Kim Shaneul is the type of girl that people enjoy to be around with, as she has a sense of humour which could light up any dull, dreary day. Behind her shy appearance, she is truly outgoing and is always proud in her works - sometimes conceited, even. Regardless of what she does, there is always enthusiasm that overflows from her, and that's the reason why most people enjoy working with Shaneul. Mark my words - when I say most, I mean it. Despite being the happy, carefree girl who everyone loves, there are a few people who despises Shaneul. It's true that she's bubbly and has a superb personality, but there are certain moments when she refuses to break the awkward barrier between her and others, causing them to misunderstand and hate her. Hatred isn't something that she wants, but it comes without warning.

Shaneul carries many insecurites inside of her, and feels the need to flee from the public eye whenever these thoughts cross over her mind. It's not something that she can control - she feels as though everybody is judging her, watching her every move. With every mistake that she makes, she feels as though it's something much more major, and later hates herself for it. The pressure builds on, but she hides this pain with a bright smile to prevent suspicion from others.

Despite being 19 years old with a mature body, she never fails to act like a child from elementary school. She is always doing something, and you would never find her sitting around free from activity. Whether it's sports, recreational activities, art, or dance practice, there is always something new for her today. Shaneul's life motto is "Never give up, never give in" because she believes that if one puts enough effort into what they do, they would end up succeeding and reaching their final goal. This proves to show that she's a hardworking person, who is able to differentiate work from play. Even though she'd be mucking around and having fun during her breaks and spare moments, she's serious and stern while working.

Kim Shaneul was more than that - she started off as an ordinary schoolgirl from Busan, who had a deep passion for the performing arts. Everyday, she would travel to school in a bus, with earphones plugged in and she would casually hum along or sing snippets of the song. Day by day, it would be the same boring trip with the same people.  Boring, boring, boring. Her family owned a small cafe at the corner of the biggest shopping chain in the area, and they were famous for the delicious caramel machiatos which they brewed on the spot. The Kims weren't poor, but they weren't "billionaire" rich either.

So as I was saying, Shaneul had been travelling to school one day when something new caught her eye. Something glossy, something pink - something royal. The large pink poster stuck on the bus stop's pole read, "Royal Entertainment will be holding auditions here soon, please apply now!" The moment she saw this, she knew that she had to do it. It was the only way that she could express her love for music, and give back to the society which had given her so much more than she had asked for. A while back, she had auditioned for Woollim entertainment and was accepted as a trainee for their new girl group. The only trouble was that her anxiety and insecurity caused her to drop out. Now that everything was behind her, she wanted to give it one more shot, and not back out this time. She had something to prove to the world, and she would do it no matter what it takes.

Despite the awkwardness that created a barrier between the parent and child, they took great care of each other and her dad would often encourage her to do what she's good at. He never pressurises her, and would praise her for every good deed she does. 

Mother : Kim Minji (Maiden name: Nam Minji) | 52 | Owner of a coffee shop | Shaneul was really close with her mum, as if they were best friends. They would share all secrets, and Shaneul would be able to speak her mind in front of her mind. However, her mother did not approve of idols and the fact that she wanted to audition for a company. After the audition, they began to grow apart from each other.

Brother : Kim Youngwon | 14 | Elementary school student | Despite the fact that Youngwon was a pesky little brother who enjoyed pestering his older sister with useless questions, they loved each other to bits. Day after day, Shaneul would come home from school with treats for her little brother, as a way of encouraging him in his studies.

Shaneul has no sister.

Background Story : As mentioned in Shaneul's background, her family runs a small coffee shop in Busan that is famous for it's delicious drinks that filled the small room with a beautiful aroma. They lived in a small house, just big enough to fit the four family members - which is probably one of the reasons why they were so close. The family members rarely travelled, as they were always busy with errands for their cafe, and hiring an employee would cost too much for them to afford. From the profits made in the shop, they were able to open two more branches in Seoul and Hongdae. Their love for each other is great, and there aren't any signs of them falling apart - well, just yet. Years before, her father had been caught cheating with another woman, which sent the family into chaos. However, he was given a second chance and the family returned to normal. Whether if those actions will be repeated are still unknown.

Bestfriend (1) : Kim Myungsoo | Work: Idol (Infinite) | Together always | They met during Shaneul's trainee years at Woollim entertainment, and they had been close friends since. They would often meet up at the mall or at coffeee shops to catch up with each other. People would often mistake them as lovers.

Bestfriend (2) : Hana Lee | School: University | Too busy to meet | Hana was an exchange student from America, who ended up staying in the country after developing a strong friendship with Shaneul. They would occassionally meet up for a shopping spree or would call each other every now and then, as Hana's busy with her courses.

3. Lee Taemin | Work: Idol (SHINee) | Always seen together | Taemin is a close frend, and also dance teacher, of Shaneul. They would meet at the dance studio and practice for hours without end, learning new choreographies.

Why him? : They share the same interests - singing, "dancing like idiots", cooking, and the colour red. Their personalities match well, even though conflicts cannot be avoided once in a while. 

Love story : After meeting each other during Shaneul's trainee days at Woollim entertainment, they became closer. They would have vocal training together everyday, and then go out for meals. Shopping trips and going to movies were nothing out of the usual. When they're with each other, they revealed their inner dorks and acted like the biggest idiots on the planet. When Shaneul decided to leave the company, Woohyun was completely flustered and he gained a new feeling which he had never gotten before - heartbreak. Now that they meet again, Woohyun would never let this new opportunity slip from his grasp.
