The Meaning of Love

Future - such an abstract idea inside their minds. They never thought they'd last till then, that their team would stand the test of time, that they won't become average like all the others, breaking the one and only dream they dreamt together for so long. No, they surely didn't that the army will only make them believe stronger in their purpose, that they rainy nights will only make them long for that one shining place they once had at their feet.

Future - they all turned different in time. Siwon went in Ethiopia for the love of Christ, Yesung devoted himself to teaching the music he dearly loved to kids, Eunhyuk opened his own dancing studio, while his partner in crime, Donghae, or Fishy, became a well known MC; Leeteuk got married, Sungmin turned his back on show business and moved outside of Seoul, Shindong became the dad of another woman's twins, Kangin married  lucky ELF, Ryeowook opened his own restaurant where he often cooks for his clients, while Heechul openly admitted his preference of guys.

Future - he, he never thought he'd have one. Not when the car rolled on the street, giving him scars he'd always wear with him from that point onwards, not when the war broke and the bombs exploded few meters away from the place where he was trembling while having to lead his men in battle.

Future - it was always something blue, something too old to be touched, something glittering, something like a light shining in the distance: too far away to be touched or caught.

But there they are, today, after the peace was finally restored on the lands of South Korea, today, ten years later from the point they announced their disband. Today, Super Junior got to walk on a stage similar to those in their youth, having thousands of eyes watching them.

Kyuhyun knew it was his final stage. He was prepared for it ever since Sungmin returned from the army, ever since they signed with Cube. He prepared himself with vocal lessons, with every music sheet he managed to read top bottom. And now, the moment has finally came for them to be once again one, to return the love their fans gave them over the years that passed.

And for this special stage, they came with a new song, a new ballad to mark their comeback as Super Junior. Wasn't it odd for them be thrilled like kids in front of toys while the cameras were watching them? Wasn't it difficult to remember the lyrics? No. Kyuhyun was there, he had prepared himself for anything that could have come between them and perfection  on stage.

The piano set the atmosphere while Yesung sung his heart out in front of the crying ELFs. And then Kyuhyun took the turn. With a bitter smile, he pulled out his ear plug, letting it hang loose down on the collar of his checkered shirt while his fingers held tighter on the mic. The camera focused on his face, showing his closed eyes to the entire world. He had a song to sing, a message to deliver, a story to tell, tear to cry and smiles to give. But oh, the time! Precious friend and merciless enemy at the same time! He knew that his notes would reach the sky, touch hearts, make the silence tremble. He knew that. But the others were unaware. They didn't knew, they'd didn't see how the skin was stretching over the cheekbones under the thick layer of make-up, how the eyes slowly became unfocused, how the his lips paled when the last high note escaped from his throat... they were unable to feel the emptiness howling inside of him.

For he was empty. He was broken.

This time, he was irreparable. Just like a broken porcelain that you can no longer glue together.

Future - the day Kyuhyun delivered his own song to the fans that patiently waited for them, the day his voice reached Heaven.

Future - the day Kyuhyun died.
