Kihyun was born in seoul but later on move to california with her family when she is the age of 5. They went to california due to her mother working period, she was sent there for a artist exhibitions that last for 1 month. She was incharge with the preparations, the drawings and whatever things they needed. She need time to prepare for this, so their parents decided to go with minhye to california. They actually have planned to stay in california for a longer period, maybe 8-10 years.
But things werent go in plan, california held a Global SM audition and G-Dragon was selected, so they have to move back to seoul. In 5 years, g-dragon decided to change his record company to YG and after that, kihyun was only 10 years old and she was hired by some runway company. She was trained to walk like how the runway models did and so on. In 3 years later, she finally debut as the youngest runway model. She gained herself her name, 'Youngest runway jewel' because at the age of 15, she was sent to various country like Paris and London for their fashion shows as the final model.

Kihyun is scouted by SMent when she is at the age of 16. She trained for more than 5 years and during the period of time. she have quite a hard time to maintain her studies, her training and her modelling since she flying around the countries. Kihyun came to the point and quit her runway job at the age of 19 and decided to focus on her college and her trainings. Although she really like runway but in order to became like her oppa.
She learns rap, dance, singing and alot of things such as stage performance etc. She tried really hard but due to her image before that, she cried really hard and tried to change but she have more than a million of antis.
