My Fan Account of the 2012 APAHM Tour ft. Jay Park & Others

(This show also featured Viennie V & Dumbfounded & I won't be talking about them here. If you'd like me to tell you what I thought of them, feel free to send me a message.)

Since my friend & I couldn't get tickets to the MBC Google Concert for this evening (I'm from the East Coast & we planned to take the trip to Cali for it), I decided to go to this show instead.

I arrived at the Best Buy Theater at about 3:30PM. In fangirl time, that's way too late, but as long as I had a ticket, I was allowed in. The doors opened at 5:30PM. To keep myself occupied, I bought something from Starbucks beforehand and read a book (yeah, I'm a bookworm...) all while texting a friend. Oh! About the line. It circled from the entrance to the theater on 44th Street, onto Broadway, then all along 45th Street. I ended up being on the first third of the block on 45th Street. This line may not sound long, but the blocks in New York are really really long. I think I forgot to mention.. I was standing all this time D: (That was okay since I'm used to standing at work for about 7 hours at a time.)

Before we were allowed in, our bags were checked for food and drink. Those with large purses and backpacks had to check it into bag check for $3. After that, people were free to use the restroom and enter the theater. I knew this venue was going to be tiny. Since it was General Admission, that means it was standing only if you wanted to be close to the stage. There were built-in seats at the back of the theater, but most ppl opted to stand in the floor area near the stage and the mezzanine. I was situated in the middle of the floor area about 20 feet form the middle of the stage.

The show started promptly at 7PM, with a small stand-up act by a comedian whose name I could not make out. Then Viennie V and Dumbfounded had their sets. Jay Park didn't appear until about 9PM, and I felt that the fangirls crowd was really antsy during some part of the previous sets.

After the intermission, that was when he was onstage! He started it off with Know Your Name. Instead of his usual 4 backup dancers, he had only two, and he had one of the girls from his KYN promotions in Korea dance the partner part. So much energy! As soon as he came out, everyone pushed for the front of the stage! Off the top of my head, he also performed Star, Up & Down & Clap from New Breed Part 1; Body2Body, Be with Me 2Night, and Do What We Do ft Dumbfounded from his mixtape; and Count on Me. I'm sure there were more, but I can't remember at the moment. He had shades on after KYN, but he took them off afterwards. Then he took off his jacket after a few more songs, revealing his wifebeater! I remember I was recording one of his songs afterwards, put my camera away cuz my arm got tired, then HE FLASHED HIS ABS! I was upset I didn't get to record it (lmao), but at least I got to see his abs in the flesh haha. Ok, I'm getting distracted... Oh! His fan interaction was awesome! At some points, he sang parts of his songs acapella & IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Also, I think he's very down to earth. At one point, he was trying really hard to catch his breath that he literally sat on the edge of the stage just to tell us the story of the caterpillar & the butterfly. He really did tell us at the end of it that the moral of the story was to give him a chance to catch his breath. Such a cutie. Whenever he drank from his bottle of water, it was as if he was recording a water bottle CF. The cameras didn't come down at all even when he was doing that! After his b-boying stage with two members from AOM, he came out with a NY fitted. Then the crowd started chanting "Take it off! Take it off!" He was like, "What do you want me to do? Why do you want me to take my hat off?" lol Then he proceeded to take his fitted on and off his head. We all know what we wanted him to do take off his wifebeater. ;)

Really, all this fangirling aside, Jay Park is a great performer: he sings, dances, acts, and writes. Multiplayer right there. This is actually my second time seeing him live. The first time was when he attended RU's projectKOREA in NJ back in 2010. You guys remember that, right? That time period? Yeah, this was some time after his departure from 2PM and before his solo debut in Korea. I'm really happy Jay still performed that night amidst everything that was happening to him at that time. I think he definitely grew up a lot in the three years since the incident, and ultimately, he's doing what he wants to do.

(I would have added my fan account of him at the meet & greet... if I went. I was planning to go, but it was raining. Definitely wasn't gonna stand in the rain alone for hours this time around, but then I ended up covering for someone at work, so I couldn't go anyway. Next time, tho!)

If you guys have anything to ask me about the show (I'm pretty sure I missed a bunch since I'm watching the MBC Google Concert  as I'm typing this lol), don't be afraid to ask!
