AFF Survey [Stolen from kpoppunks]

[ 1 ] What is your username?

gardinia_love93

Yep, that gardinia was a complete and total typo and now I’m haunted by that mistake every time I’m logged on.

[ 2 ] Do you read or write fanfics?

Both.

Read if the writing and/or plot is great.

Write if I feel like it.

[ 3 ] When did you first start reading/writing fanfics?

When I was 11 and I had a crush on Kouichi from Digimon. Posted on Quizilla for a couple of years, then Fanfiction.net, Mibba and finally AFF in 2010. *nod* *nod*

[ 4 ] What was your first fandom?

K-pop wise I started as a Green Pea/Triple S (SS501) before they broke up ;; I still love going back and listening to their albums and drooling over Jung-Min’s deep vocals. I die every time one of them has a solo or comeback, and cried when Kyu-Jong left to the army ;;

[ 5 ] First ship?

I only ship friendship-wise. Based off how cute the friendship is… the Tom and Jerry couple, Jung-Min and Hyung-Jun~ So hilarious!

[ 6 ] What website(s) do you use the most?

AFF, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube, Mibba, We Heart It

[ 7 ] What do you think about AFF?

Love it and hate it.

Love it for my awesome subscribers who put up with my .

Hate it for the featured stories. I don’t care if I ever get put up there, but I know of a lot of authors that really do deserve to have their fics read because of great plots and mind-blowing writing. *sigh*

[ 8 ] What groups have you written?

Before I went on a delete rampage *laugh*? U-Kiss, SHINee, SS501, Teen Top, ZE:A, Block B, EXO, and Infinite (duh!).

[ 9 ] Pairings?

As an actual couple: SkyDragon (GD/CL), SpringTempo (TOP/Bom), KeyBer (Key/Amber), KrisBer (Kris/Amber)

As friends: MyungDong (L/Dong-Woo), LJong (L.Joe/Sung-Jong), ZiKyung (Zico/Kyung), XiuHan (Xiu-Min/Luhan)

[ 10 ] Any groups you would like to write?

Teen Top, Boyfriend, more EXO, ZE:A, Block B. I just need to find the right inspiration and right plot-line for all of them. *sigh*

[ 11 ] Do reviews affect how you write a story?

Yes, and no.

I like it just to see what sort of grammatical errors I’ve made and to see how my story looks like to an ‘outsider’, but other than that I continue on my merry way. I’m pretty stubborn. OTL

[ 12 ] Do you use a beta?

Been thinking about it. I never edit my chapters before-hand so a beta could be a good idea. Anyone wanna be my beta?

[ 13 ] What ratings do you read/write?

I’ll read anything.

I write M-rated because swears and are something that I’ll never avoid.

[ 14 ] What warnings have you used on your fanfic(s)?

Movie-type ratings because unless I don’t put everything that’s gonna be possible in the fic, we’ll probably have another under-aged child ratting me out to their mother and ruining AFF AGAIN.

I don’t do the whole “no plagiarizing” deal. My fics aren’t all that great to begin with. I’ll just disable the text copying for that. But meh. As long as you fully twist the plot and characters around, then we’re good.

[ 15 ] Do you have any squicks?

Wat?

[ 16 ] Do you roleplay online?

Can’t do it. It’s just so awkward.

[ 17 ] Have you ever stolen something from another person’s work?

Yep. Let’s face it, originality isn’t possible nowadays. I’ve taken something from someone else’s work, but I’ve tweaked it just enough that it’s become my own. i.e.No Strings Attached!” = ty high school fics. “Everything has changed” = ty es. “As I Drown in Paradise” = Arranged marriages & love triangles.

Everyone does it.

I’ve seen plots that have certain scenes or lines that have stemmed from my favorite books or movies, I’ve seen some stories that have my own plots in them; it doesn’t bother me because they’re usually twisted so far that it isn’t so obvious and blatant.

As long as you aren’t copying anything word for word, it’s fine.

[ 18 ] Favorite fandom to write/read?

Infinite, EXO, Block B, Teen Top.

[ 19 ] Favorite pairing?

Refer back to question numbero 9, por favor~

[ 20 ] Favorite writers?

kpoppunks, summerchild, nicoleu_, katsunotsubasa, springrain, 910409, and flutters.

All are amazing writing and have great plotlines. Check them out if you’ve got the time because their fics just blow my mind and make me work towards being a better writer!

[ 21 ] How long should a chapter be?

However long you feel it should be.

Sometimes I feel like I should put up a long 3000 word chapter with gorgeous words, beautiful imagery, and a lot of action for the reader to talk about, but then I just go ahead and write about 50% of that, even less. If the feeling isn’t there then that chapter is meant to be just as short or as long as it is.

Usually when I’m at the ends of a fic then I like to make the last few chapters a good 8000 words long (all scattered out).

[ 22 ] Do you read/write drabbles?

Read, when I need comfort or inspiration.

Write, when I need to get all my words out. Hence, why “About Happily Ever After” is such a hole at the moment.

[ 23 ] Any groups you avoid?

Groups I haven’t invested my time into watching variety shows, reality shows, following on Twitter or Me2Day. As much as I love them and listen to them, I can’t do it. I need to get a good basis of someone’s personality before I decide to write about them.

I’ve watched basically everything Infinite related so I feel extremely comfortable writing about them.

[ 24 ] Pairing you avoid?

Gay and lesbian pairings, writing wise. I can’t write about these kinds of pairings for . The closest I got was YaDong in “Hold my Hands” and even then their interactions were more like how friends treat each other, not an actual couple.

I can read boyxboy and girlxgirl pairings just fine though, only if the writing is amazing though.

[ 25 ] Warnings you avoid?

I try to avoid the ones with everything written Romanized Hangeul/Korean. I dunno, it’s just my own brain. I can’t go with the flow if it’s interrupted by a language that I never grew up around.

For example, if something was written in English with Spanish snuck in here and there, I’d be just fine because they’re my first and second languages.

It’s my own fault, not really the fault of the author’s since they want to exercise their Korean.

[ 26 ] Do the number of reviews tell how good a fanfic is?

I don’t trust book reviews as much as I trust a movie review. Same with a review on a blog about a fanfic and another review of a YouTube video. The words and visuals have different effects on the brain, IMO.

[ 27 ] What do you think of Mary Sue?

Everyone loves her, I try to recreate her.

I try to make my characters: Nina, Nadia, Kira, Ivanna, as flawed as I can without getting utterly ridiculous. Visually, I don’t describe them in so much detail because I want the reader to be able to step into their shoes and “become” the girls. Mentally, I add in my own flaws.

Nina: insecure about herself and males who try to get closer to her.

Nadia: Bipolar, depressed, bulimic, anorexic, -victim.

Kira: concerned about money and her status.

Ivanna: silent, religion was beat into her, daddy’s girl, falls into temptation when daddy isn’t looking.

But they’re all rich, pretty, ually enticing, usually have two males going after them… things that a Mary-Sue have, I just hide that behind their obvious flaws.

[ 28 ] Have you ever flamed someone?

Verbally, yes.

Written on the internet, never.

[ 29 ] Have you ever been flamed?

Probably, but meh!

[ 30 ] How many fanfics have you written?

On AFF: 40+

Half of that on here and the rest on my old account before I deleted it.

[ 31 ] What genres do you write or read?

Romances, dramas, angst.

Basically everything that the novellas that I watched as a kid taught me how “life” was like.

I read the same, but a bit more comedies and slices of life.

[ 32 ] What story of yours has the most comments and how many?

"No Strings Attached!" Totals up to 385 comments. *nod* *nod*

[ 33 ] Most words?

I’m gonna say "Hold my Hands" because it’s my longest fic by far on this site.

[ 34 ] Which one do you like the best?

My Sung-Gyu two-shot “In My Hands”. I felt like I wrote that one the best and my mind-set was clearer in that moment. It was a spontaneous story that stemmed from just a scene I had in my head and listening to my Leona Lewis albums.

[ 35 ] Which one do you like the least?

Within a Nightmare”, by far. I don’t care about the popularity on that one as much as my loss of inspiration. I used to have terrible nightmares and I wrote those down in this story, but now that my nightmares have gone away it’s just there. I can’t really bring myself to delete it though, dunno why.

[ 36 ] What do you think of hetero fanfics?

As long as its written well.

[ 37 ] Slash/?

As long as its written well.

[ 38 ] Favorite hetero pairing?

SkyDragon

[ 39 ] Favorite slash pairing?

Larry ;)

[ 40 ] What are your favorite genres?

“Mystery and action,” I whisper as I continue writing angsty romantic dramas.

[ 41 ] Will you read someone’s fanfics if they asked you to?

Probably. Don’t advertise it to me on my wall or in the comments section like a door to door Bible salesman with the same script and expect me to go and read it. THAT’S a turn off.

I’ll read someone’s fic if they ask nicely and the plot is also nicely planned out. *nod* *nod*
