The Faults In Our Stars

Hello.

18th of May 2013 marks the day i finished reading the most emotional book i've ever encountered with in my entire life.

no, i've never met personally with someone who suffered stadium IV cancer.

no, cancer does not live inside my body.

but yes, The Faults In Our Stars have moved me in any ways people could ever think of.

I know this site is probably filled with Korean or Japanese fics, but i'd like to share a piece of my mind.

I'm not screaming for attention.

I don't even wish people would notice this post but please let me be.

Augustus Waters was a blood-boiling hottie. I swear in my whole life he'd be the perfect teenage boy. How cancer takes up his whole life, it's devastating really, but what the heck, the world is a freaking war.

How John Green wrote the book, it's like as if I'm living in Hazel Grace's world myself. Breathing through Augustus' scent in the warm Indiana air. Dragging an oxygen tank wherever I go. Simply pulling my hair in frustration when I knew Gus died.

To those people in this website who actually read the book and felt as if their hearts had been torn out from your bodies, I feel you.

It's funny really, how I imagined Jo Youngmin to be the Augustus Waters with the crooked smile and blue eyes and myself as Hazel Grace with a cannula on my nose every freaking seconds of my life, and how devastated I was when I reached to that point when Augustus Waters (Jo Youngmin) had to leave Hazel Grace (me) forever.

but yeah, The Faults In Our Stars will forever be the best book I have read. Please do check this book out, throwing away the thought that this book might leave you a scar for the rest of your life (trust me I'm not exaggerating. I swear this is true).

You might think "Why would I read some story without my idols in it?" or "I'd rather read things from asianfanfics, tumblr, etc." trust me when i tell you this, I'd be willing to write the whole book into this site and change Augustus' name into an idol, but no I won't do something like that for it's simply wrong and not legit.

I guess that's all. I'm from Indonesia by the way. Hurray to all Indonesians out there!

oh and the book taught something to me. I've been wishing for another life where I could meet my idol and actually befriend them, and maybe have this beautiful love story like the ones I've read in this site, but hey, "the world is not a wish-granting factory".

Some quotes I found extremely moving from the book:

“My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.”

“Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.”

“The marks humans leave are too often scars.”

“But it is the nature of stars to cross, and never was Shakespeare more wrong than when he has Cassius note, ‘The fault-, dear Brutus, is not -in our stars / But in ourselves.”

Have a good day everyone. Good day.
