AFF drama?

So to start with, I've been a member of this site for not so long, and I'm not often online. Though, these days, I've read people's blogs saying how they want to leave AFF because of the mess, drama whatever. And I don't know really know what's happening O.o
Can someone tell me what is exactly going on here?

I hope you don't mind me commenting ^^

People are leaving AFF because of the so called 'drastic changes to the site' I mean I hate to say it but every site they go on including Fanfiction.Net, LiveJouranl etc all go through changes :shrugs:

I love this site no matter what happens wheather it crashes or not I feel like I can be more of myself here.

Again hope you don't mind me commenting...to me it gets annoying when people say 'I think I'm finally leaving AFF' over and over again and some end up staying in the end -__-

Oh and this is the overall comment of the creator (Jason) about 'AFF being not the same again'

Oh right there is another thing.
I think one of the authors were being extremely rude to other author. And the whole drama between them, their readers, supporters, and friends just exploded. You can read that more in this blog.

I think the said author already apologized, but I haven't found it yet and don't really bother to look it up.
I feel like an entertainment news reported now.
By the way I'm not a stalker. All of this information I randomly found when I was bored and looked up at the blog list section.
It's amazing how much stuff you can found there just for 30 minutes.

So, basically that. Some decided to just move to other sites like Live Journal.
I also have a LJ account, but I'm still active here. I don't know the others' reason but this is mine (http://www.asianfanfics.com/blog/view/324997)
And I also write about why people should not care about the main page. This is my view by the way, probably some people still think this way. (http://www.asianfanfics.com/blog/view/329069)

Well, based on my observation, the chronology is pretty long.
So basically, we all know about the featured stories right? There has been on going debate here and there saying that the karma system (in which authors who have a lot of karma and subscribers can be featured) is unfair. A lot were not happy because many of the featured stories are not the best ones and a lot felt that a lot featured stories do not deserve to get featured at all. (basically saying that the ones got featured based on popularity not on quality). That is the spark.
Recently (around a week or less) there is this advertising feature. In which we bid using our karma to promote any links (fanfics, websites, blogs anything). I view this as a good thing (it can help promote websites to gain money and all that) but then people who bid, mostly advertised their stories here. And most that promote are people that have a lot of karma (say 5k or more). The ad feature basically getting the rich richer. Only the ones that have massive karma can bid and even if they lost a lot, they still gain a lot more because they will gain more subscribers.
After that because the featured system seems a bit unfair since it all based in statistics, the system changed. So now people have to VOTE for stories to get featured.
Other than that, there is this limit of commenting should not be less than 30 characters and also authors can downvote a comment (basically dislike it and it reduced the commentator's karma by one point). This I think is good, since it will prevent spam.
But everything went crazy since authors now desperate to get people to vote for their stories. Some even beg and bribed. Some popular authors that have karma used the promoting feature to help people vote for the story.
Basically nowadays people become overly centric with getting on to the main page, instead of just writing.
That's the chronology. You can figure it out yourself on why they are disappointed, I don't want to assume things.
