Taming A Dragon Universe explanations

So i know i have mentioned postions in the village and all. I honestly dont think i will ever get around to explaining them in the story. (especially Dara and Chaerin's positions), so i've decided to write a blog with this information. As i delve deeper into the Universe, I'll dump my findings here. :)

Tamers:  This will be explained more in depth later in the story. (Probably chapter 2 or 3) But i'll go ahead and put it here. Tamers, are literally that. Dragons are incredibly in touch with emotions, their emotions, other dragons emotions, and emotions of nature. Maybe they are too in touch with it. This is why you never piss off a dragon. They wont think twice about frying your . But at the same time, they can be the best and most romantic lovers ever. But when a Dragon goes too deep into grief or anger, the "loose their sense" and become beasts. A good Tamer can calm a Dragon and pull it from its Sorrow. If a Dragon is too lost and has become in every sense "just a beast", a Slayer is brought in.

Slayers: This will be explain more in depth later in the story. (not sure when). Slayers, are literally that. When a dragon cannot be Tamed and every effort has been brought forth to return a Dragon to its rightful sense, a Slayer is called in to kill the dragon and give it an honorable death. A swift and clean kill is required and expected. Slayers do not go for a kill unless they know for certain they can kill the dragon in one strike. Once the dragon is dead, Slayers hand the body of the slayed Dragon over to the other Dragons who will then dispose of the body in a way only they know.

Hunters: This will be explained more in depth later in the story. (not sure when). Hunters are literally that. Usually traveling in groups. They hunt dragons for sport. Its a game to them. The leader of a group of Hunters is usually the one with the most kills to boast about. When a Hunter kills a dragon, they then mutilate the body, stealing scales and teeth and claws from the dragon's body. Some of the more gruesome clans will use the entirety of the dragon's body for food, medicine, armor, and jewelry. Due to the fact they prey on the most powerful creatures alive, they tend to not stay in one place for long periods of time. That just makes them sitting ducks.

Why do Tamers and Slayers exist?  Dragons are connected to each other mentally. And like stated before, they are VERY in touch with their emotions and the emotions of their brethen. When one dragon goes mad, if other dragons are close enough, they will sense this and there's a good chance they will go mad themselves. The story of how Tamers came into existance will be explained in the story. But lets just say there was a long war between mad dragons and humans fighting to live. Imagine a land filled with dragons who have turned from the intelligent, wise creatures they are, to nothing more than raging beasts. I wouldnt wanna live there, would you? Tamers and Slayer exist to keep this from happening. Because they value the lives of each dragon A TAMER IS ALWAYS SENT FIRST BEFORE A SLAYER IS SENT. The Death of a Dragon is always a sorrowful thing.

LoreMaster: I touched upon this in both TAD and OTAH. I'll expand more here. In a village, there are usually two LoreMasters. One who is a Master, and one who is an apprentace. Tablo is the Master for this village and Dara is his apprentace. LoreMasters are like ambassadors between Dragons and Humans. They are bonded with a dragon from the moment the dragon hatches. Once this happens, the apprentace is shuttled back and forth between the humans and the dragons where they are taught all of the wisdom the dragons know. Of the stories and lore of the dragons and of the humans. They keep the peace between the two races. They also gather information on dragons who have possibly gone mad and convey the informations to the Dragons. When Dragons have confirmed a brethen of theirs has gone mad, they inform the LoreMaster who in turn, sends out a Tamer to try and Tame the dragon.

CareTaker: I touched upon this in both TAD and OTAH. I'll expand more here. Villages can have numerous Caretakers. It depends on how many Dragons are in the care of the village and how large the village is. At the least, there are two Caretakers. Every LoreMaster's dragon is assigned a Caretaker. Their job is an honorable one. They pretty much care for the dragon, nurse it when its sick or injured, help in its training, generally be a doctor and teacher to the Dragon. Chaerin is assigned to Dara's Dragon. Dongwook is assigned to Tablo's Dragon. Sometimes Dragons get injured during a Taming, or they have been tamed, but were beasts for so long, they have trouble fully returning to their senses. Caretakers also care for these dragons, nursing them to full strength until they are ready to return the wild. Many people flock to be Caretakers, but only a select handful are given the task. How? Caretakers can communicate with Dragons without being bonded to a dragon. If one does not have this gift, they cannot be trained in the ways of a caretaker. Once a human has been discovered to have the gift of dragon-speaking, they are sent away to live with the dragons to complete their training.

Why all the diffrent positions? I've mentioned Dragon Riders before. Dragon Riders were all of these things in one. But it was too much power. The Dragon Riders destroyed themselves when they became to greedy for power. Their fall started the madness of the dragons. The Different positions keep the balance of power from being too much and giving anyone the temptation to gather more.

Magick? Magick DOES exist in this universe. Its rather common for people of all positions to use magick. The spells one would use would depend on the job one has. Tamers and Slayers both use magicks that could immobolize and calm one enough to either show them sense, or slay them in one clean strike. Slayers also know spells to kill in one strike. Tamers and CareTakers know healing magicks. LoreMasters tend to study magicks that interest them.
