Background: Kwon Jinki, HyunRi's father is a cheerful and friendly man. He became very close with the king. Thus, earning jealousy everywhere. The Minister of Defense, especially, has a deep hatred for HyunRi's father because he felt like the King trusted Jinki much more then him. His hatred for him increased over the past year when Hyeri married Jinki because the Minister of Defense used to harbour a lot of feelings for her. So, one day, he hired an assasin to go and killed their whole family. It was supposed to be a happy night for HyunRi as it was her father's birthday. But everything changed when the assasin came and murder her father. HyunRi's mother, before she died instructed HyunRi not to take revenge for the family if by any chance she survived. When the assasin killed both her parents, he saw HyunRi hiding under the table. He felt bad when he saw how scared she was and how she resembled his dead daughter. He made a decision. He decided to keep her alive and take her along with him. At first, HyunRi hated him for killing her parents but her heart softened ater a few years. She saw how much he cared for her and she found out from him that it was the Minister of Defense who caused the death of her parents.
Being a top assasin, he taught HyunRi how to protect herself alongside with other orphans that he found on the streets. He taught them how to kill others without being noticed as well. Thanks to all his teaching, HyunRi became really skilled in daggers and throwing knifes. When she is 10, she told the man whom she called uncle now that she wanted revenge. She doesn't want the man who caused her family to split into different realms to go free like that. She wanted him to feel how she felt when she was 5. Uncle told her that it is basically impossible for her to kill him now that he has so much power. He told her to gather more information about him first before planning her revenge. He told her that the easiest way to gather information is to be a gisaeng. A top and famous gisaeng where men come voluntarily to her. And from there she can get all the informations she need. HyunRi knew that that is a good plan but she still feel worried and anxious about being a gisaeng. But after the persuasion from her friend, she agrees to it and told her "uncle" to sell her to a gisaeng house. That way, she can enter the house without much suspicion and her uncle can get some extra money for living and taking care of the orphans as well.
In the gisaeng house, HyunRi is being trained everyday, day and night to be the top gisaeng in the future. The people there cherished her because of her personality and take good care of her. But not everyone liked her. There are still some people that dislike her and find her annoying as another gisaeng means another competition. And at the age of 16, another outstanding gisaeng has been introduced.
Personality:
Optimistic - HyunRi is borned optimistic. Maybe it is a trait passed down from her mother. Even when the situation is not in her favour, she will still be happy and cheerful and positive. When her parents passed away, she was indeed upset for a really long time when as time passed, she became her old self again. She told herself that everyone has to go to the other world one day and her parents just went earlier compared to some other people. She also learned to trust the man who killed her parents because he doesn't have a choice. That is what he do for living and he cares a lot for her even if it might be because of guilt. But she begin to open up to him and cares for him even if it is just a bit and even until now, she doesn't regret it.
Smart , Bright - HyunRi can be considered a wonder. She is very smart. By just reading a book twice she can remembered the whole content of the book. She can remember anything by just looking or reading it twice. Thus, this makes her very knowledgeable and she is easily the smartest girl in the gisaeng house. But she didn't make her talent known to many people because she is scared that trouble might follow the talent that she has. Only her uncle and her childhood friend knew about it.
Clumsy - Although she is very smart, HyunRi is really clumsy and messy. She can tripped even when there is nothing there. And if something is there then the chances of her falling down could be 90%. Because of her clumsiness, she fell a lot and there is some scars on her knees and thighs. Usually when she get a scolding, it is not because she did something awfully wrong but because of her clumsiness. Sometimes, she would break a plate, have a lot of ink stain on the papers, almost hurt someone when she is praticing her sword dance and so on. Once when she was still training with her uncle, she accidentally threw her throwing knife at her childhood friend and left a scar on his shoulder.
Strong - HyunRi is a strong girl. She is both physically and emotionally strong. She is physically strong from all her assasination trainings and is emotionally strong because she encountered her parents death at such young age. Due to her optimistic behaviour, she is hardly upset. And even if she is, she doesn't show her emotions to many people. The two people that have seen her cry is her childhood friend and her best friend in the gisaeng house. Everyone has their own weaknesses and so does HyunRi. Her weakness is her defence system. She gets sick really easily especially during winter. When she is sick, she doesn't get well that fast either. Everytime she is sick, she will miss her family a lot because she doesn't like to be alone and when she is in the gisaeng house, almost everyone distant themselves from each other making her lonely as well. That is also the time where she misses her panda the most and hoped that he would be with her and takes care of her.
Caring - She cares for almost everyone. Maybe because she grew up in a loving family, before and after the death of her parents, she learned how to care for people. She takes care of the newbies in the gisaeng house a lot and she always tries to make them feel at home. She is often being laughed at for caring so much for other gisaengs because of the competitiveness. But because of her caring behaviour, she found herself a best friend who she can trust and talk to unlike many other gisaengs.
Lack of Confidence - HyunRi doesn't feel confident about herself. She feels insecure. When she was livng with the other orphans, she always feels like they are all better than her. She feels like everyone does a better job compare to her and because of her clumsiness, she feels even more miserable sometimes. In the gisaeng house, almost everyone is so gorgeous and glamourous. Even though she is the epitome of cuteness, she feels intimidated by a lot of them as most of them have a perfect body shape with big front and back unlike her. Often when other people accuse her or anything, she would feel scared to stand up for herself too.
Trivia: Her love for animals can sometimes go overboard. Once, she took home a litter of stray puppies and begged her uncle to keep them. Her uncle agreed and thus, she started living with 8 puppies until she was "sold" to the gisaeng house. But she still love puppies and would sometimes try to take some in.
Hobbies: Reading as she can remember everything after reading it twice and throwing knifes and daggers.

Personality:
Tao is a very quiet person. He doesn't talk much but he cares a lot for HyunRi. He may looks cold with his sharp glare but is actually a cute person with aegyo like HyunRi but HyunRi is the only one who has seen his aegyo. He first showed her his aegyo when she cried in front of him in attempt to stop her crying but she laughed so hard that she cried again.
Tao is also a very skilled assasin. Like HyunRi, he began his training since he was 5 but unlike HyunRi who stopped when she left for the gisaeng house, Tao continued his training. He is very skilled in using his sword or anything long such as a stick.
Tao doesn't act his age at times when he feels bored and sad. He will always throw a tantrum with the uncle asking him to buy food for him. But when he needs to and during his training, Tao is a very serious man and does everything perfectly.
Unlike HyunRi, Tao is quite an emotional person. He is not afraid to show his emotions. When he is sad, he will cry to her and when he is mad, he will take out his anger on the dummy used for training. Everyone think that Tao is weird because of his emotional outbursts but that is what makes him special as well because hardly there's anybody that would show their feelings as easily as Tao. Of all the feelings that he had shown, there is only one feelings that he never show before, which is love. Maybe to other people it is obvious that he liked her with the way he look at her but he never show how he feels about her openly to anyone before.
Relationship: As time grows longer, Tao and HyunRi grows closer. At some point, they are almost inseparable. When they are training together, he will always take cares of her like a little baby as she gets injured very easily due to her clumsiness. One time when they are training to throw knifes and daggers, HyunRi aimed wrongly and her throwing knife ended up on Tao's shoulder instead. But even so, he is not mad at her but finds her really cute when she is panicking about his bleeding shoulder.
When he knew that HyunRi is going to the gisaeng house, he feels really sad that she is going to leave him. But when she confronts him asking whether she should take the chance and risk to being a gisaeng and how she feels like she might feel dirty all over when she becomes a gisaeng, Tao comfort and console her saying that no matter what she do or who she become, he will always be with her and support her and help her even though he is reluctant to leave her. He also says that whoever dares call her dirty will face his sword and -kicking skills. Hearing that she smiled and agrees to what her uncle say about going to the gisaeng house. But before she left, Tao gives her a hourglass pendant as a good luck charm and to constantly reminds her of him.
Even when HyunRi starts her gisaeng training, she would sneakily sneaks out to meet up with Tao and talk to him about how her life is when she is training. She even told him about Fei so much that he felt jealous of her. At times, Tao would train with her, their throwing knives skills and to remind her how to use a dagger without being caught by anyone. Tao knew about her wanting revenge on the Minister of Defense. Even though he doesn't encourage it, he promised her that he will help her no matter what even if it costs his life knowing that murdering de Minister can be a one way trip to heaven or hell. Because of that, HyunRi will consistently meet up with Tao and ask him to teach her more skills but that is just an excuse to let her uncle agrees to let them meet. Knowing that Tao and HyunRi is very much in love with each other, he let them meet very often because he know how dense they could be when it comes to love. Even though Tao did so many things for her, HyunRi still feel like she is having a one sided love for Tao as she would often think to herself why would someone as perfect as Tao will like someone as clumsy and stupid like her. As for Tao, he is just shy. He doesn't want to admit his feelings because he figures that HyunRi will never like him with all the rich, smart good family background men that she could meet in the future at the gisaeng house. Both of them are very shy and feels insecure to admit their feelings and until now their feelings for each other is still unknown to each other.
How they met:
Tao first met HyunRi when she came to the mountain house with uncle. When she first met him, he was intimidated by how he look. With sharp glares, almost everyone is afraid of Tao. When they started training, HyunRi will always injures herself with her clumsiness and uncle will always ask Tao to go and treat her wounds. And everytime he came closer to her, he feels as if he is being pulled by a magnet. Like a force pushing him to her. Although HyunRi was scared of him before, she believed that he is a kind person as he always treat her wounds even if he is not asked by uncle. And like that, she begins to open up to him as well because he would always help her. Once, she fell really badly and cried for almost an hour, Tao was bewildered. He doesn't know how to stop her from crying so he tried to do aegyo like what he saw her do before. He did a "buing buing" and instead of stop crying, she laughed so hard that she started rolling around and cried again as she accidentally brush through her wound.
And ever since that time, HyunRi and Tao will always do buing buing whenever each other are feeling upset to bring back that memory of how she cried then laugh then cried again. To HyunRi, Tao's aegyo are irresistible and anyone would do anything for him if he does his aegyo. From then on, HyunRi will always go talk to Tao when she feels upset or the other way around because they both felt that they can trust each other in everything that they do. HyunRi then also told Tao how she came here and how her parents were victims of jealously beacause of the evil Minister of Defense. She told him she wanted revenge on him and on those people who are part of the plan that wanted to kill her parents and her. She wanted them to feel the pain and sadness she felt as well. That was the first time Tao feels scared of her. Scared not because of how she wanted revenge but scared because he was afraid that one day she might sacrificed herself in her revenge plan and that he might lose her because of that. So, Tao begin to train even harder, double or triple the amount of how the others usually train because he want to protect her from harm. And when he knew about how she wanted revenge, he began to cherish the time he had with her because he knew that his job as an assasin could end his life when he is on a dangerous mission and her who wanted revenge on the Minister could end her life quicker then he expected as well and also, if the Minister knew that the daughter of the man that he hated so much is still alive, he would hunt her down even until the end of the world. So, he made her an hourglass pendant as a good luck charm for her and also to remind Tao of the limited amount of time they had with each other because they will never know about their future.
