Korean Greetings

So i went to the mail box with my sister and on my way back we passed these older women who were sitting outside.

So they greeted us and said hello and my reaction?

I BOWED.

They weren't even korean!!!!

Im feeling weird afterwards...idk how to feel.

Has anyone shared the same experience or is it just me????

I think I have, sort of. In my culture, you just cross your arms and greet the person. You don't really have to bend over very far or bow or anything like that. However, after getting into Korean customs, I bow really low, so it looks like I'm a bobo doll when I'm greeting like 10 relatives in the room. They laugh and are like "Oh, she's so respectful" So I'm guessing it was a custom in the past to bow like that, but it wore off? Idk, I always feel weird when I do that. haha

WA! That really happened? Well since they were old then maybe they though you were really polite.

And nope, don't think I've experienced it....yet
