To all the Hyoyeon fans out there

Dear all the Hyoyeon fans,

To start off guise, I love Hyoyeon. I really do. I think I've had about a month of extreme fangirling for each SNSD member and Hyoyeon is no exception. She's an amazing dancer and deserves more recognition for her talents. I completely agree with that statement. She was underrated in SNSD, and they were holding her talents back (except not really). What really pisses me off though, is that some Hyoyeon fans are complaining about her appearance in Maxstep.

I was scrolling through the Younique tag on Tumblr, because I wanted to find some really nice Maxstep gifs. As I was scrolling through, looking at posts, I was appalled by the amount of complaints to SM entertainment about how little screen time Hyoyeon got. They were all saying that Hyoyeon is already underrated in SNSD and how SM doesn't let her shine. They complain about how Hyoyeon doesn't even get many lines and shares her rap with some of the other guys. They're angry that Hyoyeon doesn't even appear in the video until 2 minutes into the video.

Hyoyeon doesn't have the strongest vocals out there. She can rap, so SM lets her rap. But they wouldn't sacrifice a good song for bad vocals. Think about it this way: if Nastia Lukin was put into a group with Beyonce and Alicia Keys, then they would make it so Beyonce and Alicia Keys sing more than Nastia Lukin. It would make the whole song sound better, and Nastia could do all her gymnastic things in the video to make it more appealing. That's the same logic that SM uses. I'm not saying Hyoyeon isn't talented. She's extremely talented in dancing, which is why SM lets her dance and rap more than sing (remember her dance solo in "Into the New World"?).

SM loves Hyoyeon, and they know a lot of fans love her too. They even announce Hyoyeon's rap/appearance with "This is Specialist HY" and after she appears the camera seemlingly only focuses on her and not any of the guys. She becomes the center of the dance and the rest just move around her. She is the main. She's the only girl, so it's difficult to make her merge into a dance with a bunch of men. It's kind of like how BoA has a bunch of guy background dancers; she stands out, naturally. To add on, I would like people to acknowledge the fact that SM completely excluded f(x) from this subunit. They definitely wanted Hyoyeon to be the only girl so she can stand out. They could've easily added Luna or Victoria, but it wouldn't give the same special quality to Hyoyeon. I mean, it's true Hyoyeon doesn't show up until 2 minutes into the video, but it's definitely for a reason. If she was there from the beginning, then the video would be all about her and the Super Junior, EXO, and SHINee fans would complain that Eunhyuk, Henry, Kai, Luhan, and Taemin "didn't get enough screen time."

People also need to understand that Hyoyeon is part of a hardworking girl group called Girls' Generation. They are an extremely famous group, and when you're that famous, the work is exhausting. SNSD just released an album and music video in Japanese. How do you expect her to learn all the songs and dances for SNSD (in a language that isn't her native tongue), record and perfect them, film a music video, and be part of another subunit with it's own song, dance, and music video? She's only human. SM probably just doesn't want to overwork her until she faints and dies(all the idols get overworked enough).

I'm not bashing on anyone. I'm just trying to let people see the other side to things and tell everyone my opinion. Of course, there are some other points people make that I could agree with, but SM, the company, is created by people, and people aren't perfect.

With much love,

dsiredream

(P.S. I didn't edit or reread this, so if it's confusing, doesn't flow well, or if there are mistakes/typos, I'm sorry >.< Also, sorry if the emphasized words are distracting... I just thought they needed to be emphasized more...)
