personality: 

(love me, hate me, say what you want about me) Hyangsuk is very nonchalant and acts however she wants to. She says whatever she wants and does whatever she wants. People tend to dislike how she acts because she comes off as rude but she is actually just blunt and spontaneous. Because of people’s opinions of her, she rarely fully trusts anyone and does not have many friends.

(so bad girl, so good girl) She has a wild side of her that comes out around people she is comfortable with. She is also known to be fearless and daring, always wanting to try out something new and never afraid of taking challenges.

(why am I like this?) When it comes to love, she is totally uncoordinated. She would be very out of character. Thus, she has never been in love before and does not plan to be.

(even the brightest stars burn out) No matter how much of a strong front she puts up, she is actually fragile and vulnerable on the inside. When she starts thinking about her mother, she gets very angry and frustrated. She can take only too many mean comments before she breaks. background: 

Hyangsuk came from a rich family. Her father was the director of a very popular summer camp at that time and her mother was a journalist. She was born in Jeju Island and lived there until she was 11, when her mother abandoned her father, her and her brother without any reason. The night she left, Hyangsuk had troubles sleeping. Her mother always told her that she could go to her if she was afraid of the dark so that was what Hyangsuk did. However when she reached her parent’s room that night, she was only met with her crying father. Hyangsuk was shocked when she saw him holding a letter from her mother, saying that she would leave and they were to not look for her.

Her father slipped into depression and Hyangsuk started looking after herself and her little brother by her own at a tender age. She hated seeing her father so miserable that she suggested they move out of Jeju to somewhere else in Korea. The family agreed to a fresh start and moved to Changwon. There, her father set up another summer camp for youth called Camp Solar and it quickly became popular among youths.

Hyangsuk then went to California to study. She only came back during her break but then she never really interacted with the people in the neighbourhood so not many people know that Kim Taeyang has a daughter. She finished 3 years of university and returned to Korea with a degree in Business Marketing.

personality: The enthusiastic camp director is very warm towards youths and is well liked by all the campers and volunteers. Though he has a sharp tongue and says whatever he wants, he is also sensible and takes care of his staff members, volunteers and campers well. The staff members however are quite protective of him as he is quite vulnerable and easily over thinks. He is quick to open up to people but when he really trusts someone, he will let that person into his mind.  

how you met: 

(during camp) Hyangsuk has studied about Hakyeon weeks before the opening of the camp. During the day itself, Hyangsuk caught Hakyeon’s eye as she was the only volunteer with a different clothing style. Hakyeon thought that she was pretty and wanted to get to know her more. However, Taekwoon stopped him saying that it was risky.

how you interact: 

Hyangsuk is always trying to get closer to Hakyeon to get more information about him and the Camp Director is very friendly towards the volunteers. However she tries not to get too involved with him as she does not want to fall in love and ruin everything she has carefully planned.

why did you choose camp starlight?: 

Business started to drop when another summer camp opened up nearby. Camp Starlight was taking Camp Solar’s business and Hyangsuk’s father started to get annoyed at how Cha Hakyeon, a nobody with no prior business experience however managed to make his summer camp so successful. So he sent Hyangsuk to go find out. Being the loyal daughter she is, Hyangsuk obeyed to her father’s request.
