background: Areum was born in and raised in Seoul and is the oldest of four children. Her mother and father own a BBQ restaurant in Hongdae, and she used to occasionally help out during her free time. She's always loved music, and she secretly went to audition for SM and was accepted, though not as a trainee but as a model. Her impressive height of 175cm and lean, curvy body had convinced SM that she would be better as a model. Areum learned to love her body and height, but she had wanted to become a trainee, and that was never out of her mind. She had secretly watched the idol groups practice, and had once snuck into one of the practice rooms when it was empty to rap. She had finished rapping and dancing, feeling good when she noticed one of the managers was in the room that whole time. Thinking she would get into trouble, she bowed and apologized only to get asked if she ever considered debuting as a singer/rapper. She was ecstatic as she explained her position, and that's how she came to be part of the group.
 

specialties: She was a runway model before officially switching to being a trainee. People are fooled by her gentle, reserved image, so they are always surprised to find that she can "rap up a storm." When she's rapping, her whole demeanor changes, and it's as if she's possessed. She becomes bolder and more fiery when she raps. Areum is also talented with writing raps, but she's never shown them to anyone, not confident enough in her ability.

personality: She may look like a quiet, gentle girl, but Areum is a fun-loving, outspoken person, who's very friendly with everyone. She's sociable by nature and loves making new friends and meeting new people. She's a bright person but isn't plucky. Areum's a very loving and empathetic person, always taking care of other people and attending to their needs before herself. Because of her hopeful, optimistic attidtude, she really seems innocent, despite being over 20 years old. Areum is very self-consious because of her height, always standing out. She doesn't like that people always looked at her because of it. She's probably the biggest klutz you'd ever know because she can trip on her own two feet. She would always just laugh it of though, and she takes it all in stride. Areum is very carefree and youthful, always smiling even when she has hard times. She believes that if you keep smiling, all the bad things will eventually go away, and the sun will shine again.
