Antis, what's the point?

Honestly, I don't get antifans.

I knew antis existed, but it wasn't until this morning that I actually found some and what I read both really surprised me and made me sad. Not only was I sad because of what they said, but it also made me sad that people would waste their lives with something so petty as a devotion to hating others they don't even know.

Here's what happened. While doing some background research for my story 'See You Again', I was casually scanning the excerpts under the site hits when something made me stop and stare in disbelief. It was talking about how ugly all the UKiss members were, going as far as to say they were what would happen if you took all the ugly members of Kpop and mashed them together. I couldn't really believe it and clicked on it to find it wasn't just a single entry, but an entire blog with a good number of followers entirely devoted to bashing and tearing down various idols.

In this post, the blogger ranted about how ugly UKiss was, how horrible their music and voices are, that now they were free to date each other and be as gay as they truly were openly, all in much coarser language. The comments added further insults that were even worse than the main part. I'd be sad if it was any other group I liked, but I have an especially soft spot for UKiss. They're such a bunch of goofballs that nonetheless are one of the most vocally talented groups in Kpop in my opinion as well as one of the ones that works the hardest yet gains little recognition. I won't give you the site because I think any response we would give would only feed their fire.

Now, I understand and support the idea that everyone is free to express their opinion and dislike things. I mean, there are groups in Kpop that I don't like and I will openly admit that to anyone who asks me about them. I also know many people view Kpop as shallow and over-commercialized and to a certain extent some aspects of it are very scripted. However, there is a point where I will draw a line.

Under it all, antis aren't just bashing Kpop or even idols. They're insulting people, humans just like them. Kpop idols aren't perfect as some fans want to believe; like I said, they are human and make mistakes, get mad or annoyed, etc. They are just people who are striving to achieve their dreams through their own skill, talent, and hard work, which is more than many people can say.

Why do antis put so much time and effort into hating people they don't know personally and probably never will? Do they have nothing better to do? Why must they spread so much ugliness when there's currently enough pain and hate in the world to last for millennia to come? The best I can come up with is jealousy or spite. Jealousy of others are going after their dreams and succeeding when they themselves have encountered failure or are too afraid to chase what they want. Spite because they delight in tearing down the things other people love in order to make themselves feel better or make others as miserable as them. Either way, I rather than being truly mad, I just pity them.

If you honestly derive pleasure from saying cruel things about others, you must have an empty life. One completely devoid of love. If you have the time and energy to hate another human being who has done nothing against you, how terribly lonely you must be. I pity antis because if they have so much hate inside that it must spill out to taint the world and do so so vehemently, they have lost their humanity. To me, humanity is our ability to be compassionate, sympathetic, and respectful with other people whom we have no connection to to the same or nearly the same degree as those who are dearest to us. It doesn't necessary have to be love, but simple humanity. When you get to that point that you actively seek to hate and hurt, that's when you have lost your humanity. I can only hope it is only deeply buried, retaining it's incredible ability to rise again with all the glory of a phoenix. If it is indeed completely lost, then these antis need our pity even more because although they may be able to live normal lives and be happy, they have lost what makes them truly human and this is one of the greatest tragedies of this world.

I'm sorry for the philosophicalness of this second post, but it seems I'm in that kind of mood.

haters gone hate. i'm not a huge U-Kiss fan but I got pretty pissed reading this. They're hating someone who haven't done anything wrong and put smiles into people's faces. They've got nothing to do with their lives and their hearts are full of hatred that it extends to other people. They should probably hate themselves instead. I also hate other kpop groups but I don't bash them or waste my time bad mouthing a person i personally don't know. that's just stupid and foolish don't you think?

*slaps forehead* People are dumb. Really, really dumb sometimes! There's no point in bashing someone just because you don't like him/her, isn't that so?
