2nd Female lead

WHAT About the 2nd Female lead....?

Like the 2nd male, the 2nd female leads are what makes the Kdrama dynamic. In kdrama the presence of the those 2 are almost paramount in the workings for the ensemble cast and storyline, cause nothing says or shows more drama than a Love square, right..? these 2 are the essence that makes kdrama more dramatic therefore more interesting.

actually their presence isnt limited to Korean drama, they are present in "gossip girl's Vanessa-Dan-Serena-Nathan dynamic", "autumn concerto's touye-mucheng-gungxi-yiqian dynamic" and etc. Frankly these 2 roles, the 2nd male and female leads, are the "push and pull" that makes the love line of the main leads more sweeter, more personal, and more endearing --- that makes you root for them and love them.

anyway enough about the foursome dynamic. what i really wanna write about are the 2nd female leads.

when i think back of 2nd female leads, i breath for a second and then after a minute little shivers run up to my spine, then darkness looms at the corner of my brain. and after 5 more minutes a scream just losses its way from my mouth, "YOU B****..!!!"

why is that...?

Like the article I read at "Uprising of the Second Male Leads" quoted, that the 2nd male leads are "the perfect guy for the heroine who always protects her (female lead), takes care of her, loves her", so ultimately they are the chivalrous knights that is a lady's savior.

Opposite him, the 2nd female leads are always the unlikable, and more likely hated person of the drama.

In recent popular drama's like Boys over flowers we were introduced to Ha Jae Kyung who  was Jun Pyo's arranged fiancee but later chooses not to marry Jun Pyo so he can be with Jan Di so i cant say anything bad about her cause this one she was a real angel in the end.

But one of those 2nd female leads that just stick as EVIL is Yoo He Yi, the two faced idol who was who made minam's life quite difficult. Even as UEE i seem to feel hatred at some level, so i guess i confess that she is a good actress to make me hate her this much.

in today's drama, one of the popular one and the ones i watch are SS, MGIAG an PK.

and in these drama's we are intoduced to Seo Hyo Rim who plays Ha Hyo Eun Shewho is the daughter of a prominent government minister and is engaged to Lee Sun Joon. Hyo Eun will be competing with Kim Yoo Hee for Lee Sun Joon's love.[cr: sangkyukwang scabdal soompi thread]

then we also have Park Su Jin playing as Eun Hye In who due to her fragile appearance and vibes of being a good wife and mother, Eun Hye In is an aspiring newcomer of a large agency. Although Dae Woong falls for her at first sight, she doesn't shows her interest in him until Mi Ho's appearance revoked her anger that Dae Woong's attention is drawn to another woman. [cr: my girlfriend is gumiho soompi thread]

and last but not the least we have lee si young playing as yoon Hea-ra who is like the female version of seungjo, smart beauftiful , rich and always the best in everything she does. she is the person that looks down on Hani for him being clumsy and her Silly but endearing Love for SeungJo.

Hea-ra is the rival that does everything elegantly. as far as ep7 & 8 are done, she has already made her inclinations clear she wants seungJO and Hani is her rival. and as far as Hani's concerned at the end of episode 9, HR is at a more good standing in the 'getting seungJo's attention' than her so we were left with a slightly sad Hani..

and ep 9 is really just around the corner...

as i try to dissect all the roles of the 2nd female leads together. It dawned on me that although the 2nd male leads are like knights while  the rival female leads are like witches. cause as it turnes out the rival female are conniving es, that lie, cheat, use unsavory means just to get him (the male lead). Urghhh..!!! there really is something wrong with that storyline, dont you think..?

an that lead me to think, usually drama are mirrors of life, For me. so i keep asking myself, why are almost all drama's making the rival female downright unforgivable, unlikable and just plain Mean.

why..?
