Character Background

  Jaya was never popular in school and she preferred a few close best friends over a ton of friends. She always had a couple more guy friends compared to girl friends. Jaya tends to be like a sponge, meaning if her friends are having problems in their lives Jaya is feeling the same emotions and wanting/needing to help them no matter what until everything is good again. Eventually she is always there for them  but when she needs someone, they won't know it because she just hides her problems or her feelings til it's passed. Woong is usually there for her but the past couple years he hasn't been around much due to his modeling career. Leaving Jaya feeling lonely and honestly a little bit lost in this big entertainment world.

 

Personality

  Jaya is shy, except when you know her. Once you know her, she's not shy.. just quiet and reserved, someone who speaks only when they have to or if they feel it is necessary. She notices things that others don't but doesn't always feel it is her place to talk about/bring up what she may notice, afterall everyone has their reasons for what they do. Jaya has only ever talked about her brothers but it's no secret who the rest of her family is.  Jaya bottles up her emotions and doesn't act out until she's reached her limits. Many people view her as shy because she doesn't talk very much and doesn't make an effort to meet new people very much. Or she is viewed as cold because she doesn't smile very much, only her brother Woong knows how to draw a smile from her face. Jaya is stubborn, if she doesn't want to do something, especially something she's scared of it'll take a lot of convincing and possible bribing to get her to do it. Has a hard time trying new things, except food, let her try it all!

 

Family Background

  Jaya comes from a family of busy bodies. It's practically a competetion for who can be the most successful and bring honor to their family/name. Her mother is a famous photographer use to be model therefore the spotlight has always been on the family. They lived in Jeju til Jaya was 7 and then moved to Los Angeles, after her Father (Nam Jinki) passed away. He also had drinking problems and this was the cause of his death. With all of her older siblings now living in Korea and with her finally being accepted into a company, the rest of the family moves to Seoul as well.

 Lee So Ah - Mother- 56 - Model turned photgrapher.

  Was a very famous model. Dated numerous guys before marrying her first husband Kim Dae Gyu. She had her first two daughters with him before they divorced, due to his drinking problems.  A few years later she married Nam JunKi, who is the father of her other three children. Jaya not only resembles her Father but has the same love for singing he had. This makes it hard for So Ah as she loved him very much and "see's" too much of him in Jaya and  Woong.

   

Kim Gyuri - Eldest Sister - 30 - Actress in Korea

   Hasn't ever really been in Jaya's life as she auditioned as an actress at the age of 19 when Jaya was just 9. Has lived in Seoul since she was 20 and occasionally comes back to America on holidays to visit the family.

 

Kim Sung Sin - Older Sister - 28 - Fashion Designer/ Designs shoes

    Travels everywhere for fashion shows and photoshoots that she either critiques or is the designer of the shoes.

 

Nam Woong - Older Brother - 22 - Model

   Is the closest to Jaya and feels the need to protect her from just about eveyrthing and everyone. Even their mother, because she pushes Jaya and him the most. Yet at the same time their mother distances herself from them. Jaya doesn't know that it is because they resemble their Father and Woong has felt the need to keep this from her, because she had always been a daddy's girl.

 

Nam Dae Hwan - Younger Brother - 17 -Student

 Looks up to all of his siblings and hopes to be successful like them. He is a bit of a prankster though and gets into trouble often.

  

 

Likes Oreo Icecream. Rain. Eating Icecream when it rains/when it's too cold for icecream. Although she dislikes heels, she loves sneaker wedges. Loves black and white photography. Guys that can play guitar. Poetry that seems to stir her soul/inner thoughts. Romantic comedies.

Dislikes Invasion of Personal Space/Privacy. People that think they know her better than she does. Always being asked to do aegyo because she has that "face" (I mean aegyo what the hell is that??). High heels and revealing outfits. Scary movies of any kind are a big NO. Heights and fast things like amusement park rides.

Favorite Colors Blue, Black, Grey, Green.

Habits Rubs her nails together when she is nervous. While thinking she will take a part of her hair and twist it in her fingers. Sneeks out to take a walk/jog if she can't sleep/ or is feeling stressed.

Hobbies Reading. Listens to music all the time for inspiration. Occasionally writes her own lyrics but never shows anyone cuz she doesn't think they are good enough.

∞ Life as a Trainee ∞

 How were you discovered?

   Jaya was in Korea visiting her cousin Eli (U-Kiss) and while his schedule was free he took her around Seoul. Icecream being her weakness she dragged Eli into a shop where they happened to have an open mic. Eli dares her to go up and sing, knowing how good she is. Despite her answer of no, she gives in and sings. A YG scout notices her and gets her to audition. She trains under YG for a year before she quits, feeling like she just doesn't fit in with the company very well. Not wanting to give up on singing, she auditions for other companies. After two months she finally gets accepted by Woollim.

How long did you train? 1 yr and 5 months -- 1 yr at YG.. 5 months with Woollim.

   Despite having been under the same company the two just never clicked. It started with Jaya being told to practice in a certain room and Bom being scheduled to practice in that same room. Bom wanting the room for herself forced Jaya out and when Jaya was asked why she wasn't practicing, Bom was the one who got into trouble.  TOP became friends with Jaya after having done a photoshoot for Jaya's mother.  Bom became jealous when TOP ditched her one day to help Jaya with her rap.
