background - Sung Rin's family was the archetypal Asian family. Study hard, get a well-paid job and settle down. Her sisters and her were groomed since young and has that mentality instilled in them since young. The older of her twin sister is a top-notch lawyer while the younger twin is accountant highly sought after. Sung Rin? She can sing, really well at that too. But does her family regard that as a talent? No.

Sung Rin pretty much grew up in an environment where every achievement of hers was given little to no recognition. Not because her achievements were petty awards but rather her older siblings has already achieved them and more. Growing up being constantly over-shadowed by her over-achieving sisters, Sung Rin never really had a happy childhood. She would spent countless hours a day in the library reading up on any subjects that she can lay her hands on. Her parents would send her to countless amounts of enrichment lessons. Piano,violin , drama and acting. You name it, she did it. However, that does not meant that she aced all of them. As a result of the lack of recognition that she receives, Sung Rin sometimes lose her drive to finish up her enrichment lessons. She never made it pass grade 2 of violin and grade 4 of piano because since her sister had already aced both of the instruments, she didn't want to waste her time. She knew if she aced something that only she is good at, then maybe her parents might finally acknowledge her efforts. So at the tender age of 9, she starting to quit all the enrichment lessons that she had no interest in and signed up for vocal and opera classes.

Since middle school, she has been in her school choir and has sung solo countless times in performances. Since she studied at an international school since kindergarten, she was used to the bi-lingual education system and took on a third language ( Mandarin ) when she was 15 as it was a compulsory module.

A month after her 16th birthday, she went to watch the Les Miserables musical with her choir. The musical resonated with Sung Rin and it became a catalyst that helped her decide to become an idol. When she first broke the news to her parents that she wanted to become her idol, her parents were extremely skeptical of her.The couple never saw being an entertainer as a "prestigious" job and never thought their daughter had the potential to make it in the industry. It took much persuasion by Sung Rin and her vocal coach did her parents allowed her to audition. It came with a price though. Sung Rin has only 4 years to train and debut. If she doesn't make it by the time four years has passed, she would have to give up her dream and return to studying.

Sung Rin immediately signed up for auditions with all the labels that are scouting and got into Jellyfish Entertainment.

personality - Sung Rin portrays herself as a serious kid. Because of her upbringing, Sung Rin is good when it comes to obeying commands and seeing the reasoning behind them. However, she is also flexible enough to play around those rules such that she benefits from it.Slightly manipulative,if you will. She is also very determined and has a minor perfectionist attitude. Minor as in she only expects a lot from yourself and does not tries to force her perfectionist attitude on others. She is very straight-forward and level-headed. She does not like to complicate things in life and when she has something to say, she will say it though it may come off as crude or overly honest to people. She is also very observant of the people around her and does not take compliments well. Not in a bad way but rather, she is overwhelmed when people compliment her and does not know how to react. Sung Rin is also an independent person and does not like to rely much on people though she is fine when people rely on her. She rather likes the feeling of being valued.

On stage, she likes to give it her all, exuding this sense of confidence that is hers and hers only. She likes to feel empowered by her singing .While she is with the other girls in Blue, she likes to tease the younger ones and disturb the older ones for fun. She is also more kind with the people that she is closer with, namely the girls in Blue, and constantly tries to bond the group together. She compliments her juniors a lot too, because she feels like compliments can help one grow better as opposed to having none,as she understands how it was like to constantly be brought down.It is undeniable that she changed after becoming a trainee, showing a more cheeky side of herself that no one in her family knew of. She likes humour, especially dark humour, however only reserves her jokes and antics for people close to her only. However, sometimes, the cheeky Sung Rin might make an appearance during interviews and performances. Also, most of her jokes come across as corny or lame.

The constant "Your sisters are better than you." comments did do their damage on Sung Rin however, causing her to have a inferiority complex.Sometimes she would stop singing mid-song when a high/ long note approaches and she would doubt her ability. She also think that she isn't as pretty as her sisters and would sometime spent hours in front of the mirror just wishing she had bigger eyes and plumper lips. The only facial features that she feels good about are her nose and her skin tone.

fashion style - She is the type of girls that value comfort over style and generally prefers wearing sweaters with skinny jeans /skirts/ leggings. She knows she is tall but sometimes she can't resist the temptation of wearing high heels. She prefers mainly platform heels and stilettos and sometimes switches to knee high boots for a twists too. Not really fond of jewelry other than a small necklace. When a stylist doesn't style her hair, she either leaves it down or ties it up into a messy bun. Comfortable with heavy makeup and focuses on her eyes when she does her make up.

She was the one that secretly sent money to Sung Rin even though her husband has banned anyone in the family from providing any aid for Sung Rin. She is against Sung Rin for wanting to be an idol but doesn't want her daughter to suffer.

Why must his daughter pursuit something as ridiculous as being an entertainer? Why can't she settle as a doctor, professor? What will the relatives think? A man that values his reputation, he is strict with how his family is run and is a no-nonsense kind of guy. Distant with his children as they are all afraid of him.

Sung Rin only confides to her sisters and the twins constantly update each other on their little sister. The sisters understand that because of their accomplishments the expectations for their little sister by their parents has risen.However, that doesn't stop them from loving their little sister. Their huge caused the twins to constantly see Sung Rin as their baby sister and they tend to be extremely supportive of anything she does.

She sometimes feels bad at how her little sister is treated by her parents especially when it came to the whole idol issue. Thus, she tries to remove the tension by using her sense of humour. Though Sung Rin rarely laughs at her jokes, Sung Rin appreciates what her sisters are doing for her and sometimes uses the same jokes she was told on others.

``Hwang Sun Min | 20 | trainee | 5 | One of the fourteen girls that was selected for the audition. She like Sung Rin are training to be the vocalist of the group. The duo are really close as they not only train together, they dorm together too. The other girls frequently dubbed the duo as 2Sun considering how the two were always together. Howevr, Sun Min never made it to the final lineup of Blue. It was hard during the selection process as the remaining position left was that of the lead vocalist and the two of them are the only trainees in that field that has yet to be chosen.

`` Lee Ha Yi [Lee Hi] | 17 | Solo Artist | 3 | When Blue first debuted to Leehi was having her comeback and was the only artist that stayed and watched Blue's debut stage. However, Blue did not know of this as Lee Hi only stayed for half of the performance as she has another schedule to rush to. It was not till Sung Rin was looking through her group's twitter mention that she realised that LeeHi had snapped a photo of the girls when they are performing and posted it on twitter. SungRin immediately thanked LeeHi on twitter and two started to pm each other. It was awkward at first for the two as LeeHi is not only younger but also a senior in the industry.But it worked out well.

their story -Because of how busy VIXX is becoming with their growing popularity, the members never had a chance to drop in and say hi to the trainees. Sung Ri first met VIXX when Blue debuted and went to the MV set for VIXX's upcoming comeback to cheer on them. Everything was going on well with VIXX giving Blue encouragements and tips. The girls knew how a big fan Sung Ri is of VIXX and N asked who is her favourite in the group. Caught off-guard and flustered by the question, she replied, " Nobody."

A few days after the encounter, Sung Ri return to the practice room after remembering that she left her phone back in the studio. As she enters the studio, she accidentally barges into VIXX who was in the midst of recording their dance practice video. She immediately apologised for intruding and wanted to grab her phone and just leave. But she remembered what she said a few days back and decided to clarify everything and finally admit that her favourite in the group is Ken.

As the camera is still rolling, her confession and flustered look is all recorded, much to VIXX's amusement when they rewatched the video days later. Every member laughed and commented on how cute Sung Rin was, especially Ken, and N wanted to include Leo into the conversation so he casually asked, " Our junior is so cute right? She is a vocalist just like you too, you know." and to everyone's surprise, Leo replied. "Yea, she is cute."

their story - Sung Rin and Kris attended the same variety show. During the show, the host posted a question to Kris however Kris could not fully understand the question and became embarrassed. Sensing the situation, Sung Rin jumped to his rescue and translated the question for Kris. After the recording, Kris wanted to thank Sung Rin and ask if they could add each other on SNS.

trainee background: Though Sung Rin has a good background in vocals and opera, the singing style used for opera/choir singing is vastly different from pop singing and at such, she often finds it as a challenge to switch between the singing methods. She has no problems with dancing however she is not superb at it and thus tries to step up her game at that too.

total years training: 2.5 years

weak points: Overly focused on trying to synchronize her singing and dancing that she loses her eye contact with the camera/ audiences and starts to look at the floor or space off instead.
