Subscribers only

honestly guys, am I the only one who thinks this option is kind of... ridiculous?

I mean, as an author I can relate about wanting people to notice our stories and to comment and stuff, but, isn't it most important for them just to read and enjoy?

Of course I would love everyone's comments on my stories but let's be realistic, even if you are a subscriber you can just not comment at all.

so why making your stories like this?

Personally, sometimes you guys tell me how was it on Twitter or Faceboor because you do not have a AFF account and believe me, I'm thankful for that.

Making my stories subscribers only would literally discourage my readers and just go away. I don't want that. I want you all to enjoy even if you're silent.

I never ask for too many comments anyways. IMA has more than 300 subscribers and I get about 30 comments per chapter and you know what? I freaking love them all. I read them, over and over again, I even try to memorize your comments and your user names. Even if just one commented I would still love it, I would still update (slowly but I will) and I would still be glad that at least you keep reading it.

So no, I will never mark my stories for only subscribers (though I can understand completely the option 'members only' so the authors can keep track of what they're writing).

Well, maybe I will sometime, but only if you guys make me angry. u.u

I love you all anyways~

PS: I respect everyone's desicions though, authors are different and if one wants you to subscribe, it's because their stories are worth you subscribing. u.u

Just joined today because I wanted to read some ff buy I don't understand these terms like "subscribers only" and "members only"? And how I can do that because almost every story I wanna read has that and I just wanna give up. Thus $h*t is too complicated

I do it due to the fact hardly no one comments.. Its been years and it's the same.. So most of my stories are subscribe only

I have no idea how my fanfics got to have "subscribers only, members only" on them and i don't know how to turn it off? i don't really care if i have subscribers or not and i definitely don't want people to feel obligated to subscribe to me. Do you know how i can change that option and make it available to everyone?

hey i'm just here to give you a different opinion, there may be the people that use this feature to try to get more subscribers but do you know why i use this feature? so my readers can get a notification whenever i update a fic, i believe this is the real reason this feature was brought up. when i post up a new chaptered fic i am writing i put the option on, so those that were interested in it can know the moment they log in that i had updated, when i am done with it i turn it off because nobody will have new notifications anyway. i think people just have to know how to use features for the good of their readers.

In my opinion, as a newbie in AFF, it's good to have our fanfic public so that people can read our story and decide it's good or not. It's for good of course. We can promote our fanfic in other social media so that people could get interested and read our fanfic offline (even if they don't have AFF account). Actually, i'm thinking of making my fanfic subscriber only, but thinking of other things, it's the best not to.

I was actually thinking if putting my story up as a subscribers only would be good or not but thank god I read your blog cause now I think it's best not to do that. Thanks for making this blog! :D

Actually I see no reason why this option is such a 'bad thing' on here to be honest. Yes, some users do have this option to gain more subscribers but to those who believe that all of them do that? That's a harsh generalization. Maybe some use it because of thieves or perhaps, they just feel comfortable having a select group read their stuff. And if you don't like it then just UNSUBSCRIBE. It only takes two clicks ^^; No harm, no fowl right?

No, I totally agree. Why would AFF allow it? I have immediately unsubscribed to all the fics that put up this option because it's stupid. People should be able to view your fic before deciding to subscribe and not be forced to do it straight away.

i just read this and yes i totally agree you, sometimes i even subscribe the story when i found the foreword interesting but then unsuscribe when I get dissapointed..hehe so cruel of me but then that's it.... although i was actually of thinking that there is a right time for an author to tag it as subscriber only and i think it is the time when an author already mark her story as COMPLETED...

agree to you,
seriously, I'm kind of annoyed to those authors whom insist us, readers, to comment.
well, I usually didn't mind to give compliment or advice for everything I read.
but being forced to say something, sometimes it's getting me upset and say bye-bye to those authors

and you Eri, is one of less authors I love the most.
keep being who you are.

I like that some/most stories on aff can be read without having your own account.

THIS! I can totally understand you! I mean, what's the point of having people subscribe when they're gonna unsubscribe in the end? I kinda noticed how authors use this feature. Well, to each is their own. I love your stories - I really do. But I can't read them consistently due to work. And I'm ng thankful that you're not one of those who almost force their readers to drop a comment on their work. You're not selfish with your stories and that made me and your other readers love you more. Hwaiting Eri! :*
