Woollim Entertainment merges with SM C&C

A/N: I saw this news YESTERDAY and I like WTAF HAPPENED?!!!

Will SM know their LIMITS? I guess not... It's not that I'm against it... They're in good hands... I THINK? But it is still WOOLLIM LABEL... (as INFINITE said... They trust their CEO)... :((

SM Entertainment announced today that it had acquired Woollim Entertainment that has idol boy group INFINITE and others on its books.

Just like several other major music labels that have acquired different companies along with their singers but still preserving their distinct colours, SM Entertainment is hoping to become Asia’s leading label business through their latest acquire, which is similar to those belonging to Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and many others.

After being merged into SM C&C, INFINITE, Nell, Tasty, and Lee Jung Yeop (Woollim Entertainment CEO) will now stand under the independent Woollim Label, and continue working in their own distinct colours as compared to artists contracted under SM Entertainment.

Woollim Label will continue to develop their unique music flavours, and groom musicians of various genres. They will work together with SM Entertainment and SM C&C, just like other subsidiary companies, and create even better results.

The merger will no doubt increase global recognition of Woollim Label artistes like INFINITE, NELL, and Tasty, but also see them reap benefits especially with the contacts and reach that SM Entertainment possesses. Sales and profits of SM Group on the whole will no doubt see an increase in the long term.

SM Entertainment will be in charge of international distribution of music and other related businesses, while SM C&C will be responsible for the operations within the label. A related staff said, “We want to link up to the global world through our business structure and scale, and become Korea’s first global music company as well as Asia’s biggest music group. We will work hard to become a company that develops famous musicians that are made in South Korea.”
