a few days late, but seeing all these vids and posts about the "best of 2013" i decided to give some thought to my own favorites of last year. plus i rarely make blog posts so i mean, why not? so i made my own top 10 list lol. also i have a research paper due tmrw so this is my late-night playlist XP

i tried sticking to one song per artist, korean releases only. i didn't pick only title tracks, but a lot of times the music videos/dances/concepts really played a part in how much i liked a song, so there are a lot of them here. also i don't listen to all songs of all artists' albums so there are bound to be issues of bias  >3<

so onward, here are my top kpop songs of 2013!

10: DESTINY - INFINITE

i love the concept and the song gives me a cool "we have to do this now before it all ends" desparate kind of feel. the dance isn't as visually stunning as the chaser had been, but the mv is still very good and i feel like as a song destiny is a lot more accessible/easier to like. 

09: DEPRESSION CLOCK - IU FT. JONGHYUN

i love the downplayed sort of depressing feel it gives off. the lyrics have a calculated sort of simplicity to them. props to jonghyun for composing/writing it, and yay for iu being such a wonderful friend <3

08: IS IT POPPIN? - 4MINUTE

i always laugh at how happy the song is compared to its actual lyrics. also i laugh at "get yo' big a** home right now." all in all, it makes me laugh and it's a good summer bop, and thus has snatched the number 8 place in my heart. 

07: EXPECTATION - GIRL'S DAY

aka the era where sojin became recognized as the true queen of everything lol. the song was catchy, it is fun to watch live and i loved the styling too. 

06: SE SE SE - 2YOON

i was so mad that the title track for their subunit debut didn't show off their full potential but whatever because the rest of the harvest moon album is solid. se se se is really a simple song but i just adore the girls' voices and the crooning they do. 

05: CHAOS - VIXX

vixx had so many good songs this year it was so hard to pick but this gem sealed the deal. also i love department store-type songs. seriously, can't you see this playing in some forever21/h&m or wherever leo gets his avant garde clothes??

04: ONE MINUTE BACK - SHINEE

this song just barely beat out selene 6.23 for my fave shinee song of the year - i can't put my finger on why i like it so much. the strange instrumental? minho's rap that i finally don't ironically pretend to like? idk it has a cool sort of feel to it. also i think this song has that "contemporary" sort of musical style that shinee claims to be. 

03: NUMBER 9 - T-ARA

if you don't think this song is catchy you're a liar. i wish t-ara had won something for this; it's basically everything i like about t-ara in one song: retro beats + chilling vocals! :p

02: ONE SHOT - B.A.P.

i was completely blown away by this song and mv; it changed my whole view on rap/hiphop. also daehyun's power vocals are A+. one shot was entirely epic.

01: WILD - NINE MUSES

everything about this song is hot - from the mv to the dance to the girls to the "oh oh oh's" to the rap to the vocals to the piano to the instrumental OMG I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH. wild was the one song this year that i heard and could never get tired of; it's constantly my jam. it was the first 9muses song i've listened to and i'm so glad i did; i love the group now and hope they continue to rise in 2014 with consistently good releases (gun was not to my liking but glue was).
