PLEASE HELP!

Annyeong everyone, mianhae, this is not a kpop-related. This is me asking for your help. Jebal. From one human being to another.

You may have heard that the supertyphoon Haiyan, locally known as Yolanda, has hit the Philippines very badly. It's one of the worst storms in history. One of the worst-hit parts of the country was my hometown, Tacloban City. Everything's chaotic down there. I am writing this from Manila, from a different province. All cellular networks have been down and are in the process of being repaired. Most of what we know we get from the news, and every day is worse than the next. So many have died. Right now the city's roads have fallen trees and posts blocking the roads, making them inaccessible, but they're working on it. Food and water are on low supply, making people desperate. They have been breaking in to malls and groceries, and my own family's store was not spared this fate. There are people walking the streets with guns, who will attack anyone they see carrying food, water, medical supplies. The hospitals are down. Everyone who can escape is fleeing to nearby Cebu by any means possible. No planes. The airport was practically ripped apart and washed away by the storm surge from the sea. Everything's damaged badly, the storm surge went inland and caused floods up to 15ft. Only military planes carrying relief goods can fly back and forth, and it isn't enough. Prison riots and attempted escapes have broken out, as the prison itself lost its rooftop.

The worst part is I am miles away, helpless. My family is struggling, while my little brother and elderly grandmother are somewhere on their way to Cebu, my parents chose to stay home. It's a horrible feeling, watching your home completely devastated, rendered unrecognsable, while you sit there, watching, unable to do anything. I was looking forward to going home this Christmas break; now I'm not sure there is a home to go back to. In the last 72 hours, I've probably slept for a total of 5. But who can sleep when all you have to wake up to is more uncertainty, more destruction? All I can do is watch more footage of familiar places I grew up in being destroyed, covered in debris, flying away.

And Tacloban is only one city. The roads to the other municipalities are still blocked, and we don't know for sure the state of these small towns around the province. The death toll could possibly reach 10,000, and the number could rise rapidly within the next few days because of the lack of food, water, medical supplies.

What I'm asking you, my readers, to do, is to donate anywhere you can, as much as possible, to this cause. I don't even know where, but there must be one somewhere. Please, please, help. Right now my country needs you. I need you.
