White Love by Starship Planet Review by vnxazn

Song Title [4/5]

I really do love the title "White Love." It's just that I felt a bit of deja vu seeing it. Anyone remember "Pink Romance" by Starship Planet? Well, there you go. Just a little trip down memory lane. Unless that was what Starship was going for. In that case, I see what you did there!

Video Plot [17/20]

Um, not so crazy about the whole video plot. So far, it seems to be about how a girl mysteriously appears and begins stalking Jeongmin who is a photographer of some sort. What is he a photographer of? Apparently children, himself, and bicycles. Okay. So he starts out sitting on a bench, blowing some bubbles and, whoosh!, in comes Huh Ji Won! He then gets creeped out by this and uncomfortably walks away, leaving behind his precious bubbles (sobs). She then stalks him as he walks around, popping into his pictures. Now, if I were him, I'd be pissed some random girl was popping into my photos and crap. Then after awhile, he begins to like her (or even more... LOVE). The two hang out more and blow even more bubbles (hurrah!). Then poor Jeongmin here runs out of bubbles and his dream girl disappears. Jeongminnie, it just isn't your day. So, I have to say, the video is very cute and has a very Christmasy feel to it. I just don't understand what this has to do with their fans as it says in the description. Are they trying to promote the fact that fans should stalk their idols and their idols will fall in love with them? Oh, and, there were pictures on his picture line where it was a picture of him and holding his camera... who the hell took those pictures? Once I get my hands on the lyrics, though, this score will probably go up.

Video Appearance [10/10]

I love it. I absolutely love the whole video appearance. The whole antique, dreamy, lovey dovey feel is fantastic for the upcoming winter season. The clothes in this video are absolutely adorable and very fashionable. I love the sweaters. I love the girl's red scarf that absolutely pops out at me. I love Jeongmin's piercings and rings. And I have to say, Jeongmin really knows how to rock those horizontal stripes. The little kids are absolutely adorable. All their usage of props was great. Those slight Christmas decorations in the beginning with the Christmas tree and lights twinkling in the back. The old polaroid type of camera. I loved it.

Effects (Both Visual and Audio) [7/10]

I really loved how the video has that airy, kind of foggy dream feel to it. The sound effects are pretty cool, too. I absolutely love in the middle of the song where he goes, "Saranghae," and the music pauses. The bells threw me off. Why were there bells? Like really... wedding bells... no. There were also these awkward vignettes around the corners in the video, which tremendously bothered me. However, I do like the fade outs and the whole scene switching. It gives the video that Korean Drama type of feel to it. I love the bubbles and all, but where's my snow? Where's my winter landscape! GAHHHHHHH! Anger. Don't even get me started on the audio effects they use throughout the video. If you listen closely, you'll see they make the audio sound like it's coming from a radio, like Jeongmin is actually listening to it. And then comes the part where he's on the bench and he puts the ear phones in and it becomes all clear. Perfect.

Melody [19/20]

I really did love the melody. It had a nice romantic air to it. The pace of it was nice and very, how do I put this, heart racing. It did really live up to my Christmas expectations. I love the thought of Christmas romance. However, I found that it sounded too much like a cheesy Kdrama OST rather than a Christmas song itself. I absolutely love the combination of Soyou, K.Will, and Jeongmin's vocals. They're just so smooth, clear, and absolutely flawless.

Song Lyrics [14/15]

I don't even know what to say about the lyrics. I find that they fit the plot well, yet I lost the Christmas feel after reading the English lyrics. Although there is like one mentioning of snow, but that's all. It's kind of a romanctic yearning type of song. Like they're yearning to protect the one they love to be with them forever.

Video Fashion [9/10]

I absolutely loved the fashion in this video. They lived up to their Christmas fashion expectations and went beyond it! The whole Christmas sweaters really gave me a warm feeling. I couldn't take my eyes off that girl's scarf, really. His adorable gray blazer and the black and red striped shirt. He was wearing steel toed boots, too! Only Jeongmin could pull that off... But that girl was wearing shorts in the winter. That bothered me to so many extents.

Video English [5/5]

There was no English... really... so... obviously I can't grade this. Five out of five for English! (If there was some!)

Video Atmosphere (in relation to plot and season released) [4/5]

Yes, I believed the atmosphere matched the plot perfectly. Maybe a little bit I think it matched the season. I can see the Christmas sweaters and all the big bulky coats, but where's my snow, man? Even if it's just a little sprinkle at the end. Give me my snow dang it! And that girl, ugh, she's wearing shorts in the winter! WHY STARSHIP? WHY? And the damn fountain was running in the winter! I mean, what fountain does that? It would've like frozen over or something where I'm from, and I'm from the Midwest for god's sake!

Overall, this video/song gets an....... 89 out of 100. Thanks for reading the review!

Also, I'm not a big fan of Huh Ji Won. I heard that she failed a K-Pop Star audition(?) And she's only a star because of her looks. I really don't like that idea. Not that I'm against good looking stars, but they shouldn't be Kpop singers if they're bad... Though, these are only rumors so once I get to know Huh Ji Won more, maybe I'll become a fan. But for now, I hate the idea of promoting good looks over talent, and I feel as though Starship takes on that concept by hiring her to be in the video.
