Will is everyone’s favourite spunky rocker girl. She’s that girl who is always found with her headphones in, head bobbing, lip synching and sketching – all at once. She is a slight oddity to others because of how she acts. She had only recently moved to Korea so she isn’t familiar with the Korean culture and habitudes yet. She will often be caught drawing on everything – her arms, the tables, papers, her binder, in books, and if you look at her wall in her part of the room, it’s covered in doodles and drawings.

Will grew up under her mother’s artistic influence and fell in love with painting and sketching on their family trip to Italy when she was seven years old. She admired the landscapes and the beauty of the country. She particularly noticed how beautifully her mother drew and from then wanted to be just like her. She is exceptional in drawing which has given her a knack for creating. She has a wild imagination that has thought up of some of the strangest of things. Of course she admires people like Salvador Dali and Michelangelo but the artist she felt she could relate to the most was Da Vinci. Like Da Vinci, Will always had the tendency to not finish her works completely. She would be given a huge assignment and for whatever reason it was, she just never was able to finish them. She had the ability, and if left in solitude, she’d be able to complete a painting. Sketching is no problem for her. She could easily finish a sketch because she loves working with pencil and just drawing – she’ll do it unconsciously even. Painting on the other hand takes a whole lot of effort and attention that she can’t seem to commit to.

Will’s attention span is limited. She gets distracted by every single thing whether it’s a butterfly that’s just fluttering by or a piece of dropping paper. When she sees a familiar painting – and believe me, she knows just about all of them – she will say the title and artist out loud. If it’s by Dali, Michelangelo or Da Vinci she’ll remember the date it was painted. Her appreciation for art is beyond one’s understanding and she gets extremely irritated when people mock art. Also people who pretend that they are interested in art and act as if they are very knowledgeable in art are nuisances to her. She grew up loving art and dreaming to become an artist so seeing art being ridiculed like that is like ridiculing her dream.

At a young age, around age five when she just started school, she was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Due to this condition, she has difficulty in focusing on one task, gets distracted easily, she forgets things easily, and frequently switches back and forth between activities. Academics wise, she isn’t all that great because of her ADHD which causes her to concentrate and organize her assignments. She always loses things needed for assignments and she in general just can never get them in on time completed. She has difficulty listening to someone when they’re talking to her and daydreams a lot – she also gets easily confused with all the things going on around her, she can’t get a grasp of one single thing at a time. She has difficulty in processing information and taking instructions as accurately as others. Really, she gets bored much too easily unless she is doing something she enjoys. She has trouble sitting still and it’s probably why she draws on everything because she always needs to be in motion – needless to say, reading isn’t her thing unless it’s some sort of Art History or Art related book.

Having ADHD has caused many difficulties in Will’s life and has rendered her pretty much useless in any school related field except sports and art. She is capable of doing sports, and loves to run around but again, there are too many rules and she just can’t follow all of them. She is easily irritated and has difficulty controlling what she says – something they put on her rap sheet as a symptom when they were diagnosing her for ADHD. Something that has served some good though is her butting in. She has a habit of interrupting and intruding on conversations which has helped when solving a crisis. They say that some kids with ADHD come out as gifted. See, that’s absolutely not the case with Will, but she does have a strange ability to be able to solve some of the most heated disputes. ADHD – despite the many symptoms – has fortunately on affected her work life rather than her social life and the rest of her life. Art actually helped her a lot when she had to go to counselling where they had to find her something that she could focus on.

She is a little too used to being in Australia and has difficulty in adapting to the weather changes in Korea. She likes being able to go out in shorts and t-shirts all the time. Will is often found speaking in her heavily accented English. Most people don’t understand anything she’s saying because she is more used to the whole English speaking situation. She uses a lot of Australian slang like ‘mate’ ‘g’day’ ‘fairdinkum’ or ‘tosser’ which has people wondering all the time at their meanings. So the language barrier is pretty severe since her Korean is fine, but will start spouting English mid-sentence – her English is great but her accent just adds to the barrier. Her naturally blonde hair and golden skin makes her stand out somewhat and it doesn’t help that she’s really tall and even wears heals sometimes. Her look makes her easy to identify and her heavy eye make-up and use of different shades of red in her lipstick is from her art skills. She has a very artsy look – as preps like to call it – and she doesn’t mind because it just makes her feel that much better about her talents – what a hipster being all artsy fartsy and whatnot, right?

Growing up with minimal conflict in her life asides from her parents’ divorce and her father not accepting her dream to become an artist, Will doesn’t like problems. She never had deal with anything difficult personally – except her ADHD but she doesn’t consider that a problem since it has become one with her personality – and finds it annoying to be in the midst of drama. The problem is that she is a generally really likeable person and so she has too many friends who get into too much drama. Of course there are only a select few she gives a damn about, she tries to get along with everyone in order for her to keep out of any trouble – it is obviously back firing on her. When the time comes though that she is brought into the middle of it all – this usually only happens between her best friends – she is usually the one to solve it. She holds up the pillars to their friendship and doesn’t mind listening to them go off. They know to go to her after she has taken her meds so that she can focus.

Just looking at her, you could tell she’s the rocker girl type. She has the wild hair, the fishnets, the tattered clothing, the band shirts and all that stuff that would just make you classify her as the stereotypical band junky. Don’t get me wrong, she is in love with Kurt Cobain, Steven Tyler, Jimi Hendrix and Anthony Kiedis, but it doesn’t mean she’s some sort of groupie. If you flipped through her iPod, you’d see it’s nothing but classic rock, hard rock, soft rock, ALL Rock! Okay, that’s a lie, the only artists that she has that aren’t rock are Lights, Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx. She also loves Soundtracks by Hanz Zimmer.

She isn’t exactly the most gentle spirit out there, alright? And believe me, there have been many times when everyone has questioned her gender. Will eats like a man, puts her feet up on everything and just doesn’t give a crap about how people see her. Her demeanour is kind of rough and it’s a wonder how she gets boyfriends when she’s clearly like a boy herself. She sometimes doesn’t get why people tell her she’s manly because she has always been like this. She’s like some sort of alien with ten stomachs. This girl can eat and eat and eat, and maybe she’s still fit because she hits the gym with her friends whenever they invite her – sometimes she’ll just tag along for the hell of it – and boy does she ever work those exercise equipment. She sees one that interests her and doesn’t even finish her planned reps and goes to do a different thing. They say that artists are like tanks, and there is no logic behind it but she seems to demonstrate this. She likes to eat with her hands, she likes to walk around bare foot in boxers and a wife beater, she likes to just sketch while she watches some hardcore superhero movies and cartoons.

If you were to get back onto the topic of art, Will can be found drawing cartoons a lot of the time. She does really strange portrait drawings of iconic people in Rock, or creates superheroes and really draws just about everything. She really loves looking at portraits and learning from looking at paintings that artists such as Da Vinci and Michelangelo have done but also loves surrealism – one of her favourite art movements was surrealism – and admires Dali and Rene Magritte for their works. She absolutely hates modern art. Modern art as in ‘This triangle represents society’s indifference for creativity and really captures the essence of how today’s people all want to be equal and become robots for the big companies.’ That’s a load of crap. All she sees is a black triangle on a white canvas. That’s not art, that’s geometry. Abstract isn’t her thing either. Some of it looks cool, but really, splatters of paint across a dark canvas can be done by a baby with diarrhea and no diaper. She really wasn’t too big on Picasso and though she liked some of his works and his attention to detail, she just didn’t find it appealing to the eye.

She isn’t bad at cooking – if you love to eat, you should know how to cook – and actually makes one mean plate of pasta. She is always willing to cook if she’s asked and usually makes surplus so she can share with the boys at school the next day – the boys will be described in the friends section. She always seems to have her headphones in or on her. She’ll be at the grocery store, walking around with her trolley – unless you call it a shopping cart… – bobbing her head and lip synching to whatever song she’s listening to. The thing about Will is that she’s so in love with Rock that she picked up guitar just for the sake of being able to play her songs. She’s no musical student, but she knows enough to play her favourite songs. She’ll get bored if you try to tell her to play something she doesn’t want to and hell, she’ll even get bored if you tell her to create her own song, so her interest in music only really goes that far.

She is so disorganized it isn’t even funny how messy her living space is. It was already stated earlier that she loses things easily which just adds to all the confusion. She doesn’t even bother with the whole organizing thing anymore because she knows she just can’t be put together like that. It’s not her. You wouldn’t think so since her art supplies are kept so well, and her writing looks so neat and pretty that you’d think she’s so collected, but that stuff just comes with being an artist. It doesn’t make her any more organized than she already isn’t.

Her temper gets the best of her and she’s always yelling at people when she’s angry. She’s a strong girl and you really don’t want to mess with her. She’ll flip tables and go ape on everyone. You’d have to call in her sister Terry to save the day or the boys. Individually, her boys can’t save anyone from her wrath but as a group they can. If all else fails and you can’t get a hold of Terry, you’ll have to give her a lollipop and she’ll settle down slightly.

Will was born and grew up in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She lived an above average life with her father bringing in the money and well, her mother doing her share. They were a family of five and that’s not usually easy to manage but they managed. At a very young age, she has been jittery and was always talking. At age five, she was officially diagnosed with ADHD. She went through counselling and check-ups every single day to update her medication and keep her in line so she didn’t get too bad.

When she was seven, their whole family took a trip to Italy where she watched her mother sketch and paint landscapes of Italian scenery. From then she fell in love with Italy, drawing and painting. She tried other fields of art like sculpting which she was decent at but because she didn’t find real interest in it couldn’t focus on it.

Will was always getting into trouble in school because she went through a phase in her life where she wanted her father’s attention and didn’t take her meds and couldn’t focus in school, nor could she sit still or stop talking. When they finally called her parents in, she got attention alright, attentions she didn’t want when he threw her art bag at her and told her to leave if she continued on her silly dream. Of course her mother flipped out at what he said and told him to leave. It was then that their marriage started deteriorating.

Will had always felt that it was her fault that her parents divorced since it started with her. But sooner or later it was bound to happen. When she was around twelve years old, her oldest sister, Nikita, was and left to die in an alley by their home. The rapists were caught and turned out to be a group of boys in Nikita’s grade who were drunk out of their right minds. Because of Nikita’s admittance into the hospital, the family was in a wreck. There wasn’t an extra helping hand around and it seemed as if the fights between the parents increased each day. Nine months later, Nikita gave birth to two lovely twins but by that time, her parents had already divorced.

It was around a year after the birth of the twins that Will had decided she wanted to move out of Australia and to an arts school. Of course there were plenty of arts schools to go to – she was actually attending one at the time – but she wanted to experience the world. They couldn’t afford to send her to Italy – of course that’s where she wanted to go – so instead she thought it through thoroughly and decided to go to Korea. She had realized that maybe it was better that way financially too. With two extra kids at the house, it was difficult to manage the finances.

Although he didn’t show it, her father had wanted at least one of his daughters to take his side and join him in Korea. He had wished that they’d see past his tough love exterior and see that he only wanted the best for his little girls. He was actually very much in love with his wife and she was the only one he ever really opened up to but their marriage was falling apart and maybe it was for the best for them to separate.

In the end, it was decided that Will and her sisters Mel and Terry would move to Korea and live with their father. Will was only sixteen at the time, Terry was seventeen and Mel was twenty. Mel had already gone to go become a stylist for YG Entertainment and Terry and Will had yet to figure out their own situation. They lived with their father for a while but Will couldn’t take it anymore. She felt like he was so controlling over everything she did, everything she wore, everything she listened to, and she just couldn’t handle it. So when her best friends suggested living together, she didn’t hesitate to agree.

She refused financial help from her father and said she’d apply the lesson he taught her that she could always remember. You have to earn what you want. So she got herself a job at the art supplies shop near their school. She started off accepting a bit of money so she could pay her share but soon she stopped and of course there was some pride that her father felt knowing she had learned from him.

Arriving in Korea and going to a school where no one could understand you properly was tough stuff. Will was just fortunate enough to have made friends with a group of boys. When she first met them, they were all blonde. Every single one of them, and so she thought they were English and spoke to them in English – Australian if you’d prefer to call this strangely accented English. Of course they didn’t understand a thing and said brokenly ‘You…speak…Korean?’ and from there they became friends. They took her around the school and treated her like part of the gang so she never felt like an oddball like she did back in Melbourne where they thought she was weird for carrying medication with her and dressing differently. She was forced to wear school uniform but that didn’t change the fact that she wore her fishnets, some combat boots – they said they wanted black shoes, never specified – and her band pins on her uniform shirt. She fit right in with the boys since she was naturally blonde and the headmaster often told them to change their hair colour no matter how many times she told him that it was her natural colour.

Not too long after, she met a girl. This girl was her partner for a project and she visited her home and the girl treated her nicely and was so very sweet to her that they couldn’t help but to become friends. It was from her that Will got to meet the other girls and that’s how they finished their circle of friends, with Will coming in finally.

`She has her bellybutton pierced, her left ear has an industrial and a helix piercing, her right ear has a rook piercing and a helix piercing as well. Both ears have their second piercings. She has her nose pierced as well.

`She actually has short hair but she wears hair extensions whenever she just feels like having long hair in which case she likes to braid it

`She can play just about all the Red Hot Chili Peppers songs on the guitar – she’s no John Frusciante or Josh Klinghoffer but she’s pretty alright

`In the center of the wall she is entitled to in the room she shares with her friend at the apartment, she has a painting she did of Kurt Cobain with doodles on the wall around it because well…she loves Kurt Cobain and it’s kind of her small tribute to him. As for the doodles…she just likes to draw on the wall.

Father – Seo Junyoung, 45, Doctor at Seoul National University Hospital

Junyoung is a very talented doctor and a very strict man. He is very no nonsense and that aspect of him is probably what tore his marriage apart with a woman who he was deeply in love with. He is almost the exact opposite of his ex-wife. He is stern, shows little to know emotions except anger and frustration. Because of his more conservative and solemn demeanour, he and the women in his family don’t get along. When the divorce came around, the kids chose to stay with their mother. Despite the fact that he seems really uncaring of everything except work, he genuinely does love his family and felt really hurt that none of the girls chose to go with him to Korea. He – contrary to the girls’ mother – was very focused on teaching his children the importance of working hard to earn what you want and was actually a great parent in terms of teaching his kids right from wrong. In terms of how calm he is, he isn’t. Around his patients he puts on the face of the suave doctor with a small smile – if any – and is always calm in all situations. At home with his family, all of the anger and frustration comes out and you see that he is really not as steady as he seems. He only ever showed his emotions – sorrow, happiness, pride, etc… – to his ex-wife. His temper is easily set off and he raises his voice when angered.

Mother – Alexis King, 45, Gallery Manager at Outré Art Gallery

Alexis is a free spirit who is creative and passionate about letting her kids live their dreams. She is a proud parent no matter what and when Junyoung got upset with their career choices, she’d be the one who was able to put a smile on everyone’s face. She was always a very loveable person and it’s hard to say if she ever made enemies since she was such a really genuine woman to everyone. Her daughters inherit a very important trait from her which is her straightforward personality. She wanted to become an artist, but because she got pregnant with her first child and had to drop out of her Arts school. Because she was not able to live her dreams, she is more than happy to make sure others realize their dreams and pursue them. She had enough of Junyoung’s attitude and couldn’t take it anymore – though the fear that he was cheating on her with a woman back in Korea did add to it – and requested divorce. He was being transferred to a hospital in Korea which just furthered her suspicions of his infidelity. She isn’t usually someone who is so negative or the type to think in such a matter but she always tells her girls, “Don’t let love blind you, even the nicest of all men can lie through their teeth”.

Sister – Nikita King, 22, Special Events Coordinator for Outré Art Gallery

Being the eldest out of all the sisters, Nikita felt obligated to be responsible for taking care of them when their parents weren’t around. Nikita is responsible, organized, and pretty much the ideal child who exceeded in just about everything she did. She was pretty, funny and really it was difficult to find a flaw in her. Thing about Nikita is she’s always so tired because she’s always out and about or running errands for the family. She has difficulties prioritizing things and tries to accomplish everything. The relationship between Will and Nikita is good. Will was thankful that Nikita was always around, and Nikita had a particular soft spot for Will because of her condition. When Will left for Korea with Mel and Terry, Nikita felt worried and paranoid something bad would happen. They always message each other once at night through email to check up on what’s going on at their end of the world. Nikita has been through a lot in her life from being to getting pregnant and giving birth because she was . To this day though she loves her kids and doesn’t care that they were the result of her torture because now they’re her life – even if it adds to how hectic her life is.

Sister – Mel King, 21, Stylist with YG Entertainment

Mel is the ‘most successful’ of the sisters as they like to say. Mel had always had a knack for fashion and really all things to do with appearance. She could do hair, makeup, tailoring, and she could even find a way to fix clothes on the go. Mel’s passion lied in fashion, and with her family’s motivation 0 even her father’s – Mel felt as if she could conquer the world, battling one nasty outfit at a time. Mel and Will share a fairly close bond because of their similar outspoken attitudes and although Mel doesn’t particularly like Will’s style, she’s forever her adorable little sister. When they moved to Korea, it was tough at first but Mel headed straight for YG – she’s a big fan of 1TYM, PSY, Tablo and Se7en – to become an image consultant and stylist.

Sister – Terry King, 19, College Student

Terry is the cute smiley type of girl. She doesn’t talk much but expresses herself well in her writing. A lot different from the other women in her family, Terry isn’t an artist with pictures and is more an artist with words. She is a lovely poetry writer and is able to convey a lot of emotion in her poetry. She has somewhat of an airy aura and is a free spirit. She never got into trouble with anyone and rather than childish like Will, Terry is innocent. Her mind is empty of impure thoughts and bad intentions. She’s supposed to be the big sister, but it’s almost as if the two have the minds of children. Although the two of them go to school together, they run in different crowds. Terry runs with the popular preps – well obviously not the popular partiers – and is socially awkward talking to guys. She’s got the overall look and she’s smart, so it’s not surprising that she gets confessed to a lot which is a problem for that dimpled girl because she runs away from boys when they get closer than three feet from her.

Nephew – Benji King, 5

Benji is the wannabe tough guy. He believes in the whole ‘Boys have to protect the girls’ concept and is overprotective of his grandma Alexis, his mom and his twin sister. He was always babied by his aunties and was always embarrassed by them since he was a little boy after all and he wanted to seem really tough and manly. Benji is extremely cute when it comes to his sister because he is always hugging and loving her. Niece – Cyndie King, 5

Cyndie is the silly strange little sister that talks to herself and has an infinite amount of imaginary friends that she can play tea party with. Her stuffed animals are her best friends and she wears her PJs backwards. She has the habit of sleeping on the bottom bunk with her brother rather than sleeping on the top bunk – not because she’s scared but because she’s used to sleeping buried in plush toys and in her brother’s arms. She always looks at pictures of her auntie and admires them.

Bang Yongguk, 22

Yongguk and Will often bully each other since he treats Will like a man. He thinks of her like a sibling and they’re pretty much like family. He knows the most about her and treats her as if she’s a five year old instead of a seventeen year old turning eighteen. He gets really worried about her like a father might, and always scolds her out of fear that something might happen to her.

Kim Himchan, 22

Himchan is the sneaky erted boy. Girls swoon the moment he enters a room. He was the first of the boys to befriend Will properly and is the one who hangs out with her the most out of all the boys in terms of going to the mall and such. She probably feels most at ease with Himchan since he can always offer a comforting arm or shoulder to cry on. He won’t pry and he is patient enough to not blow up in her face.

Jung Daehyun, 18 turning 19

Daehyun may not talk a lot but when he does, it’s when he’s with his tight group of friends – the boys and Will. He is self-conscious about his accent but Will always reminds him that he has nothing to worry about compared to her accent. Daehyun most easily opens up to Will and has the utmost trust in her.

Yoo Youngjae, 18

Youngjae is a smartass. He always talks as if he knows everything – which isn’t unreasonable since he’s actually really smart. He’s almost like Will’s tutor though when they’re put together, there usually isn’t any work done ever. Despite his seemingly mature surface, Youngjae can become childish and playful when he’s left alone to ‘tutor’ Will.

Moon Jongup, 17

Tough as meat Moon Jongup the shy boy aspiring to be a dancer. He and Will are work out partners and go to the gym together all the time. After the gym they’ll usually hit the sauna together. They don’t feel embarrassed around each other because they just don’t feel anything for each other anyways. He’s not a ert and she isn’t either so whatever.

Choi Junhong / Zelo, 15 turning 16

Zelo is the baby of the friends with Will. Though Will isn’t even one of the youngest, she sure acts like it. They call them the evil twins since the two are always naughty and play pranks together. Zelo may seem innocent and naïve but he’s much more aware of what’s going on than one gives him credit for. Will is probably the one who knows this best since Zelo is easily affected by others, he always goes to her for comfort.

These boys are the people she can trust her life with. They keep her out of trouble and go to her whenever she needs them. She would do the same for them as well.

That bastard who sits beside her in almost all of her classes and calls her ‘Raccoon’ because of her eye makeup. It’s almost as if he purposely does it to annoy her. She clearly looks for Youngjae so she can sit with him or save him a seat. Chanyeol is that cocky jock. He’s good at just about all sports and can do just about everything. He has no remorse for the girls he has played with since he believes the girls deserve it for always going after him. He loves a challenge and it’s exactly what Will gives him. He isn’t afraid of getting her angry and always tests waters with her. He is determined to make her fall for him because of a bet he made with his friends. They all told him it’d be impossible especially since she has a boyfriend who loves her so much. Chanyeol has too much pride to turn down the challenge. Chanyeol appears to have a baby face, but then you take a look at the rest of him and you realize he’s anything but a baby. He’s a cruel individual who will use others for his own benefit. He is the campus bully who likes to pick on the weak and strong both equally. He is the guy that almost all the girls seem to want to get with at least once. He’s never seen with the same girl two days in a row and he takes pride in his heartbreaker streak. He starts off thinking that Will is a freak. She’s that weirdo who keeps spacing out and it boggles his mind why people are so nice to her. Soon though after taunting her so much about falling for him, he ends up falling for her and does everything in his power to make her and her boyfriend split up. Will pretty much hates his guts but maybe his teasing is getting to her. When she catches him being hit by his mother she realizes maybe there’s more to him than she has considered. 

{ rival ㅡ  Ryu Hwayoung, 19

When you’ve got a guy like Chanyeol around you all the time there’s bound to be girls after your . There are the girls who can let go after one time with him, and then there are the girls who can’t. Hwayoung is the girl who just couldn’t let go. Delusional and believing that he could love her back, she was always hot on his trail. Noticing his every move and noticing his sudden interest in Will, she warned Will to ‘back off’. Even after Will clearly told her she wasn’t interested and had a boyfriend who she was happy with, Hwayoung didn’t believe it only believing that every girl in the world wants Chanyeol – which by the way is really silly. Hwayoung always does silly things by setting things up to make a fool of Will – not too hard to be quite honest – and has enough money to go her whole life doing this. It’s nonsense to Will but when Will realizes her feelings for Chanyeol, she accepts Hwayoung’s declaration of war. And all just because she’s a fangirl, girls these days.

{ ulzzang ㅡ Yoshida Reika / I hope it’s alright that I used a Gyaru rather than an Ulzzang, I just felt that she fit the role more than any other Ulzzang I could think of.
