Hai nice to meet you  Nothing much to say?  That's okay too. :3
  • I got one. Are you okay with modifications or edits I may ask you to do or might fix myself?

Of course. It's your story, feel free ^^
I hope my application is okay! I've never really written so much before and I'm afraid everything's nonsensical, haha. Okay, so everything is actually very nonsense, haha. Sorry for the cliche, I'll try to write a better one. I actually have a storyline, but I think it's just as cliche, lol. Why can I be creative. orz. I just realized that in history, there was really a huge rebellion, but it was in the 19th century, haha. Oh, and I'm not going for any personas this time, is it okay? I've always love historical fanfics. Good luck!

Nice to meet you. Yes, really.
Family:

Kwon Ahn-Jin / 47 / adoptive father / resillent, stubborn, trustworthy, appreciative / ex-Paanyoon of Capital Bureau

Choi Moon-ok / 43 / adoptive mother / quiet, gentle, modest, gracious/ Wife of Kwon Ahn-Jin and mother of Kwon Dong Jun. Exiled.

Kwon Dong Jun / 21 / adoptive-brother / compassionate, modest, conceited, competent / exiled

Kwon Yun-Ji / 8 / deceased elder sister / obstinate, boisterious, playful, prideful / deceased

Background: Kwon Hyeyong was born into an upper-class of Kwon Ahn-Jin and Choi Moon-ok. She was the third and youngest child with an older brother and an older sister. The family was a well-respected household with good parenting that teaches the siblings to be respectful even to the lower class, as every human deserves the respect. Dong Jun was an extremely doting and over-protective elder brother to Yun-Ji and Hyeyong, often spoiling them. Their father, the Paanyoon of the Capital Bureau, led things with justice. He's a strong man that doesn't allow corruption to happen. It was also due to his sense of righteous and justice that brought the family to their tragic downfall.

She was only 6 then; a sweet naive age that shouldn't have to witness her family in ruins. The protective walls crumbling and flames dancing around her, eating into everything that she treasured. She cried, screamed and prayed. Nothing worked. She did not understand at that time. What had she done wrong? Guards and Ministers smuggly walked into her house and took away everything she owned--even her family. She would never forget the face of Kyo Shin Ryu, the man that destroyed her.

Her father refused corruption. And when her father refused bribary from Kyo Shin Ryu to cover up his son's mistake, he angered and offended the man that destroyed everything he had. Shin Ryu's son had to die for his crime, and Shin Ryu couldn't accept it. He wanted to revenge, and so he framed  Ahn-Jin. He had given Ahn-Jin chances, but Ahn-Jin had been too stubborn to listen. Thus, he had to pay the price. Ahn-Jin was framed of multiple corruptions and dragged the entire Kwon family into exile. As the sisters' beauty was renowned among the upper-class, Yun-Ji and Hyeyong was given the choice to be exiled or to become a gisaeng. Yun-Ji, 8, was infuriated with humiliation and anger.

Yun-Ji fought back. screaming curses at the government and at Kyo Shin Ryu. Her words were offensive, and thus without warning, she was killed by the sudden stab of some guard's sword. Hyeyong, muted and numb to the entire situation, stood like an idiot being held by two guards. She mutely watches as the plum flower blossoms while her sister fell, dying the snow blood red. She fainted. When she woke up, Hyeyong was angry and humiliated. She didn't want to think that her sister, that doted on her so much, died. She couldn't believe how anyone could bear to kill a child--that's when she learnt that in this world, there's no such thing as mercy.

She wanted to kill. She wanted someone's blood sprayed onto the snow and she knew exactly who's she wanted. In her impulse, against her brother's pleas that fell upon death ears, she agreed to being a gisaeng. She left a letter written in blood to her brother and left with the guards to the gisaeng house. It was horrifying for her. She knew no one, and she knew she was no better than the low-class. At least the low-class could still have their dignity; she had none. She was given none. A phoenix that fell is worse than a chicken (chinese saying). She was looked down upon because of her father's act--something that she knew, and was very sure her father didn't do. Yet, she was shunned by others. A tainted name.

Hyeyong worked hard. She no longer had the life she once had. She had her fair shares of punishments for not doing well enough. The built-up stress made her want to give up a few times. She wanted to end her life, but everytime she has that thought she thinks of her sister. Her innocent sister and her family that didn't deserve what they got. She cried several times in the night, and slowly, she learned to put on a mask. She couldn't let anyone see her vulnerable state, it would only bring more harm to her. She had to be strong. Hyeyong had never been strong, until being strong was the only thing that she could do. With her mind set on revenge, and with that burning hatred that pushed her on, Hyeyong slowly trained herself to the high standards that she set for herself. She couldn't settle for anything less. She wanted the apex, she didn't care if her eyes were blinded with fury. She needs to be on top, to get to the people that she wants to revenge on. Fate took an innocent girl's life and twisted another. No one could stay innocent after witnessing such traumatic events.

She trained for six years before she officially made her debut. By this time, she had outgrown her childish features and blossomed into a mature, elegant beauty. So much that Shin Ryu, who had already threw the Kwon family into the dumps, couldn't remember her at all. She was horrified and utterly furious when she found out that the first customer she had to serve was him. However, she managed to force her raging emotions down. She wanted to place her fingers around his neck and strangle him, but it wouldn't do her any good. What she wanted wasn't just mere revenge, she wanted the truth. At the same time, she hated the system with a burning passion that she wanted to change it as well. The man that ruined her family couldn't even recognize her, and he ruined her. That night, she was well and throughoutly ruined by that person.

She never saw him again but her popularity started to rise at the gisaeng house. She knew that to find the truth, she needed all the help she could get. Of course, she wasn't intending on getting legal help. Her customers were all of upper-class, who brought her more secrets than anyone else. Through this, she also gained secret connections that she could pull strings to. She's not very experienced at this, but at least she knows how to make a man fall under her skirt. She figured she could learn; she had to know how to manipulate what she has to her advantage. She has to have her revenge, and she wouldn't settle for anything less.

Over the years, the hatred caused her heart to grow cold at upper-class and men. They treated her like a doll that they could play with, as if she was a mere plaything. They tried to break her, but to a person who's already break, what's left to break? This leaves her customers infuriated yet addicted. When they couldn't get something they want, they'd naturally keep coming back. At this point of time, Hyeyong met a guy that changed her in ways she never expected. She thought that when a heart died, it couldn't beat again, for any emotions. But he just had to prove her wrong.

Personality: Kwon Hyeyong is actually a very emotional girl. Her background caused her to feel a constant pain that she forces herself to ignore because she couldn't afford to be weak. She pushed herself to be strong so that she'll be able to raise. Hyeyong, thankfully, is also very flexible. She's able to adapt to her situations quickly, analyzing the problems and finding ways to solve them. If she can't directly solve them, there's bound to be an indirect way.

  • Strong -- 'You'll never know how strong you are until being strong is the only thing you can do.' Faced a ruined family, a death with an impact so harsh on her, she'd either die or live. She chose the latter and swore an oath on revenge. She's strong, yet weak at the same time. She's hanging by a thread and sometimes, she isn't even sure if she's able to hang on. This is very contradicting of her because she's been strong, that's how she managed to last all the years, but she's also very fragile.
  • Versatile -- One good trait about her is that she's adaptable, no matter what situation. It would be because she's very observant--her eyes are like hawk, not missing any details. She can sense emotions pretty well and deal with them accordingly. If the men wanted her to be a soft, sweet little child, she's able to do so. If they want her to be audacious, she can be outrages. This saved her life a lot of times in tensed situations.
  • Realistic -- Hyeyong witnessed how lives can change in a single night. She doesn't believe in miracles. She believes in herself and strive hard to achieve what she wants. She knows that for gisaengs, there's no such things as trust and romance. She knows better to keep her back.
  • Witty and humorous -- Despite all that she experienced, Hyeyong has a quick reaction and replies that more than often brings in outburst of laughter. The good thing about it is that she knows exactly how to phrase the words so that the people she's insulting doesn't even realize she's insulting them. Of course, a dangerous trait, but sometimes Hyeyong can be really impulsive.
  • Emotional -- Hyeyong does not like to show her emotions to the world, but beneath the veneer she shows, she's a raging storm of emotions. Sometimes she breaks down in the middle of the night, haunted with images of her sister death engraved within her. If you look into her eyes, you'll realize her facade isn't very professional at all.
  • Stubborn -- This is a trait that she got from her father. Surprisingly, also the very trait that brought their family the downfall. Hyeyong can be like an ox, insisting of her ways of opinions instead of listening to others. It's a flaw of hers.

Hobbies: n/a

Friends:
Lee Seung-gi / 22 / Best friend / Care-free, righteous, protective, charismatic / He is Hyeyong's gibu, also one of the few that truly cares for her. Hyeyong is like a sister to him that he dotes on a lot and she feels truly at ease with him. He actually likes her more than a sister and shows it. Hyeyong doesn't feel the same back to him but it's okay with him, he doesn't force her.

Ha Ji-won / 19 / Close friend / Confident, sarcastic, mother-like, truthful / Ji-won is the daughter of a salt merchant, of upper-middle class. She finds Hyeyong as a good friend that she can talk to and in turn doesn't discriminate Hyeyong at all. She has a vague idea of the Kwon's family situation but doesn't bring it up in front of Hyeyong.

Rivals:
Lee Soonkyu / 18 / rival / Nefarious, narrow-minded, simpleton,  / She had her eyes set on Minseok ever since she first saw him when she was fourteen. Minseok is a charming man that caught her breath. She thinks that Hyeyong stole him away as Minseok often avoids her but finds Hyeyong instead. She once tried to splash boiling hot water on Hyeyong but was stopped by Minseok, who took the blow instead. Even more angered at Minseok's protection towards Hyeyong, she found the need to humiliate the girl at every given chance. She broke Hyeyong's gayageum string once, causing her to be unable to perform. Once, when Soonkyu was unable to retort to Hyeyong's sarcasm, she slapped her in public.

Kim Minseok 'Xiumin'  20  Son of the Head of the Royal Investigation Bureau

Do Kyungsoo 'D.O' ♡ 20 ♡ Son of the Jeongrang of the Ministry of Rites

Background: Kim Minseok was born into the upper-class society. His mother, the legitimate wife of his father only had one son and that's him, thus she dotes on him a lot. Although his father had many concubines and sons, he is very fond of Minseok as Minseok is his only legitimate son. Minseok also proved his worthiness as he grows to be a determined, dilligent and compassionate young man. Due to his upbringing, he has not much idea of the social outside. As his father is kind and his mother gentle, he believed that everyone was a kind hearted soul as well. How surprised was he to know that not everyone had kind intentions in life. He sees with his own eyes how people of the lower class were looked down upon and used. He hated the system, but he couldn't do much to change it.

Much like his father, Minseok has has excellent swordmanship and often duels with his father to train. Minseok hopes to enter the Royal Investigation Bereau like his father so as to serve justice. He'd seen enough of the frauds, bribes and underground stuffs. They irks him to no extend and Minseok wants to change the world, not matter how impossible that sounds. At least, he has a dream and a motivation to fight for it. Minseok is very close to his trainer, who taught him how to wield a sword and aim an arrow. His trainer is like a father figure to him that comforts him and teaches him a lot of things in life whenever his busy father couldn't. Minseok tries to reach out to his other siblings but they either doesn't like him or feels too inferior to be compared him with, thus making Minseok very lonely since young.

His mother had tried to match-make him with the daughter of powerful minister but Minseok didn't agree with it. It was the first time that he disobeyed his parent's order and that made him feel guitly but he stands his ground. He does not like the girl who is too snobbish and oblivious to the sufferings around her. He finds her attitue distasteful and tried to kindly speak to her about his reasons. However, she felt that he was being idiotic and stormed off in anger. Thankfully, the engagment was called off and Minseok could finally breathe in relief again.

What changed Minseok's perception of serving the Emperor was when he witness (by accident) a bribary within the Royal Investigation Bureau and his father was part of it. Minseok had wanted to rush in and scream at his father, asking him why was he doing it but managed to stop himself. There'd be no use creating a scene. Back at home, Minseok asked his father why are there corruption in this world and his father had only looked at him solemnly.

"I know you saw what happened, Minseok."
"Yes, Father, I did. Can you tell me why? Why did you accept? Wasn't the Bureau suppose to bring justice? Why?!"
"Minseok, I can only tell you that this is life. You will understand when you get older."

Minseok did understand. He understood that it was because of greed. Greed for more money and more power. He never questioned his father's action ever again, but his father can tell that their relationship had changed. Still, his father doted on Minseok a lot and Minseok respected his father as a son should. Due to his compassion and willingness to place down his pride to help others, everyone respected him and liked him; he was unlike other nobles. As years past, he witness more and more different type of corruption and his expectation of the upper-class is slowly going down the drain. He couldn't believe that people would make use of their privilegdes in such bad ways. He believed that if a person is blessed with something, they should make good use out of it. His disappointment speared him on even more to make changes. He wanted equality and justice.

What motivated him even more was when he came to know Hyeyong. He couldn't stand seeing someone so innocent tainted by something so dirty. He couldn't stop himself from wanting to protect her when he stare into those eyes. After he really fell for her, he felt the strong need to protect her from discrimination. He didn't think that Hyeyong, or any gisaeng, deserved to be used like puppets and toys just because they're not rich. He wants her to be his, and there's only one way to do so. He wants to change the system.

Personality:
  • Mature -- Minseok is really mature for his age. He thinks through problems a lot and strive to find solutions for them. He believes that just because he has everything given to him, doesn't mean he doesn't have to work to have what he wants.
  • Dilligent -- He's the hard-working type that puts in double of his efforts to complete things. Sometimes, he might overwork but he's not one to be lazy. He ensures that everything is perfectly done to his best.
  • Logical -- He has brains and he isn't shy to use them. In fact, the only illogical thing that he's doing is wishing to do the impossible just for a woman! But Minseok thinks that the original system is illogical anyway, so maybe it's not that ridiculous.
  • Competent -- He doesn't officially work in the Bureau, but helps out whenever he can. His father doesn't stop him either, as in a way, it's to train Minseok so that when he joins the Bureau in future, he's able to get used to the work. Albeit young, Minseok has achieved far more than actual officials.
  • Dependable and trustworthy -- He's a very responsible guy that people just couldn't help but place their trust in. He proves to them that he's able to complete what he promises and also because he wants to be the one that Hyeyong can depend on.
  • Naive -- Due to his upbringing, he tends to think the better of people and doesn't realize that not everyone has good intentions or thoughts. He once--and still--believes that the world is a beautiful place. This causes him often to be cheated by others.
  • Compassionate/Affectionate -- As long as anyone requires his help, he is more than willing to lend a hand. From finding a granny her way home, to helping old farmers harvest. He's a very warm type of a guy with a sweet and genuine smile.

Relationship: He had actually seen Hyeyong once when she had been 13 and he was 16. He first felt his world froze when he saw Hyeyong's smile. That had been one of the rarest genuine smile of Hyeyong. It had been spring and Hyeyong was dancing. She was intending to cheer up and old begger who told Hyeyong that she reminded him of his daughter, who passed away due to starvation. Hyeyong, sympathetic, then danced for him. That not only cheered the old man up, but cheer Hyeyong up as well. Hyeyong had never smiled so happily, and that smile caught Minseok in a trap ever since.

They met again when he was 18, his father had deemed him adult enough to started learning about the ways of society. He met Hyeyong again but couldn't recognize her as she had her cake of rogue makeups on, covering her simple beauty. He felt a familiar tug towards her and his father noticed. Initially, his father thought that there was nothing wrong for a man to be infatuated with a beautiful lady so he didn't mind. In fact, he initiated the night between the two. Hyeyong was also compelled towards Minseok by his gentleness and respect. He had been different from other men, and Hyeyong couldn't help but felt at ease with him. So much that when he asked for her name that night, she had given him her real name instead of 'Iseul', her given name.

Afterwards, Minseok couldn't stop himself from visiting Hyeyong regularly. Apart from the one night they had together, Minseok never touched her intimately as a form of respect for her. She had found it somewhat hilarious at first and tried to initiate something between them when she finally realized that he really wanted to respect her. Impressed, she was willing to simply be friends with him. They are no doubt very close, as they share secrets. She became the only one that understood Minseok even more than his parents and family; she became his muse.

Minseok knew that he was slowly falling for Hyeyong. The initial resistance wore off very quickly as for once, Minseok wanted to be true to his feelings. He love Hyeyong, and he's not afraid to admit it. The only thing holding him back is that he knows this love will not be allowed. It's illegal and will put his family to shame. His father may be reasonable, but even he would not be happy to know that his son is in love with a woman of a lowly status. When Minseok's father found out, he banned Minseok from meeting her ever again. Minseok had tried to disobey but almost caused the unknowing Hyeyong to suffer. He learnt his lesson and opt to protect Hyeyong from afar, even if his love would not get to her. What he doesn't realize was that Hyeyong had also fallen for him, and felt betrayed when he stopped turning up.

How they met: Their first meeting was unknown to Hyeyong, when she was dancing for an old man and Minseok had witnessed the scene. At the fleeting moment, he felt a sudden urge to see her dance for him, only for him.

scene requests?: Some cute, fluffy scenes between Minseok and her? Like how he would always visit her and chat with her, with some nonsensical quibble between the two.

And/or Minseok protecting Hyeyong from afar, making sure that she won't be targeted for harm by his family? His heartache and love for her that cannot be told, separated by the walls of the gisaeng house and Hyeyong pinning for him. Crying for the first time in her life as she dances, hoping to forget about him.

I've fallen quite hard over you.

Okay the background is pretty good. I'm still not sure what your giasaeng's specialties are though. I still have a problem with the ratings. I really appreciate the effort you put into your character, but her personality is still somewhat similar to mine. Also there are some oxymorons I spotted. Somewhere in the app it says she has a lot of connections, and stuff like that, and in the trivia, it says she isn't manipulative. I'm going to stress this again, but I still see some similarities here and my app. I dunno what else to say Bc the only thing you changed is the background, really. The only reason why I wouldn't pick this app is Bc it's super similar to mine. Best of luck, and thank you for applying.
(Reminder: please don't ask me to review your app again, your two chances are up. But if you do wanna edit, let me know so I can look at it again before decision times rolls around.)

Uh Hi thanks for applying!
Anyways lets start off with your review:
Uh, I don't really get the temptress vibe from your OC, but thats okay. Your app was very detailed and thorough, which is something I greatly appreciate because its very cogent.
There's nothing wrong with your app, in fact, I would have been very impressed with it, but your oc, no offense, sounds really similar to my character for this story. The background is almost identical, with a few changes, and I'm not sure, your love interest and his story has a few similarities. The thing about apply stories, is I tend to pick OC's that are very different from each other.
Also: Your gisaeng ratings are really high. It would be fine if you gave yourself 5's in similar subjects, but gisaengs are still people you know?
I'm not really accusing you of saying that yours is super similar to mine, but uniqueness is also a big part of my rubric.
Alright well thats the end of my review! I do look at apps twice, so you may ask me for another review once more if you want me to look at an edited version or something! Thank you for applying!
