I get really irritated when I see people complain about dark concepts in fanfiction, such as murder, , and etc. Honestly, sometimes it calls for complaining because people act very irresponsibly with the issues. (There are far too many stories about a person moving on from a to fall into a healthy relationship with their .)
When you.. rearrange the concept of these horrible things to seem almost like something desirable, that’s when it’s sick. When you write a responsible portrayal of the events, including warnings of what happens within your story - there should be nothing wrong with that. Those who don’t want to read it can move on by.
As far as “Who would want to read that horrible ??” Uh, I don’t know, who wants to watch gore horror flicks? It’s the same deal. It’s not like all of those people are psychos or murderers. I’d ask you, “Who wants to read fluffy unrealistically happy perfect couple times?” But you couldn’t give me a much better answer, right?
Making these very realistic issues something ‘taboo’ to write on is disgusting censorship. It happens and will continue to happen, and we should show it from many different lights in many different medias. That raises awareness. It’s NOT a bad thing.
(There’s a really great SHINee fic written by a friend of mine. It features a realistic portrayal of life after a ual assault: You can read it here. )
