K-pop vs. American Music

K-pop has gotten really popular now. I wouldn't say particularly in the U.S. but in different areas, it has been.

K-pop is really popular now. Some of my friends like it and some don't. Most of them like Big Bang and 2NE1 the most out of a lot of K-pop bands.
I feel like why so many people like Big Bang and 2NE1 the most is probably because the similarities it has with American music. They have electricy music kind of a pop feeling. Their clothes is eccentric and weird. It's like Lady Gaga.

American music is mostly surrounding ual themes. Like Lady Gaga's 'Pokerface' the mv is really, I guess ual. Her clothes make it seem like that. Also Maroon 5's 'Moves Like Jagger' also some of Rihanna's songs and Beyonce's songs. I'm not saying their crazed but its kinda like their addicted to it.
Why a lot of Asians like Justin Bieber -> because it sounds like Asian music. It's not talking about , it's a love song, Asians like that.

When Americans see K-pop idols - or generally Asian idols - they'll say 'Oh, why are they so gay?' or 'Why are they dressed like that?' or 'Why are they acting and dancing like that?'.
For example: Kids react to K-pop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd6EQ4MxTWE)
American celebrities have more freedom than K-pop stars. They get to smoke, drink, have , date, etc. But, K-pop stars or Korean celebrities in general can't. They have restrictions on everything. They can't be fat, they can't smoke, they can't date, etc. It'll just ruin their images.

I feel like fans over exaggerate these things. Well, netizens do. They made such a big deal over Jonghyun dating Sekyung. Or when GD was caught smoking. Smoking and doing drugs is a big deal in Korea. They immediately ruin your image. But since GD is so popular, he's still working in Big Bang and the entertainment business.
Just like gagman 'K' was accused of some person. and happens all the time in America. But, netizens make a huge deal when it happens in Korea. Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus for example. They turned into a huge trouble.

American's actually write their music and stuff. Where as K-pop idols have others to do it. Also the dancing. I think that American dancing is surrounded by B-boying and ballet. Asian dancing is surrounded by popping, simple movements, etc.

I feel like a lot of people - mostly ghetto Americans like to hear raps in songs. Like Lil' Wayne. It's like if a song doesn't have a rap, mentions of , or curse words they won't listen to it.
Same with slow songs. They like fast songs. I feel like Adele made a huge change last year. I love Adele a lot and her songs mean a lot. I'm not really bashing these American celebrities it's just I don't really...yeah.

AN: I seriously didn't mean to bash or anything. It's personal opinions. I doubt anyone will really read this all.

Actually I stopped listening to american music since I started listening to kpop. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I'd like to say that I'm sick and tired of techno excessive using in music. High notes and natural vibration truly singer makes could easily be replaced by technology. That's why I found KPop so refreshing and DBSK so genuine.
Too bad it turned out to be more techno since early 2011 (e.g Keep Your Head Down)
