has some major slow Internet connection, so sorry! South Korea has the fastest connection, so YEAH!
