What color am I?
Purple or Beige
I read this blog and the author says, "Nobody should write this way," in reference to purple prose, a style that uses flowery/elaborate/fancy descriptions. He did raise some good points since overly written descriptions tend to bog the readers down and the message the writer wants to deliver gets lost in all the adjectives, metaphors, adverbs, etc.
It is obvious that he prefers Ernest Hemmingway's style of writing, "The Theory of Omission" and what we now know as beige prose. It is straightforward, using only a few but appropriate words to show the story.
As a reader, both styles serve their purpose if clarity is achieved. If done right, purple prose can be fun to read just like in fantasy novels.
There should be a balance in showing and telling. You choose: a) Show and Tell b) Show, than Tell c) Show, don't Tell

However, I can't seem to decide the color of my writing. It's definitely not purple, perhaps closer to beige, but still faaaaaarrrrrr from beige. LOL. Ah. My readers can help. What color is Keeper?
I think I have my own color, not purple nor beige. Blue-green? LOLOLOL.
