“But Risa!”

Carissa rolls her eyes and tries to shake off the hands on her leg.

“Chen baby, I tell you, I won’t die so easily there. Besides, it’s not like you never go China a lot of times like that,” Carissa whines, trying to get her boyfriend to stand up.

It was quite a sight, considering how we have danseen masheen Kim Jongdae practically cleaning the floors of Changi Airport as he squirmed to keep his hold on his girlfriend.

“Kim Jongdae, if you don’t get up this instant, I will break up with you hor!”

Chen scrambles to his feet. Anything but that, really, anything but a break up because he loves Carissa too much. It brought tears to people’s eyes when he told them how he managed to win over his baby girl’s heart. How his mispronunciation of the three words of affection I love you caused him a curious frown from said girl and his buddy Xiumin to slap him because ohmygoodness I spent hours teaching you three simple words and you can’t even get it.  And yes, it brought tears to people’s eyes because they laughed too hard.

“I’ll miss you k,” Chen sobs again, enveloping Carissa into an extremely tight hug.

“Ok ok enough. You want to go through this all over again is it? I am going to be late—scratch that, I am already late okay. Later my teacher kill me if I miss the flight! And then I will kill you after that!” Carissa chides, trying really hard to wriggle out of Chen’s arms.

Chen doesn’t know if he should tell her that she can’t exactly kill him if she’s dead by her teacher’s hands. He thinks about it for a while and reckons he shouldn’t say anymore stupid things because he wouldn’t want Carissa to become a murderer just before she boards her flight. It would make her a fugitive. At that, Chen’s eyes widen in horror. What if Carissa has to backpack the rest of her life in Nanjing because she’s a fugitive?

“Walao what fugitive? You crazy is it?” Carissa yells, and that’s when Chen realizes that he has been thinking aloud. “I tell you, you better not go crazy and do funny things while I am gone hor!”

Chen smiles, and then pecks Carissa on the cheek. “I promise I won’t la. But I’m worried, what if you get kidnapped there?”

“More like you will get kidnapped can? I also not some big celebrity. You take care while I’m gone hor.”

Chen grins again, because even though Carissa never says it out aloud, she cares for him. While Chen is still happily in his world that Carissa does care for me, Carissa slips out of his arms and heads to the departure gates.

“Bye! See you in ten days!”

Chen sighs. It was going to be an awfully long ten days.
